Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining Random House Children's Books for a blog tour celebrating a new arrival to the Storybook arena. It's a story starring an unusual little guy that, shall we say, can get a bit prickly? It's not his fault...HONEST! He was simply born that way and, as his uncle kindly reminds him, outer beauty may capture the eye (and little Elmore is handsome), but inner beauty can capture the heart. Ready to meet our bookish guest? Let's! Ready or not, here comes today's book of choice...

In short, this was a lovely little tale about a porcupine named Elmore simply looking for a friend. With charming illustrations (seriously, he's such a cutie!) bringing our little friend's dilemma to life, you can't help but fall in love with this storybook from start to pointed finish. Even though things didn't turn out quite the way you might expect (or at least the way I was expecting), Elmore grows into his quills rather nicely, and with the friendship of his pen pal forest friends behind him, his gentle ways and warming smile remind us that a sunny disposition can turn the most prickly of days right side once again.
The author does a wonderful job of showing readers the hardships that a little porcupine might face, especially on the friendship front...all those quills make hugging hard...but allows him a happily ever after of a sort and the chance to show the world (as the world will show him) that you just can't keep a good porcupine down.
