Silver Dagger Book Tours presents...NEW CAMELOT series by Barbara Russell - EXCERPT + GIVEAWAY!

A Knight to Celebrate
New Camelot Prequel
by Barbara Russell

Genre: YA Arthurian Steampunk Fantasy Romance

Nathair and two other fellow cadets of the Sir Lancelot’s Academy for Knights are pulling a prank on the ladies of Lady Guinevere’s Academy for Damsels. After the ladies filled the cadets’ quivers with honey, it’s only fair that the cadets return the favour.

**Only .99 cents!!**

THE FIRST RULE to be a good, no, a great thief was to be patient. Hurry would get Nathair caught, and getting caught picking the lock of Lady Guinevere’s Academy for Damsels meant an immediate expulsion from Sir Lancelot Academy for Knights, a month grounded at home, and the end of his dream of becoming a knight.
But with his fellow cadets fretting around him and urging him to be fast, the noise of the night patrols roaming New Camelot’s streets, and the looming fear that a clockwork knight might discover them, he wasn’t particularly prone to follow this first rule.
Not that he was a real thief. He’d never stolen anything. So far, he’d used his pilfering skills to help his best friend, Tristan, enter the ladies’ academy to meet his girlfriend of the moment. If Sir Lancelot had been alive today, almost five hundred years after King Arthur’s death, he wouldn’t be impressed by what the young knights in training were about to do. Protecting the ladies was one of the first rules of the Knight Code. Heck, Nathair’s mother wouldn’t be impressed or amused.
He was the first dark-skinned cadet, member of the tribe of the Snake, to almost become a knight, and he might blow his career tonight. But two days ago, the girls of the Lady Guinevere had filled the cadets’ quivers with honey. So, it was only fair that the cadets returned the favour.
“Will it take long, Nathair?” Raymond asked, biting his fingernails. His gaze darted around, and his chest strained the jacket of the cadets’ uniform.
Nathair slid a thin knife into the slit between the door and the doorframe. “It’ll take the time that it’s needed.”
He paused to wipe his clammy hands over his trousers and to push back his hair. A sliver of anxiety crawled up his neck like a spider, but he ignored it. He’d picked this lock dozens of times. He knew it intimately, better than the cabbage field in his farmhouse. Yet that night the lock didn’t want to yield to his touch. The knife jammed even though the lock hadn’t been changed. He was sure of that. It was the same, rusty old lock of a few days ago.
Raymond shifted his weight and blew air on his hands. The blue cloak swished about his ankles. “Can’t you speed up?”
Tristan swatted his shoulder. “First, don’t disturb Nat while he’s working. He tends to become sloppy when you push him.”
“No, I don’t,” Nathair gritted out, sticking the second knife in the lock.
“You do.” Tristan waved a dismissive hand before returning his attention to Raymond. “And second, why did you wear the academy uniform? If someone sees us, they’ll know the Sir Lancelot’s cadets broke into the Guinevere’s Academy.”

A Knight in Distress

New Camelot #1

Knights are supposed to rescue damsels. That’s the natural order. So when Nathair, a knight in training, finds himself rescued by the princess he’s supposed to save, he’s annoyed. And when the princess proves she can fight like a knight? Well, that’s enough for a boy to think about a career change.

A Damsel in Shiny Armor

New Camelot #2

After fighting dragons, wild Vikings, and clockwork monsters, Nathair is facing the biggest challenge of his life: proposing to Bryhannon. Apparently, flowers and a three-month salary worth ring aren’t enough because she doesn’t seem thrilled by the proposal. She has a devastating power to control, Reapers to face, and more importantly she has to find the courage to tell Nathair that she’s a Morrigan.

When I discovered cozy mystery and crime novels, I fell in love with Hercules Poirot and Sherlock Holmes. Then I grew up and . . . Nah, I’m joking. I didn’t grow up. Don’t grow up, folks! It’s a trap.

Gravely Inanimated by Esther Wheelmaker

Hi guys!
Welcome back to the site that aims to please the reader in you MOST days of the week….Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Okay, I know what you must be thinking…what’s up with the “MOST” days statement?  Well, the way I figure it, it’s probably more accurate than EVERY day because frankly speaking, my posts, my book choices, no matter how close you are to me personally or reading taste wise, are not ALWAYS going to hit the spot.  Sometimes they’ll be DEAD ON for me and left of center for all of you; other times, vice a versa.  My point is, hopefully at least some of the days that you visit, you’ll find something to spark your imagination, a “must read” for your wish list, or even a title you’ve read that you’d simply like to throw your two cents in about.  That is at the very least my goal.  How am I doing?  Well, only you can determine that.  Now, let’s get off the soapbox and back into today’s post…

Our genre of the day…YOUNG ADULT.
Our sub-cat of sorts….ZOMBIES.
Our sub-sub-cat….STEAMPUNK.

Now, before you run off screaming into the night (or if you’re already jumping for joy, simmer down a sec!), I beg you to reconsider for there is more to this one than first meets the eye.  Ladies and gents, don your petticoats and goggles and prepare the steam powered horses, it’s time for a jaunt into book 1 of the Zombie Steampunk series..

About the book…

“A love that’s formidable, revenge that must be taken and a voodoo queen that
roots fear in the hearts of the innocent; all while zombies eat people.”

It has been thirty years since England was plagued by zombies. Humans fear for their lives while the dead kill the living. By the cover of night, a man known only as Aeron hunts these creatures. On one foggy evening he finds Lucille Knight's life in jeopardy and Aeron's interest is instantly peaked when he saves the young lady. But Aeron will have competition when Lucy meets Lord Garrett Ashdown, son of the Inventor, Earl Thomas.  Lucy is drawn to the masked man and equally mysterious Lord. With one concealing his true identity and the other hiding a ghastly secret, she does not know which one is less dangerous. Will she be able to be with the man she chooses when she learns the awful truth?

Lucy and Emily.
Aeron and Garrett.
So much to mention, so little space to type!
Well, okay, so there is technically a plethora of space, but there’s really only so much you’ll stick around for so for the sake of keeping your attention, I’ll be brief.

I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF ZOMBIES.

Nope.
It’s true.
No Walking Dead.  No Zombie 5K runs…or hobbles.  No zombie family stickers on the car.  No contemplating what my zombie name would be in grr’s and arr’s.  With the whole slow motion or stumbling run footage and endless brain eating quest, it’s just not my thing.  So what possessed me to read this one?  Well, the synopsis of course!  It doesn’t exactly lend to the status quo and so I felt the typical zombie-esque nature might be squelched to some degree.  When I began the book, I found something entirely different…

*dun dun dunnn*

The first few pages in, I almost stopped.  Yes, you read that right….I almost pulled out, took a break, saved it for a not-so-sunny-day, or a dusty jump drive to be packed away for who knows how long. Luckily, I’m not the sort of person who reads and ditches…and it panned out REALLY well! That’s right.  By the time I finished the ebook, I was sold and ready for the next one (*wink wink* …just kidding on the wink there, well, sorta. ^_^).  You come to know the characters , loving and hating them in equal measures depending on the situation.  For example, Aeron can be a devil in disguise and still a complete BUTT at times.  Garrett can charm the…well, his way into anyway, but he’s a player for sure and can he be dense!  All their back and forth play leaves our little Kitty, err, um…Lucy…with so much on her plate, she’s not sure if she’s coming or going.  Speaking of Lucy….

Whilst our leading lady’s head spins over possible suitor choices (both of her choice and her father’s ~shudders~), life deals her another staggering blow, all while she and her friends are partying it up in the most fashionably chic steampunk garb possible.  (No really…I have a friend that ADORES this style and she can actually make costumes!  Totally want to run it by her for a possible Halloween option.)  The loss cuts her to her core while revealing secrets (and identities!) she never even fathomed, yet in the end she becomes a better version of herself for it all.  I won’t tell you how, why, or because of whom, but rest assured, it’s well worth the epage journey.

Well...maybe not LITERALLY...  *-*

So, in conclusion, we have life and romance, parties and funerals, friends and foes, secrets and revelations, battles both of the heart and for the heart (and for their very lives!), and zombie hoards possibly being controlled by some evil mumbo-mamo for reasons not disclosed…yet.  Oh, and did I mention there’s a TWIST on the zombie part too?  Hehehe…yeah, I wasn’t expecting it either and was rather surprised that it worked SO well!  Curious?  GOOD!  Now, go grab a copy to call your own, read it and tell me what you think!
