About the book...
Jill Gardner—owner of Coffee, Books, and More in the tucked-away town of South Cove, California—is not particularly thrilled to be portraying a twenties flapper for the dinner theater murder mystery. Though it is for charity…
Of course everyone is expecting a “dead” body at the dress rehearsal…but this one isn’t acting! It turns out the main suspect is the late actor’s conniving girlfriend Sherry…who also happens to be the ex-wife of Jill’s main squeeze. Sherry is definitely a master manipulator…but is she a killer? Jill may discover the truth only when the curtain comes up on the final act…and by then, it may be far too late.

 Sounds good, right?
I thought so and just look at that cover!  Tre magnifique!
All of those reactions add up to why when the chance to feature it front and center arrived, I couldn't pass it up....especially when the author was kind enough to share a bit about her world and the one she created for our reading pleasure in a special GUEST POST!

Please join me in welcoming author LYNN CAHOON...

GUEST POST:  Author Lynn Cahoon

Thanks for having me over today. And Happy Fourth of July, a day [or two] early. As you read this, my husband (The Cowboy) and I are up at our cabin, probably grilling burgers and drinking a few adult beverages. Tomorrow, we’ll be out on the lake, watching the fireworks go off. It’s our first year at this property, so I’m looking forward to our weekend.
We’re supposed to have a crowd today, and if you know anything about authors, dealing with many people is not typically in my wheelhouse of skills. But it will be a nice warm up for my trip to NYC this summer for the annual Romance Writers of America conference that’s being held in Times Square. Besides, the cabin (read 5th wheel trailer) has a separate bedroom where I can go hide with the dogs if things get too crazy.
I think before I go, I’ll whip up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I like them chewy and filled with chips and nuts. Anyway, before I go all crazy and decide to make a batch today, I better get on with my blog post.
Dressed to Kill is the fourth book of the Tourist Trap series. My series is set on the central California coast in a fictional tourist town. I love visiting the area, either in person or in my head when I’m writing the next installment. Guidebook to Murder, the first book, introduces the reader to my main character, Jill Gardner, and her quirky sidekicks that continue from one story line to the next. With each book, I learn more about not only Jill, but the others who live in this world with her.

One of my favorite characters is the hunky police officer-slash-part time barista, Toby. He walked on the page when Aunt Jackie came to visit and help with the store and she hired him. That’s the way Aunt Jackie is, take charge and leave no prisoners. When I brought her into the story, I figured she’d only be a book one character, but her apartment was going condo and she had to find a new place to stay.
See how things just kind of snowball from one idea to another.
The store not only sells coffee and books, there’s a small dessert display case that is kept filled by Sadie Michaels, the owner of Pies on the Fly. One of these days, I’m going to put out a cookbook with all of Sadie’s recipes, especially her Summer Lemon Surprise cheesecake. And of course, I’ll have to bake and taste test them all.
Which will cause me to have to spend more time at the gym and less sitting in front of the computer.
So let’s talk food. What’s your favorite summer treat? Besides watermelon.
Lynn

About the author...

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, Lynn Cahoon is an Idaho native. If you’d visit the town where she grew up, you’d understand why her mysteries and romance novels focus around the depth and experience of small town life. Currently, she’s living in a small historic town on the banks of the Mississippi river where her imagination tends to wander. She lives with her husband and two fur babies.
