Short and Sweet: I Like Cupcakes by Olga Kilicci

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today’s book selection is as delectable as they come…without being an outright cookbook that is (though it does include a recipe!).  It’s a children’s book all about a tasty baked good that is as much fun to eat as they are to make (and share!).  So as to not over talk this simple but lovely bookish gem, I give you today’s book of choice….

By

Isn’t the cover adorable?  Trust me the illustrations within continue the “ahh” factor 100%.  This short but sweet title I stumbled upon when investigating another book…funny how one literary road leads to another.

If you couldn’t tell from the title, this book is all about a little girl’s love of cupcakes.  Who DOESN’T like cupcakes?!?  Well, okay…I’m sure there are SOME people out there who don’t but really, even those poor souls can delight in this childish romp filled with creativity and imagination.  From chocolate covered to honey drenched and strawberry topped to flower embellished, the big and the small are pictured within in whimsical fashion.  My favorite illustration?  Hands down it would have to be the “cupcakes with sprinkles” scene.  It depicts the little girl in a yellow rain slicker carrying a GINORMOUS cupcake umbrella that is protecting her from (and snatching up) the falling sprinkles.  too cute.

At book’s end, you’ll be pleased to discover (as will the little ones) a recipe for Fairy Cupcakes!  That’s right…complete with cream cheese frosting (and yes, I will be trying them out).  So even after the book is read, the fun doesn’t stop…not that it ever does anyway.  ^_^  Side note, I have to give KUDOS to the author/illustrator for the inclusion of the “ask an adult for assistance” warning as well as the reminder that “cupcakes are a SOMETIMES food”.  Both will definitely go a long way in preventing unwanted situations regarding these tasty treats from occurring.

In conclusion, an uber fast read aimed at the kiddos but for the cupcake lover in us all.  It will capture your heart with its wonderful artwork while the simple story…will leave you with a craving for the little icing-ed devils.  (LOL.  No really…must.have.cupcake!)  ^_^

Anything with cupcake in the title is a winner as far as I'm concerned.

Oh I was just talking to a fellow reviewer friend about cupcakes! They don't have them in France and she wanted to make some. :) Funny to see your review with just talking about them. :) Thank you!
