Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're taking a look at a book from my personal library that will have you stitches. No, really! It deals with our constant need to be connected with the world at large while reminding us...well, just how silly we can look/sound when doing so. Ladies and gents, put the iPhones away and okay, don't disconnect from the internet or you'll not be reading my post....here comes today's book of choice....
The New Yorker
Book of Technology Cartoons
Edited and with an Introduction by
Robert Mankoff

About the book...
Technology—friend or foe? That's a question the brilliant cartoonists of The New Yorker have been pondering with no little skepticism—and answering hilariously-for decades. This is not because of a fascination with technology itself, but because technology has, more and more, inserted itself into our everyday lives-in ways delightful to some and surreal to others. Whichever way you feel at any given moment, these cartoons help you laugh at technology toys, trends, trials, and tribulations.
Robert Mankoff, the cartoon editor of The New Yorker, who has a self-proclaimed love-hate relationship with technology, assembled a one-of-a-kind introduction (to say wrote wouldn't do it full justice) and selected 110 of the best cartoons ever done on technology and its effects on us all.

It's true.
Everything said above is absolutely true.
This is a great collection of cartoons from The New Yorker itself that covers the one thing most of us have in common...our fondest for technology. Okay, so perhaps fondest is too strong of a word at times, maybe it would be better to say our connection to it and how that has changed over time. Heck, it's even changed from when this book was published (2007)! As you turn the pages, you'll be presented with such fetching reminders as blue-screens can fix any situation (pg 31), being off-line is not necessarily a bad thing (pg 51), sometimes we really DO want appliances to just do their job (pg 21), and this wonderful little ditty that playfully stresses that not everything is what it seems in the "e"world (pg 68)...
What can I say? It's a well connected world out there but sometimes if it's not broken, why fix it? Recommended read for all those that would like to document this time in our lives when technology can still remind us how human we are...and those with a sense of humor.
