TCBR AWARENESS TOUR: 'One Big Canvas' series by Jay Miletsky - DOUBLE REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're teaming up with The Children's Book Review and the REED Foundation for Autism to a very special Storybook duo.  They are the two titles from the One Big Canvas series and to me, they scream EDUTAINMENT from the word GO.  Now, don't worry...little ones won't even realize what they are learning until it's already learned, but the lessons are invaluable.  So, without further ado, let's get to the introductions, my time through the pages, and a special little giveaway I think you're going to LOVE!  Ready, set, let's read all about today's blog tour guest and titles in the spotlight...

This lovely duo of stories introduces readers to basic concepts such as sharing, caring, and acceptance, while educating them on in a broad sense on the range of the autism spectrum.  According to Google, Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior...and you know what?  It's only a small part of who the person is!  It makes them a little different, or unique, but we're all special in our own way, and making room for those variances between us is what makes life "the masterpiece" it should be!

I really loved the author's sensitive portrayal of these amazing characters.  Reese was a guiding force throughout both adventures, and a brush from which a lot can be learned, but he alone did not make the stories!  Estelle with her single, low note was dying to participate, and her one-on-one invitation to join was just the ticket to gain her interest.  Byron and his circle desire, and Lee with the splatters, both of which the other paint brushes made work so very well into the overall picture.  Seeing the final scene that they had created all together truly showed the harmony that could be found by open hearts and open minds.  In the second book, we are introduced to their visiting friend, Clay.  Clay is rather loud, boisterous, and unaccustomed to having friends like some of the brushes, but Reese once again delivers the facts with finesse, and the guidance with heart, so no feelings are hurt, and everyone can be accepted in this brilliantly artistic group.  In fact, once his molding eyes are opened, he delivers an unexpected adventure that none of them will soon forget.

So make room on your shelves and in your hearts for the One Big Canvas series.  Between the brightly colored illustrations, wonderful characters, and entertaining yet informative stories, readers of all ages will be dazzled, and upon turning the final page, all the better for the time spent between the covers.
