Are you an avid reader looking for your next "fix"? Can't bear to be without some form of reading material in your spare time? Welcome to my world! Whether you are seeking a new book to "feed your need", or you are an author seeking an unbiased point of view on your own recent masterpiece, this is the place to be. With life as with books, you never know where the next step might take you...
So, QUICK NOTE...posts may not be on schedule or complete for a few days. We're right in the path of Hurricane Michael (like so many others), and with work demanding more of my time (and off time), plus house preps and who knows what going to happen in the next 24-48 hours, reading and blogging (as much as I adore it) had to take a back burner. My apologies to any tours or promised review dates...I'll get them back on track ASAP. Hopefully, I"ll be able to update this message with a "hey, it's all good" and continue on with no issues, but in the mean time, stay safe, and happy reading!

Make this National Make a Friend Day COLORBLIND!

Hi there!

Today is NATIONAL MAKE A FRIEND DAY and we're asking YOU to make it COLORBLINDThat's right...Colorblind... as in the concept and the book that shares the same word as its title by author Lee Harper Brown.  If you haven't read the work, you really should...trust me on this.  It tells "the story of Lisa, a 6th grade girl who dealt with bullies and racism in the 1960s" in a short and decidedly not sweet (due to the subject matter covered) way, but oh so telling of an age not so far in our past to be considered ancient history.  The author does a wonderful job of reminding us that while, yes, everyone can be a victim of bullying for whatever reason, it's up to ALL OF US to stop it in its tracks, whether we're one of many or a voice of one.  In truth, these darker aspects of humanity are in the news pretty much on a daily basis across all classes, ages, and races...so while time may have marched on, it seems we still have a lot to learn, and making friends is definitely one way to help break through those barriers.

So, in the spirit of the day, I bring you a very special book and subject matter tie-in that's also loads of fun. It's the "What Kind of Friend are You?" Bully/Bestie Colorblind Quiz! Oh come on, we all LOVE a good quiz and this little beauty has 10 questions, each with 5 multiple choice answers that will tell you which category of friend you fall into, your strengths, weaknesses and how to be a better friend. The results also reveal which character in Colorblind you are most like. It only takes about 30 seconds and leaves each taker with a positive message...and who couldn't use THAT in their lives? So this National Make a Friend Day, I ask you to be COLORBLIND and share the love with you and yours.
