AWARENESS TOUR: In My Mind by Carmen Hernández, Illustrated by HV Helmut - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining The Children's Book Review for an AWARENESS TOUR already in progress. The star is a new storybook aiming to shine a light on the struggles that can have some kiddos entering the school arena...a little more than on edge. It's a big BIG world out there, and a proper introduction, along with someone in your corner, never hurt. Ladies and gents, today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice is...

Mascot Kids! (2026)

About the book...
 Starting school is both terrifying and exciting for Camilo. He wonders what his new teacher and classmates will think of him. But, as the day unfolds, Camilo has a hard time fitting in. The classroom feels overwhelming, and he battles nerves that make it hard to focus or speak up. He gets distracted, daydreaming about far-away places, and sometimes he forgets that he is in school altogether. But as the day goes on, Camilo discovers unexpected joys.

This heartwarming story captures the challenges of a child with ADHD who has to navigate a busy first day at school.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The story takes readers, young and young at heart, on that special first day trip to school. It's scary. It's exciting. It's a whole jumble of feelings and new experiences that can throw anyone for a loop, but for kiddos learning to handle additional challenges like ADHD, it can present a minefield of confusion and uncertainty. Comparing one's self to others is natural, but when it doesn't seem to add up the same way, it can be a heavy hit to a person's growing confidence. Stories like this can help.
It normalizes the newness and oddness of the situation. It let's them see themselves in others and grow in the knowledge that they are not alone. It helps them, and in turn helps the adults in their lives, celebrate them for who they are while learning how to best help them on their educational journey. No one comes into this world with all the answers, and it does take a village to raise a tiny soul nowadays. The more widespread the message, the better we are all in the end to help each other become the best version of ourselves. Combine the inspiring message with the lovely illustrations, and I can see this story being reached for time and time again.
AWARENESS TOUR: Ellie’s Dancing Shoes by Scott Sollers, Illustrated by Bryan Janky - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Welcome back!
As promised, another FABULOUS AWARENESS TOUR coming at you thanks to the folks over at The Children's Book Review (*waving at you, Bianca*)!
This next wonderful moment in your reading life shines the center stage spotlight on a Storybook that features spinning, twirling, and pirouettes, the likes of which I may never perform, but can always dream of, and they all stem from the dreams of a little girl. Ready to perform your best grande plie ever? Ladies and gents, may I present our featured title...
Mascot Books (2025)
About the book...
 There is nothing Ellie wants more than to become a ballerina.
Every day she practices her stretches, leaps, twirls, and jumps. But Ellie doesn’t believe in herself. Her self-doubt gets in the way, and when she stretches, she slips. When she bends, she falls over. When she leaps, she slides. When she twirls or jumps, she gets all twisted and slumped over.
Until one day, her parents gave Ellie her grandmother’s magical dancing shoes. Soon, there are only graceful jumps, beautiful leaps, and dizzying twirls.
When the day of Ellie’s audition to become a ballerina arrives, her magic dancing shoes are lost. Will Ellie find them in time before her audition, or must she perform without them?
A beautifully illustrated story that shows children that their magic can be found within.
🩰  🩰  🩰  🩰  🩰  🩰
All Ellie wants to do is dance, or more specifically be a BALLERINA.  I remember taking classes myself as a child, and while I didn't harbor dreams of becoming a professional, I don't blame Ellie in the least!
The beauty, the grace, the strength, the talent... all these things and more that ballerinas tend to embody are wonderful attributes to have and strive for, and there's no reason Ellie can't be all of this too. The only thing is... she tends to get in her own way. She let's the little voice in her head that can feed our fears of failure, trip her dancing feet, and tumble her dreaming heart. Her parents see this and do what loving parents do... find a way to support her without her realizing where the push came from.
In truth, it's simply a confidence boost and the lesson learned of the real magic coming from inside each of us, but let's face it...it can be hard to believe those words as more than words, especially when we're young. It was wonderful to see Ellie blossom into the person she was suppose to be, the person she wanted to be, and when everything comes to light later on, an absolute joy to know that Ellie was exactly where she was meant to be with a full heart, a spring in her step, and a realized dream.
A great way for readers of all ages to be reminded of the real source of the magic in our lives, while encouraging us to never stop dreaming, or reaching for those stars.  🌟 Filled with inspiring illustrations that bring Ellie’s journey dancing right off the page and into our hearts.
AWARENESS TOUR: I Am Not Sophie! by Robyn Hodess, Illustrated by Terry Kole - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Welcome back to a double dose of fun here on Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!
That's right! Today we have not one BUT TWO fabulous stories to shine the book spotlight on, and they both are coming to us via The Children's Book Review AWARENESS TOUR for each.
First up, a story about a little girl that's not a little girl, but only sometimes. 😉 You'll see.  Ready or not fair readers, here comes today's first title in the spotlight...
Mascot Kids! (2025)
Sophie is a little girl with a BIG imagination! Every day, she wakes up and decides to be a different animal. On Sunday, she pounces and roars through the house like a tiger. On Monday, she stomps and trumpets like a mighty elephant. Throughout the week, she is a slithering snake, a bouncy monkey, and even a scary alligator! By the end of the week, Sophie discovers that being herself is the best adventure of all.
Filled with playful illustrations and a heartwarming message about self-acceptance, I am NOT Sophie! encourages young readers to embrace their own unique magic—because sometimes, being YOU is the most wonderful thing of all!
🐵  🐦  🐊  🐯  🙋‍♀️
As I said, Sophie is not always Sophie, and her mom is perfectly okay with that! Haven't you ever wanted to be something you weren't? Try on a new persona? Give in to those animal instincts? Scream like a monkey. Chirp like a bird. Chomp like a crocodile. ROAR like a tiger. So many options (and more!), and Sophie gets to explore every which one she wants...  right down to being Sophie, whatever the end result might be.
This is a story about finding yourself and being allowed to find yourself. It's a story about acceptance of EVERY PIECE of your wild heart, whether it wears clothing, fur, feathers, or scales. It's about growing up and finding your way, and a reminder to never lose that side of ourselves that let's us simply BE US... whatever that might look or sound like. The colorful illustrations that grace every page bring the story vividly to life, and I can easily see kiddos reaching for it time and again... especially when they get to act out Sophie's different sides! Can we say SOUND EFFECTS? 😃
A memorable read perfect for family bookshelves and classroom storytime settings alike!
AWARENESS TOUR: Webster the Beagle and His Adventures at the River by Frank Payne, Illustrated by Romney Vasquez - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers!
Today, we're letting the blog go to the dogs, or rather one specifically, as we play host to an AWARENESS TOUR going on now with The Children's Book Review. It features the second book in a charming children's storybook series starring none other than Webster the Beagle. He's precocious. He's adorable. He had a different start in life than you might think, but it all ended well for everyone involved. Ready to take point and see what all the hubbub is about? Ladies and gents, let's get between the epages of today's blog tour guest and book of choice...
About the book...
This is the story of Webster the beagle and his adventures at the Rappahannock River, whose tale of hope will inspire you to never give up on your dreams. Sometimes, we think we’re lost when, really, we’re just hoping to be found.
🐾  🐾  🐾  🐾  🐾  🐾  🐾
Webster was a born hunting dog, but one day when out and about, he become lost. Don't fret. He's found sooner than later, and gets a second chance at a more auspicious life. How so? Well, where Webster was previously hunting and chasing the critters of the woods and waters, which was fine and dandy, now he gets to enjoy their company 😉. Yes, Webster now gets to travel with his owner, and, depending on the season, has the chance to make new friends of fin, feather, and shell! Along the way, we get to learn all about the new creatures we're encountering... things like Osprey don't need to drink water, and Rockfish can grow up to 30 pounds, which were both news to me!
It's a great example of edutainment for little ones just starting out as well as beginning readers to start building that desire to explore the world around them. There's just enough story to move things along with the right amount of information to keep things intriguing, and when combined with the lovely illustrations, there's no doubt Webster will make a fine friend to many an adventurer in the making.
AWARENESS TOUR: Vivienne in Paris by Maria Castellucci Moore - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!
Ready for a trip to beautiful Paris?
Ah, then you chose the perfect time to visit my site because today we're packing out virtual bags and saying BONJOUR as we welcome today's AWARENESS TOUR via The Children's Book Review.  The star of the show is a Storybook that while a bit longer in word count will easily charm readers young and old alike as it invites them to look for what makes their heart smile.  Curious?  Let's get started then!
by
Maria Castellucci Moore
Illustrated by
Emanuela Mannello
Ages 4+ | 38 Pages
About the book...
Vivienne in Paris follows a young Parisian girl on a journey through Paris to find what makes her tick. Join Vivienne as she discovers the sights, smells, tastes, and sounds of the city that make her feel alive. What better place to explore, observe, and delight in her senses than Paris?
This book tells a story of mindfulness and insight into how the surrounding world can really move you. It unites curiosity, wonder, and marvel to enlighten, surprise, and tickle your deepest spirit. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that bring you the greatest joy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the charming story of Vivienne and her day around Paris in search of her happiness.  No, it's not that she's lost it, but her grand-pere posed a very good question to her during their morning visit..."do you remember a time when you felt most alive, full of spirit, zestful, and sparkling with enthusiasm".  As she follows her heart around the city, she discovers many things that give her joy, but one thing that truly moves her heart.  Along the way, readers are gently introduced to the French language, while the pictures allow you to discern their meaning, if not their pronunciation.  I admit to butchering a word or two, but it wasn't anything that Google couldn't help me out with...and that's the added wonder with a story like this...the edutainment value in addition to the story time enjoyment.

From the darling illustrations to the beautiful color palette that carries from page to page, this is as much a work of art as it is a delightful, and inspiring tale that will easily enchant wee readers and beyond.  After all, when was the last time YOU felt the feelings Vivienne is seeking?  Is it spending time with your family?  Is it when you visit a particular place?  Is it curled up in a cozy chair with your favorite book?  Or perhaps it's something totally unique you haven't even thought about for quite some time, and now that it's on your mind, you might seek it out.  Whatever the case may be, indulge in Vivienne's journey through the City of Lights, and take a trip round the world without ever having to leave your living room.
