TLC BOOK TOUR: Branded as Trouble by Delores Fossen - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're saddling up for a TLC Book Tours engagement starring the latest in the Wrangler's Creek series via Harlequin Books.  If you haven't caught sight of the cover yet, let me settle your mind about a few things...

...YES, there's a cowboy pictured.
...YES, it's a gorgeous specimen of a man.
...NO, I still don't like the hat, books, or buckle.
...YES, I will stop insisted that I don't read books with cowboys in them since I seem to have run across more than my fair share recently, have indeed enjoyed them (again, minus the accessories), and feel no need to shy away from them provided they run the contemporary gambit of those I've read of late.

Sound good?
All better?
Do we agree?
Okay, moving on then because it's time to find out just what makes Roman the troublemaker he's made out to be...and discover why he may just be your next book boyfriend.  Ready, set, READ....

About the book...
Every town needs a bad boy, and Wrangler's Creek's has been gone far too long

Getting his high school girlfriend pregnant was just one square in Roman Granger's checkered past, but it changed him forever. When his son's mother skipped town after the birth, Roman decided to do the same, baby Tate in tow, hoping for a fresh start.

Now Roman fears his teenage son is following in his wayward footsteps, so he returns home to Wrangler's Creek, aiming to set him straight. It's there he encounters Tate's aunt, Mila Banchini, the good-girl opposite of Roman who's had a crush on him since childhood. The old spark between them undeniably never died, though Roman worries it'll only lead to heartache. But if falling for Mila is such a bad idea, why does everything about holding her feel so right?

If you're looking for an easy ride into the sunset, think again. Mila and Roman have been dancing around each other for decades... it's not gonna change overnight. No matter what mojo Vita works. No matter how many not so subtle hints are dropped. No matter how many people seem to know about her "v" status that really shouldn't (no, really...they shouldn't, WHY is this public information?!). However, if one of them happened to take a step in the other's direction, play the game by the rules of the other, and make an offer that could hardly be refused... well then, that just might change things. For better or worse though, now that remains to be seen...in the mean time, I highly suggest you watch out for the sparks because like it or not, they're gonna fly.

Roman is the "branded" one, but aside from teenage pranks and a bad judgment call when it came to bedroom activities, he's really not a bad guy.  Sure he can be surly (he also has a teenage son, so there you go), he's on the road A LOT (but he's gonna pay the bills), and he has this odd little "three times" rule when it comes to the women he beds (commitment phobe, natch), but that's only half the man before us.  Roman is also fiercely protective of those he cares for (seriously, don't mess with the family), tries his hardest to be a good father (did I mention, don't mess with the family?), and follows that dumb rule to a "T" so that neither he, his son, nor the women involved get hurt.   See?  Tip top guy...even when he does have to kick some butt.  As much as I was surprised by Roman's depth and character, I really loved the way Mila was written.

Mila is the good girl in this equation and we're talking squeaky clean. The fact that her singular status is so well known boggles my mind...I mean, it's not like she wears a scarlet "V" on her forehead, or took an ad out on the local billboard, or something, and yet somehow, EVERYONE knows.  Cie la vie, she doesn't let it get to her, so why should we?  She was a breath of fresh air to the typical leading lady profile and a lot of fun!  (Hello...fantasy dates?  What the heck?  Have I missed something?  Is this a thing?)  She rolled with the punches (her infamous status, paternal dilemmas, etc), navigated having a mother who was certainly outside the norm (not even mentioning the cousin, ugh!), lived well, and loved fiercely.  Everything she did was done with heart, and everyone who's life she touched was all the better for it.  Now don't get me wrong, she's not a saint...and under someone's tutelage will definitely be exploring other sides to herself...but she is a good person and perhaps just the right match to break someone's superior control skills.  *ahem*

When all is said and done, I really enjoyed this one...characters, story, and community included!  The only downers for me were the crass language at times (Roman is a typical guy, foul language and all), and the darn cowboy hats, boots, and buckles. Otherwise, color me a fan!  Recommended for adult Contemporary Romance fans due to some smexy content.

Definitely not the kind of 'cowboy'books I remember my granddad reading and they most CERTAINLY didn't have covers like this.

I admire and revere cowboys who have ethics, morals, principles and strength of character which is lacking in today's world. They represent everything which is important and the basics and foundations which are vital in order to succeed and accomplish in life.
