Julie Stock
About the book...
Two worlds, 4,000 miles apart. Is their love strong enough to keep them together?
Rachel Hardy dreams of being a successful country music singer in Nashville's Music City, four thousand miles away from her lonely life in Dorset. When Jackson Phillips, an independent record label owner, encourages her band to audition for a nationwide 'Open Mic' competition, she decides they have nothing to lose.
But when she starts to fall in love with Jackson, the stakes suddenly get higher and she finds herself with a great big dilemma on her hands. Should she abandon her dream and take the easy way out or should she leave the life she has always known behind and take a gamble on a man who has personal demons of his own?
Follow Rachel and Jackson as they learn to trust in love again to see whether their music really can unite them.

~~~ EXCERPT ~~~
This extract is from the beginning of the story when Rachel and Jackson are just about to meet for the first time.
Poole, Dorset, England
Rachel
‘It’s time for our last session of the evening now, folks. We’re proud to present to you the next big thing in UK country music. Please give it up for local band Three’s Company!’
The crowd applauded in response and I took a deep breath to try and stop my heart from racing as I walked over to the microphone. It didn’t matter how many gigs we did, I still felt nervous every time. With a quick glance round I checked that Sam, the guitarist, and Matt, the drummer, were ready. I tossed my hair over my shoulder and moved my guitar into position, running my fingers gently over the strings to reassure myself before the growing audience.
The boys played the opening bars of Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ and I relaxed, letting my voice take over and lead the way. As the song ended, the crowd gave another good round of applause so we went straight on to our second number. About halfway through, I spotted a man watching me intently. He was tall, with broad shoulders and he had a healthy-looking tan. His dark brown hair curled invitingly around his face and his jaw was covered by a fine layer of stubble. He smiled encouragingly so he didn’t put me off my stride and reluctantly I looked away. But I was intrigued.
