It's a big BIG world out there, and a proper introduction, along with someone in your corner, never hurt. Ladies and gents, today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice is...

Illustrated by HV Helmut
Ages: 3-8 | 38 Pages
9798891382909
Mascot Kids! (2026)

About the book...
 Starting school is both terrifying and exciting for Camilo. He wonders what his new teacher and classmates will think of him. But, as the day unfolds, Camilo has a hard time fitting in. The classroom feels overwhelming, and he battles nerves that make it hard to focus or speak up. He gets distracted, daydreaming about far-away places, and sometimes he forgets that he is in school altogether. But as the day goes on, Camilo discovers unexpected joys.

This heartwarming story captures the challenges of a child with ADHD who has to navigate a busy first day at school.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The story takes readers, young and young at heart, on that special first day trip to school. It's scary. It's exciting. It's a whole jumble of feelings and new experiences that can throw anyone for a loop, but for kiddos learning to handle additional challenges like ADHD, it can present a minefield of confusion and uncertainty. Comparing one's self to others is natural, but when it doesn't seem to add up the same way, it can be a heavy hit to a person's growing confidence. Stories like this can help.
It normalizes the newness and oddness of the situation. It let's them see themselves in others and grow in the knowledge that they are not alone. It helps them, and in turn helps the adults in their lives, celebrate them for who they are while learning how to best help them on their educational journey. No one comes into this world with all the answers, and it does take a village to raise a tiny soul nowadays. The more widespread the message, the better we are all in the end to help each other become the best version of ourselves. Combine the inspiring message with the lovely illustrations, and I can see this story being reached for time and time again.
AWARENESS TOUR: Into the Thicket Written by Gail Kuhnlein, Illustrated by John Megahan - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Hello there, readers!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers. Today, we're joining The Children's Book Review on their current AWARENESS TOUR starring a storybook inspired by true events that will touch your heart. It reminds us that no matter how big, no matter how small, EVERYONE can help, and everyone NEEDS help at some point in their lives. It's up to us to take those moments by the reigns and make them shine.
Ladies and gents, let's get this book party started, shall we? Please make way on your TBR and your bookshelf for today's featured title...
Written by Gail Kuhnlein
Illustrated by John Megahan
Ages: 4-7 | 60 Pages
9798990747807
 BookBaby (2025)
About the book...
Inspired by a true story, Into the Thicket begins with the moment the author’s young son discovered an injured baby rabbit — an encounter that sparked a heartfelt journey of care and connection.
This tender picture book follows a boy and the rabbit he hopes to help, gently exploring themes of compassion, courage, love, and the bittersweet beauty of letting go. It invites young readers to develop empathy and a deeper appreciation for the natural world, showing how even the smallest acts of kindness can ripple through a great, big world.
Featuring stunning watercolor illustrations by acclaimed Ann Arbor artist John Megahan, Into the Thicket is a story families will return to again and again. A portion of all proceeds benefits wildlife rehabilitation and conservation.
This gorgeously illustrated and heart warming book shares the story of one little bunny in desperate need of help, and the little boy that not only noticed, but to the time and gathered the courage to get the help he needed.
Patrick and Ben were brothers, and like they tend to do, ragging on each other, and instilling unnecessary fears in the other is a part of their everyday world. When Patrick needs to get help for the injured baby bunny, those fears kick in because the fastest way to get to assistance was by going INTO THE THICKET. Could he do it? After all, Ben said their were goblins and all other manner of creatures in their waiting to gobble him up. I mean, a bunny would be an additional tasty morsel, and like tangling the proverbial carrot in front of a bunny. But Patrick took one look at that little soul in his hands, and knew he had to do for the bunny's sake. I totally wanted to give him a hug for that maneuver, but I digress. The story doesn't end once the Thicket does...
Reaching the other side is about getting one step closer to conquering his fear, but also one step closer to saving the little kit. Thankfully, his neighbour happens to run a wildlife rescue, and is well versed in assisting little critters that get into situations they can't get out of themselves, but it's not all about her, and she readily admitted that. It's a team effort, and the newest honorary member of that team is Patrick because of his kind heart, his responsible nature, and his desire to see this little one healthy again. I'm not gonna lie, it's touch and go, but I will say this take on the story has a happy ending that not only sees the bunny hop another day, but reminds us that while our help may be needed, wild animals should be returned to the wilds whenever possible.
A lovingly told tale that I've no doubt will inspire a new generation of animal helpers of all ages, this is a book I can see in both home and school libraries as both a story to share, and a source of information. When taken with the beautiful illustrations, it certainly leaves its footprints on the heart, from the gorgeous full color scenes to the whimsically placed wording encouraging you to explore each page to its fullest. A great read for the small to the tall, and a story that I hope you'll check out for yourself and those you care for!
AWARENESS TOUR: Adventures with Allie and Friends: Chef Cherie’s Cafe Written by Melanie Moore, Illustrated by Juan Diaz - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Today, we're joining The Children's Book Review for an AWARENESS Tour already in progress that features the first in a new storybook series. It's got friendship, laughter, and an invitation to help, all just waiting for you to join the fun. So, if you're ready, check out today's post and don't miss your chance to win in the tour wide giveaway!
Written by Melanie Moore
Illustrated by Juan Diaz
Ages: 3-8 | 40 Pages
Publisher: Mascot Publishing (2025)
About the book...
Meet Allie! She loves helping her friends any way she can. She is always on the lookout for new ways to make a difference.
In this first book about her adventures, Allie helps Chef Cherie with her restaurant.
Will you come along with Allie and Chef Cherie?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the first book in a planned series featuring Allie, a young girl who loves helping her friends! Today's friend in need of assistance? Why, it's Chef Cherie,  and she's in a bind! Starting a new restaurant is hard enough on its own, but trying to set the menu too? Good thing Allie's available to lend a hand... but don't worry, readers aren't left out of the fun! As friendly as Allie is, she invites you to join in too. So do you eat pancakes for breakfast or lunch? What about tomato soup? Hmm, some of these may be harder than they sound, but it definitely promises to bring the smiles. At book's end, there's a blank menu section so that you can create your own menus as well, which couldn't come at a better time of year, if I do say so myself.

All in all, a fun friendship adventure that illustrates just how much a helping hand can come in handy! Along with the story, we've got the wonderful illustrations to check out along the way that makes it even more accessible to readers both young and young at heart.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Melanie Moore is a native West Texas girl born into a loving Christian family. She was born with several disabilities, but that never stopped her! When she was a little girl, she participated in elementary-level cheerleading, sang in the school choir, and played the clarinet in the marching band. In her spare time, she loved reading The Berenstain Bears, The Babysitter’s Club, and the Sweet Valley High series. Some of her favorite pastimes were vacationing in the mountains of New Mexico, family get-togethers, and picking pecans at her grandparents’ farm.

After graduating from high school, she went to Hardin-Simmons University, where she was elected Treasurer of the Social Work Club and earned a Bachelor of Behavioral Sciences in Social Work. During that time, she interned for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Abilene. She helped connect children with possible mentors. She was also a mentor to a little girl in the program.

After college, she worked for the public school system in her hometown. She explored her creative side while working with speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, music therapists, behavior specialists, autism specialists, teachers, and students. With the encouragement and guidance of her supervisors and coworkers, she created social stories and a small categorical book for speech-language pathologists.

Melanie has spent most of her career working with children with special needs. She credits her success to the students she works with every day. Her motto is that we must first seek the needs and wants of each student and allow them to teach us before we can teach them. These days, she is mostly focused on family days completed with a rousing game of Train, attending a Supper Club ministry at her church, volunteering with the Education Foundation, and maintaining a goal of walking three miles every day—or at least she tries!

Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!
Today, we play host to a stop along The Children's Book Review AWARENESS TOUR starring a new Storybook that takes a hard subject to handle at any age, and gives readers a softer place to land during those hard times.  Ladies and gents, let's take a closer look at this special title making its way into the published arena...

by
Illustrated by Alena Tkach
Ages: 4-6 | 28 Pages
9798990059412
Self-Published (2025)

About the book...
When Lil Shen loses her beloved grandmother, her world suddenly feels unfamiliar, quiet, and full of sadness. On a day filled with gray skies and heavy hearts, she receives a mysterious gift—an ordinary-looking stuffed bunny with extraordinary comfort to offer. Bunny Best, a soft companion stitched with love, becomes her guide through grief, helping Lil Shen remember, imagine, and feel all the feelings she thought she had to hide.

Tenderly told and beautifully illustrated, The Best Bunny is a story of loss, resilience, and healing. Through imagination and the memory of love, Lil Shen discovers that she doesn’t have to be “okay” to move forward. She has to do her best.

Inspired by author Shenandoah Chefalo’s lived experience in the foster care system and her work in trauma-informed care, this heartfelt picture book is an essential resource for families, educators, and professionals helping children navigate grief, big emotions, and life’s most complex changes.

๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ‡ ๐Ÿ’• ๐Ÿ‡

I admit it.  I cried my heart out while reading this one...to the extent that I had to STOP reading it and take a few minutes with my pupper to find my center again before I continued.  That's the thing about grief, it hits you like a truck with no brakes whenever it darn well feels like it, and while my encounter occurred last year, it feels like only yesterday...but I digress.

Though the cover screams "enchanting tale of a girl and her bunny"...it is in fact enchanting, but not in the way it first appears.  It's not a happy story, though there is movement towards happiness throughout and by book's end.  It's not a whimsical story, though there is a talking bunny who becomes a close friend of our little leading lady.  It's not filled with rainbows and butterflies, hugs and kisses, sparkles and unicorns, though it does remind us that those things still exist and will become easier to see as time goes by.  This is a story about loss.  It deals in grief, loneliness, feeling lost, and not knowing how to get beyond the moment.  It draws you in with a cute cover, spares nothing as it renders you speechless with the topic being addressed, and handles your heart/feelings not with kid gloves, but with honesty, and tenderness, just the same.  It's magical in the fact that it makes its message clear...one day things will get better, seem brighter, and bring joy, but it's different for everyone, and feelings of all colors need to be felt...without being clinical or sounding cliche.  It's magical in the introduction of little Shen's "power", and yet makes it something that is able to be practiced by one and all.  It's magical in letting Bunny Best show her true colors, and have a voice, when the one who helped her be where she was needed was unable to any longer.

All in all, it's a tender tale that takes us from the depths of heartache into the light of another day.  It doesn't say things are fine, it says they WILL be.  Grief is a process not something that can be glossed over, and it must be felt.  Everyone is different, just as every relationship is different, so empathy is the key when trying to share the load with another.  We can never truly understand someone else's loss any more than they can ours, but that warm heart, that shoulder to cry on, that ear to listen to us is more important than you might think. A great tool for adults to assist younger ones with this shared life experience, or even for adult readers that are still trying to process things on their own.  The beautiful illustrations combined with the strong message of taking it one moment at a time create a story that won't be easily forgotten...nor should it be.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Shenandoah Chefalo is a sought-after speaker, award-winning author, and expert trauma-informed specialist with more than 20 years of leadership consulting experience. As the Founder and Lead Strategist of Chefalo Consulting, she helps governmental, public, and private organizations integrate trauma-informed practices to create more effective and equitable systems.

Plagued and embarrassed by her name and shaped by a nomadic childhood filled with instability and loss, Shenandoah developed a tough skin early on. Her lived experiences—including foster care, poverty, and homelessness—taught her to navigate adversity, build resilience, and understand people deeply. These qualities later fueled her passion to transform broken systems.

After nearly two decades as a Law Office Administrator, Shenandoah became disturbed by the revolving door of people entering the criminal justice system. She pursued certification through Coach U and became a life coach—an experience that gave her new insight into her own trauma and the systemic failures she had endured.

Research into the U.S. foster care system revealed staggering statistics: over 400,000 children in care daily, 61% aging out without housing, 50% incarcerated within two years, and 80% of death row inmates having spent time in care. These revelations compelled her to share her story publicly and advocate for reform.

Her memoir, Garbage Bag Suitcase, confronts the hard truths of foster care while charting a personal journey of healing. Hi gang!

I'm simply trying not to over BOOK, and stress myself out trying to capture everything, and share everything at once. Anywho, let's get back to today's tasty bookish treat making its way here thanks to Rockstar Book Tours...

About the book...
While visiting her grandmother in central Taiwan, Pei finds herself in the middle of a mystery. The pineapple cakes from her grandmother's bakery have disappeared! Soon Pei is collecting clues as she embarks on a quest to find the missing pineapple cakes.

From traditional Taiwanese artisan craftsmanship to picturesque villages of central Taiwan, Pei discovers the beauty of her grandmother's hometown. This is a charming story of courage, adventure, and the love between grandchildren and grandparents.

This wonderful, fully illustrated, and colorful tale, shares a day in the life of Pei as she spends time with her grandmother, and unravels a tasty secret. Her journey to solve the mystery takes her through the town and places us in the lives and culture of the Taiwanese people. We get glimpses into the tightly knit community, the beautiful countryside, the remarkable crafts and trades practiced... and just how tempting the missing pineapple ๐Ÿ cakes truly were because the sneaky little culprit was all ready to strike again! It's a wonderful way for readers to dip their toes in another place that seems like another time, allowing the imagery and information to open the doors of curiosity for further exploration... just like Pei and her mom!

A great pick for wee readers and beyond! Side note... though not an option for me to read, I loved the inclusion of what I can only assume us the story text in the given language. It's beautiful to see, and provides just another spark for that cultural immersion.
