PRE BOOK BIRTHDAY BUZZ: Hot Texas Sunrise by Delores Fossen!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're throwing out some PRE BOOK BIRTHDAY BUZZ for the latest release from author Delores Fossen via HQN Books!  It's BOOK TWO in her Coldwater Texas series and if it's not on your radar yet, it should be.  As with her other works, it's not JUST the romance...though that's always nice too...but there's a heavier story beneath it all.  It can get messy, it can get ugly, it can get downright inappropriately funny (especially when someone keeps blacking out the "G" in a particular word on a business sign!), but it's always with the best of intentions, the whole picture in mind, and the greatest amount of heart anyone could muster.  So, if you're ready, let's get back in the saddle as we mosey on down to a ranch that's not just about horses, but about healing, second chances, and family, as we discover...

About the book...
Love was the last thing on this untamed cowboy’s mind…until she stole his heart away.
Cleo Delaney will do anything to keep her promise and raise her best friend’s sons—even if it means telling a little white lie to the state to keep them. So Cleo turns to the only person she can trust to help her—her first love, Judd Laramie. If he fosters the three young brothers in name only, she’ll do all the heavy lifting. It’s a foolproof plan…but she never imagined that the feelings they once shared would return. With a vengeance.

Texas deputy Judd Laramie is stunned by Cleo’s request. Being a dad—even on paper—is the last thing this cowboy needs right now. But no one knows better than Judd how flawed the foster system is and how much these brothers need Cleo’s protective love. What starts as a simple lie becomes so much more, and soon it’s clear Judd needs Cleo and the family they’ve created as much as they need him. Now he’ll do whatever it takes to win Cleo’s heart and claim the future they all deserve.

I noticed a trend in several of my recent reads...the common denominator, cowboys.  Now don't go raising an eyebrow because we all know how I feel about the stereotypical cowboy figure with his ten gallon hat, pointy toed boots, and affection for drawing out every little word until its ten miles long...so don't even go there.  The thing about these particular stories is that they don't walk that specific line, but they do all hold true to a certain code of conduct (deep down), a certain moral compass, and outlandishly stunning displays of manhood without all the brew-ha-ha.  Like I said...I've been in the mood...and the latest from Delores Fossen, hit all the right marks.

It's not a story that delights in the easy way to do practically anything, but really, SUCH IS LIFE, and yes, I read fiction to step away from reality, but it doesn't mean that a dose of it in the story is any less enjoyable.  Take this one for example.  I have the utmost respect for Judd's initial reaction to Cleo's request. He has issues, he knows his limits, and he doesn't want to inflict them on innocents...not that things are going were going to work out that way initially or in the foreseeable long run, but still...and you know there is that whole man-of-the-law bit.  A man that admits when he's in over his head though, GOLDEN!  Same for Cleo though...she was asked something from the heart of a dear friend, but left without the means to make it happen.  It wasn't anyone's fault, life took an unexpected and sudden turn, but it didn't make it any less of a challenge to take care of the loved ones left behind...and Cleo is DEFINITELY a woman of her word.  The highs and lows they both experience, alongside the cast of zany and lovable characters, makes this more than a story of second chances for all involved, but a testament of sorts to family being more than blood...family being the people we choose to let into our lives and our hearts.

All in all, a delightful read that hits all the right heartstrings, while giving us a story to remember.  For those that pick up a print copy (because I don't know the digital screen image equivalent), seriously...don't drink, eat, or have anything else in spray-able in your mouth when you read page 281.  No lie, I almost snorted Diet Coke into my sinuses...I was not expecting that sentence/imagery!  Recommended for fans of the author as well as Contemporary Romance fans that love a heavier story with their weekend reading flirtation.

Barclay Publicity presents... LONE STAR BLUES by Delores Fossen - EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Barclay Publicity for a stop along their current tour featuring the latest release by none other than Delores Fossen.  Recognize the name?  Well, you most certainly should as I've featured her work previously here on the site and seeing as this new addition is to the Wrangler's Creek series, you can bet your best bonnet it's on my wish list for a purchase and a read!  😉  Alas, my current schedule didn't allow it's inclusion for that enjoyable venture, but the hounds of you-know-where couldn't keep me from shining the spotlight on it...at the very least (as in, there is MORE bookish fun here than a simple spotlight)!  Ladies and gents, but mostly ladies, let's give a warm welcome to today's title in the spotlight...

About the book...
Wrangler’s Creek’s most eligible bad boy has just become its most eligible single dad.

Dylan Granger could always count on his rebellious-cowboy charm to get his way—until the day his wife, Jordan, left him and joined the military. The realization that during a wild night he got her cousin pregnant is shocking enough. But the news that Jordan has come home to Texas to help raise the baby is the last thing he expects.

Raising a baby with Dylan in Wrangler’s Creek is a life Jordan might’ve had years ago, but she doesn’t want regrets. She wants what’s best for the child—and to find out if there’s something deeper between her and her ex than blazing-hot chemistry. Getting closer means letting down her guard to Dylan again, but will he be able to accept the emotional scars on her heart?

Downing some more coffee, Dylan headed off the porch and toward the large detached garage for another vehicle. However, before he could even make it there, he saw something sparkly on the stone path. A silver purse that was smaller and flatter than the palm of his hand. It had some chew marks on it and was wet, possibly from dog slobber.
Since this likely belonged to the naked woman, he opened it to see if he could find her ID. And there it was—her driver’s license along with a credit card and some lipstick. There was also one of those stupid Dylan Granger Sex Bingo cards folded up inside.
Thankfully, it was blank.
He pulled out the license and looked at her birth date first. She was twenty-six. Way too young for him but at least she was legal. Then he read the name, and his stomach went to his ankles. Because it was Misty Turley, the same last name as the judge who was pissed at him. And with the way his morning was going, Dylan seriously doubted that was a coincidence. No, this was likely another of his daughters. One younger than Melanie.
Maybe he could send Walter Ray a whole case of scotch.
Dylan didn’t know exactly how many daughters the judge actually had. Walter Ray had gotten divorced years ago, and when his ex-wife had moved away, the girls only visited Wrangler’s Creek every now and then. Or at least that had been the case until Melanie had moved back after she’d finished college.
He picked up the purse so he could take it back inside and add it to the pile of clothes. Since the identity of the naked woman was bad news number five, that had to mean he was good to go at least for the rest of the day.
Or not.
Dylan heard the sound of an engine right before he saw the cop car pull up in front of the house. It wasn’t the local cops, either. The cruiser had San Antonio Police on the door.
A tall, lanky man in uniform stepped out. “I’m looking for Dylan Granger,” he said, and he flashed his badge.
Hell. What now? Had Walter Ray sent someone to look for his daughter?
“I’m Dylan Granger.” He tucked the purse in his back pocket and walked toward the cop. “Is there a problem?”
The cop didn’t answer. He just motioned to someone inside the cruiser, and a moment later, a gray-haired woman stepped out. She wasn’t alone. She was gripping the hand of a little boy who couldn’t have been more than two or three years old.
Dylan silently repeated that—hell, what now?
“You need to sign for him,” the woman said. She had some papers in her left hand, and she started toward Dylan, pulling the little boy with her.
Dylan shook his head. “Why do I need to sign? And who is he?”
The woman smiled as if there was something to smile about. “Well, Mr. Granger, according to this paper, this precious little boy is your son.”

TLC BOOK TOUR: Branded as Trouble by Delores Fossen - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're saddling up for a TLC Book Tours engagement starring the latest in the Wrangler's Creek series via Harlequin Books.  If you haven't caught sight of the cover yet, let me settle your mind about a few things...

Image result for cowboy gear

...YES, there's a cowboy pictured.
...YES, it's a gorgeous specimen of a man.
...NO, I still don't like the hat, books, or buckle.
...YES, I will stop insisted that I don't read books with cowboys in them since I seem to have run across more than my fair share recently, have indeed enjoyed them (again, minus the accessories), and feel no need to shy away from them provided they run the contemporary gambit of those I've read of late.

About the book...
Every town needs a bad boy, and Wrangler's Creek's has been gone far too long

Getting his high school girlfriend pregnant was just one square in Roman Granger's checkered past, but it changed him forever. When his son's mother skipped town after the birth, Roman decided to do the same, baby Tate in tow, hoping for a fresh start.

Now Roman fears his teenage son is following in his wayward footsteps, so he returns home to Wrangler's Creek, aiming to set him straight. It's there he encounters Tate's aunt, Mila Banchini, the good-girl opposite of Roman who's had a crush on him since childhood. The old spark between them undeniably never died, though Roman worries it'll only lead to heartache. But if falling for Mila is such a bad idea, why does everything about holding her feel so right?

If you're looking for an easy ride into the sunset, think again. Mila and Roman have been dancing around each other for decades... it's not gonna change overnight. No matter what mojo Vita works. No matter how many not so subtle hints are dropped. No matter how many people seem to know about her "v" status that really shouldn't (no, really...they shouldn't, WHY is this public information?!). However, if one of them happened to take a step in the other's direction, play the game by the rules of the other, and make an offer that could hardly be refused... well then, that just might change things. For better or worse though, now that remains to be seen...in the mean time, I highly suggest you watch out for the sparks because like it or not, they're gonna fly.

Roman is the "branded" one, but aside from teenage pranks and a bad judgment call when it came to bedroom activities, he's really not a bad guy.  Sure he can be surly (he also has a teenage son, so there you go), he's on the road A LOT (but he's gonna pay the bills), and he has this odd little "three times" rule when it comes to the women he beds (commitment phobe, natch), but that's only half the man before us.  Roman is also fiercely protective of those he cares for (seriously, don't mess with the family), tries his hardest to be a good father (did I mention, don't mess with the family?), and follows that dumb rule to a "T" so that neither he, his son, nor the women involved get hurt.   See?  Tip top guy...even when he does have to kick some butt.  As much as I was surprised by Roman's depth and character, I really loved the way Mila was written.

Mila is the good girl in this equation and we're talking squeaky clean. The fact that her singular status is so well known boggles my mind...I mean, it's not like she wears a scarlet "V" on her forehead, or took an ad out on the local billboard, or something, and yet somehow, EVERYONE knows.  Cie la vie, she doesn't let it get to her, so why should we?  She was a breath of fresh air to the typical leading lady profile and a lot of fun!  (Hello...fantasy dates?  What the heck?  Have I missed something?  Is this a thing?)  She rolled with the punches (her infamous status, paternal dilemmas, etc), navigated having a mother who was certainly outside the norm (not even mentioning the cousin, ugh!), lived well, and loved fiercely.  Everything she did was done with heart, and everyone who's life she touched was all the better for it.  Now don't get me wrong, she's not a saint...and under someone's tutelage will definitely be exploring other sides to herself...but she is a good person and perhaps just the right match to break someone's superior control skills.  *ahem*

When all is said and done, I really enjoyed this one...characters, story, and community included!  The only downers for me were the crass language at times (Roman is a typical guy, foul language and all), and the darn cowboy hats, boots, and buckles. Otherwise, color me a fan!  Recommended for adult Contemporary Romance fans due to some smexy content.
