Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays here at Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers! Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Normally seen on a Tuesday, hence the title, we're doing things a little different seeing as how I had a blog tour guest in attendance that but didn't want you to miss your weekly dose of bookish goodness.
On the menu this week...two fiction books both from the realm of fantasy though one has a paranormal edge while the other explores the work of imagination. Ready...set...here it comes!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friends will talk for hours about the most mundane things and find joy in it. Friends can also speak eloquently with just a few words at the roughest of times. But true friendships are forged in the silences. It's when you find the person that you can be with and never say a word for a very long time and still know what each other is thinking, that you have found a true friend.-- pg 57, Mathias Bootmaker and the Keepers of the Sandbox, book 1: It is Said... by Edward Medina
Lovely passage, isn't it? This ebook is chock full of delicious goodness like this and SO much imagination! I can't begin to delve into it right now without almost doing a full-fledged review and I'm not quite ready for that yet (still more to read), but I'll definitely get back to you on it. ^_^
She sat, blinking for a moment, scanning the trees for his shape. The drumming began to pick up, and her heart thumped faster. Every horror movie she'd seen started like this. She'd get killed by an ax-wielding wolfman executive, and Trick would come back and find her body right before he was chopped down, too.-- pg 74, Wolf Springs Chronicles, book 1: Unleashed by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie
When I first read the passage above, I actually flagged it for this teaser post. It made me laugh even though you were seriously worried about Katelyn (the main character) at the time. Gotta say it, these ladies sure know how to write a great piece of YA fiction! Thoroughly enjoying the story so far. For more on their writing techniques, check out yesterday's guest post...and stay tuned for the blog tour to swing by next week when I'll be posting my review!
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR.*
Until next time....happy reading!
Oh wow. I love that first quote.
True friendships are forged in the silences...... not that I'd like my blogger buddies to be silent, at least not for too long.
I was going to same the same thing Terry (Petty Witter) did above... great line...
Juju: Me too! ^_^
Petty Witter: LOL...very true.
Sheila: Agreed!
