Italian hearts | Italian quote tattoos, Italian tattoos, Tattoo quotes

I can see why the author writes under a pen name because WHEW!  Some of the situations our girl Sophie gets into are definitely a few shades of red more than a blush!

When we meet Sophie, the initial shine of living in Italy with the love of her love and her new baby is starting to wear off.  No longer is the setting picturesque, the village quaint, and the language lyrical.  Now, it's so far from everything, hard to traverse, and a stumbling block to be understand by those who choose not to expand their horizons.  In short, she's having a difficult time of things, and the change of locale, long distance between her and her friends, business maneuvers, and "well meaning" in laws are about to push her over the proverbial edge.  Her other half, Lorenzo, is understanding of the changes she's going through and trying to be supportive, but allowing the wool to be pulled one too many times over his eyes has Sophie seeing red (with good reason!).  Everything adds up to a disaster in the making, and that's not even factoring in the abruptly interrupted adult activities (by his mother no less!), run ins with the local elders at the grocery, and the suddenly can't be depended on coworker back in London.  Sophie's a big girl, but even the best of us needs a helping hand at some point...

Personally, there was a bit too much focus on her getting her drive back for my own liking, but I get it, life happens, and that can certainly be a part of it. On the total plus side of things, Guli's influence is definitely hoot worthy, and let's just say she's not afraid of anything...and I do mean ANTHING!  I love how she made learning a new language FUN (and rather practical!) again, and how she always had their backs no matter what.  Speaking of which, that best girl friends act was definitely not an act from her gal pals from London either; true blue friends to the end.  Alas, I can't get by without mentioning Lorenzo again.  He means well, but ai mama, when it comes to his mother, it's like she can do no wrong!  All in all, I'd say it seemed like a rather realistic portrayal of what could happen if we only allow ourselves to be happy, healthy, and let go...and really, we're all just trying to live our best lives, so I suppose Sophie is a shining example indeed!

TCBR Awareness Tour: EQ EXPLORERS: Little Adventures for a BIG, HAPPY LIFE by Kim Linette - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome once again to the site that aims to be a bookish part of your day, EVERY day...Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

As promised, we've got another fabulous tour coming at you via The Children's Book Review and this time we're featuring a trio of Picture Book fun from author Kim Linette, and illustrated by James Lorem!  They are a part of the EQ Explorers series and are aimed at providing Little Adventures for a Big, Happy Life and quite honestly, these books rather do!  Ready or not, let's get down to business as we take a walk on the wild side with today's titles of choice...

Compare Bear's Double Dare
Compare has a problem.  He's a bear, and he never seems to think he can do anything any better than anyone else.  Though it doesn't sound like a problem at first, constantly comparing himself to others has him starting to lose himself...in some rather fantastically funny, but unfortunate ways.  Seriously guys, you've never seen a bear with a squirrel's tail or a bird's beak before now, have you?  Yeah, that's what I thought, but our boy Danny knows just the thing to get him back to his old bear self...and it's a lesson that reader's of all ages can benefit from.  In life, there will always be someone better at this or that, but just as someone else shines brighter in some areas, so do you...so YOU DO YOU is a definite takeaway because really, there's only one of you and that's special enough for the world!

Jojo Giraffe's Big Laugh
Our pal Jojo helps Kali realize that there's a big difference between respecting the opinions of others because they see things from their own perspective, and making their perspective her own.  It doesn't matter what others think of you, but rather what you think of yourself.  Everyone has an opinion, but their opinion is just that...THERE'S.  Again, YOU DO YOU is heard loud and clear.  I totally respect Jojo for taking care of our girl Kali as she goes from overly upset child to a proud princess ready to share her gifts with the world!

Wally Whale's Mighty Tail
Wally is not a whale to be trifled with, but he's also the most easy going BIG guy you'll ever meet!  When our little friend Koa seeks the answer to being mighty, which happens to be written on a rather mighty fella's tale, he gets more than he bargained for.  Wally won't simply tell him the answer, but makes him work a little for it, letting him learn a valuable lesson along the way, AND the big secret answer he sought the whole time.  It's certainly of book about being positive and seeking the joy in life, but it's not unreasonable either.  It doesn't shy away from the fact that bad things can happen; it just reinforces that wonderful message on Wally's tale...

About the book...
Shhh! Be very quiet. The rascally dragon is finally asleep. But, when the page turned, the breeze blew the door shut with a BANG! Did it wake up the dragon? Create a fantastic bedtime experience by reading this interactive story featuring a reluctant-to-sleep dragon—a character that children will surely relate! Designed to be read aloud, parents will take pleasure in the playful text as much as children will enjoy hearing it. When the story finally comes to an end, and the gentle lullaby is repeated, the dragon – and your child! – are encouraged to drift off to sleep.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once upon a time, there was a dragon who was a bit hard to put to bed...and in this story, the dragon may start out in bed, but keeping her there is going to be a challenge.  With every turn of the page, every ....
...clang of the pans, every knock on the door, and BOOM of a party drum, brings you one step closer to disturbing her slumber.  It's not for fear of being eaten or fricasseed, but rather having to get her to go BACK to sleep!  So whatever you do...DON'T WAKE THE DRAGON!
Honestly, this was a delightful tale with gorgeous illustrations and a continual invitation for readers to participate in both keeping the rascally dragon asleep and warding off all the unusual nighttime disturbances that seem to plague this particular castle!  You'll dance your way through the party, bang on the drum to get everyone's attention, turn pages EXTRA carefully, and even rock-a-bye the book as you join the fun.  Watch for the special touches in the illustrations that catch you off guard, especially the cat and mouse who try rather valiantly themselves to keep our fire breathing friend asleep, and have a ball, just quietly, as you read through this adorable work with your favorite little readers.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…Merry Winters is excited for her dream-come-true moment: Being an on-site crafter for a Christmas movie. The tidings of joy are short-lived as she finds herself becoming a referee, dealing with a raging Ebenezer, participating in a bucket brigade, and finding evidence in a “murder.”
Is someone trying to stop the production or is it tied to a secret someone has on Luna Carmichael, the star of the movie and the queen of Christmas?
When Marie, Luna’s assistant, stumbles away from a car accident and dies, Merry believes the accident wasn’t quite so accidental. Was Luna or Marie the target? Merry finds more questions than answers, but one thing is certain: Everyone has an ulterior motive for being part of the production—including Marie.
After another murder, Merry wonders if the deaths are tied to a baby born long ago and abandoned. And more importantly, will Merry live long enough to find out?
RRR presents... A CORNISH DAISY'S KISS by Laura Briggs - GUEST POST!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we've got a special guest via Rachel's Random Resources ready to "meet" all of you as we introduce her latest release and get you familiar with her other works.  Sound good?  GREAT!  So, the woman is question is author Laura Briggs.  The title we're celebrating sounds like a lovely read indeed, but here...see for yourself...
A Cornish Daisy's Kiss
A Little Hotel in Cornwell, Book 6
by
Laura Briggs
About the book...
Weeks after boarding a train to Paris in pursuit of her writing dreams, aspiring novelist Maisie Clark is right back where she started: on the idyllic shores of Port Hewer in Cornwall, luggage in hand and heart filled with anticipation for what lies ahead. Except that nothing seems the same as Maisie left it, from her place among the staff at the hotel Penmarrow to her budding romance with groundskeeper Sidney Daniels, who isn’t quite ready to overlook the painful consequences of her sudden departure.
Losing Sidney would be unbearable, but Maisie can’t help fearing it might be true if the rift between them proves too deep to heal. She knows her feelings for him are unchanged, but whether he feels the same remains to be seen—particularly since she stopped him from expressing them in the first place. And to make matters worse, her position at the Penmarrow has been filled by another, there’s nowhere for her to live in the village, and her savings are finally dwindling to a pathetic number – with her book still unpublished after her startling discovery about the author helping guide her towards success.
But one thing which hasn’t changed is the drama and excitement at the hotel Penmarrow, where the staff is awaiting inspection from the dreaded owner Ms. Claypool. Stirring up trouble in the meantime is the owner’s special guest ‘Mad Ludwig’, an eccentric architect whose demands are definitely driving everyone on the staff a little crazy. And then there’s the hotel’s mysterious new desk manager, whose behavior ignites Maisie’s suspicions and causes her to become entangled in yet another form of intrigue—one that could unwittingly jeopardize the future of the Penmarrow and everyone who works there, unless Maisie can find a way to undo the harm.
With everything that matters to her most at stake this time, Maisie faces her biggest challenges yet...and her deepest question of the heart as she confronts the reason she returned to Cornwall and the Penmarrow in the first place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sounds good, right?
Yeah, I thought so too...but, I was also CURIOUS about the author's writing.  Her style, her path taken, and how challenging she found writing a series in a the first place!  I mean, I for one would probably be stumbling upon similar passages in previous released titles, and drawing a blank on how to give things that extra bit of oomphf...so, let's hear from an expert of sorts on how it's REALLY done!

~~~   GUEST POST   ~~~
Keeping a Long-Running Romance Series Fresh
by author Laura Briggs
A huge thank you to Gina for letting me share a bit about the books in my feel-good romance series ‘A Little Hotel in Cornwall’. Its sixth installment, A Cornish Daisy’s Kiss, made its debut this summer, with would-be novelist Maisie Clark returning for more adventures at the grand hotel by the sea. As always, she’s facing a dilemma or two when it comes to matters of the heart, but with more at stake this time when it comes to what matters most in her life.
With any multi-book series it can get a little challenging to keep the momentum going from story to story, as many authors would no doubt agree. Thankfully, in the case of Maisie’s escapades, readers have made it clear which elements have kept them turning the pages thus far—and I thought it might be lovely to share what fans of the series say makes them come back for each new installment (many of which are the same reasons it’s so much fun to write, as it happens!).
The heroine’s quest:
For Maisie, this has been to give her writing dreams the best possible shot at success. Which meant an impulsive trip across the pond to seek her favorite author’s advice on her novel-in-progress to start with. Then posing as a chamber maid at a grand Cornish hotel where he supposedly stayed as a guest...and from there it only gets crazier, as Maisie finds herself tangled up in the everyday magic of the hotel Penmarrow, the seaside village, and a certain handsome groundskeeper she can’t help falling for. But she hasn’t given up on her dream of becoming a novelist, even when the path to her goal takes some unexpected twists and turns, as it frequently does, of course.
A complicated romance:
From the moment they crossed paths, Maisie’s connection with groundskeeper Sidney Daniels has been anything but simple. With his devil-may-care charm and mysterious past, Sidney seems a risk for any sensible girl’s heart. But Maisie isn’t terribly sensible, as her actions have already well-proven. Always on the verge of something more, their ‘friends only’ policy was just to keep from getting swept away at first. But it’s far too late for that now—Maisie’s feelings are committed whether it’s heartbreak or happy-ever-after waiting as the outcome.
Exciting events and eccentric characters:
The more unique events hosted at the hotel Penmarrow have ranged from a so-called séance with a celebrity psychic to an exclusive auction for a Hollywood star’s movie memorabilia. It’s all a bit dramatic and over-the-top...and so are the guests who attend them, of course! But these sort of unusual gatherings are part of what gives the Penmarrow its ever-changing ‘anything can happen’ atmosphere that readers say makes getting lost in the series’ pages an escapist treat at the end of a busy day.
If all this sounds like your cup of tea, I hope you’ll be sure to check out the books in the series. For those of you who already enjoy Maisie’s Cornish escape, be assured there are more secrets, surprises, and fun to come in the remaining two stories, with book seven already on pre-order!
