BLOG TOUR: Sleepless in Manhattan by Sarah Morgan + GIVEAWAY!

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're playing host to a TLC Book Tours promotion starring the latest release from a seasoned Harlequin Books author.  Though new to me, she's published over 70 titles in her career thus far, and if this one is any indication of her writing...I can see that her popularity is well deserved.  Not one to keep you in suspense, let's get to today's blog tour guest and book of choice...

About the book....
Cool, calm and competent, events planner Paige Walker loves a challenge. After a childhood spent in and out of hospitals, she’s now determined to prove herself—and where better to take the world by storm than in the exhilarating bustle of Manhattan? But when Paige is let go from the job she loves, she must face her biggest challenge of all—going it alone.

Except launching her own events company is nothing compared to hiding her outrageous crush on Jake Romano—her brother’s best friend, New York’s most in-demand date, and the only man to break her heart. When Jake offers Paige’s fledgling company a big chance, their still-sizzling chemistry starts giving her sleepless nights. But can she convince the man who trusts no one to take a chance on forever?

The characters themselves label their story as a version of 'When Harry Met Sally'.  Now, I'm a fairly big Romantic Comedy fan, but I admit...that's one I actually HAVEN'T seen.  Now, now...no need to get your panties in a twist (there'll be other reasons for that later....*ahem*) as it is on my "to watch" list, but if I can take the words of the leading ladies as "gospel truth", they're pretty much on target.

A Contemporary Romance book by genre, this is a story of the possibility, power, and all consuming nature of love...and yet it's so much more.  Yeah, I know...do you really need more?  Trust me, THIS more, you do.  At the heart of everything, their day-to-day lives, continued presence in New York, endeavors in the name of love and career...at the very foundation is friendship.  It's the most basic building block there is and yet so very valuable to both sexes.  We've got guy friends, as illustrated by Matt and Jake.  When the going gets tough, the tough play video games and work through their aggravations but no matter how heavy the topic, the friendship remains. I loved how Matt always knew the right thing to say but not in a pompous a** sorta way.  Jake had so much heart underneath all that snarky (and hot) exterior, but I was on to his little game.  A lot of books have male bonding, but these two are stuck like glue and it's definitely an amazing aspect to read.  Then we have the women...

Women friends or groups are not that uncommon.  Many stories are written about the very subject, the dynamics of which differ depending on what group you're in and their personalities.  Here, we have the likes of Carrie and the girls, but instead of a quartet, we've a trio, and they are just as close, just as loyal, and just as fierce.  Paige, our leading lady, may have a damaged heart physically, but spiritually she's made of steel.  She's made it her mission to live her life bravely and take chances...can't say she's always doing that but some of that isn't exactly her fault (you'll learn more on that when you read the book).  The girl hits rock bottom career wise and STILL carries on, creating Urban Genie, a company that is destined to become a powerhouse in the event concierge arena.  The only area she's not 100% risk taking in is her relationships, a side effect from a bad experience in her youth, but that doesn't mean she's not going to try.  Then we have Eva, the sweetheart with fairy tales in her eyes and the cooking skills of the gods.  She's the kindness that holds their group together.  She puts her heart into everything and while it may get stepped on sometimes, she regrets not a moment and still keeps her cheery demeanor.  Last but not least, there's Frankie.  She's the rough/tough of their trio, not afraid to kick some butt and take numbers too.  While she values her independence, I do believe I smell a story in her future that may just lead to a happily ever after in codependent bliss...just don't tell HER that because she's liable to slug you.  The three of them offer each other the best support system a girl could ask for with the potential for anything to happen when they get together.

In the end, you'll come for the romance (which there is plenty of), fan yourself from the flames of pent up desires, but stay for the sheer happiness, and laughter their friendships bring (and the geek humor, hence my pic choice above).  It's a unique mix of a story and one that I'm glad I journeyed through the pages of.  I will keep my recommendation for the adult crowd though as there are a few steamy times to contend with but I have to say, they were handled exceptionally well and leave you just as breathless as the characters...especially the elevator scene, and the rain scene, and...okay, well  you get the picture.

Wow! 70 titles, that's some going.

Initially not a book that appealed to me but come the end of your post you had won me over. This is definitely one to keep in mind for the next time I fancy a book of this genre.

I actually have never seen When Harry Met Sally either, so you're not alone in that!

I'm definitely looking forward to reading this book this summer. Thanks for being a part of the tour!

I've read several other Sarah Morgan series and loved them, I don't expect this to be any different. Plus, brother's-best-friend is one of my favorite tropes!
