Hi there readers!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers….the place to be to help satisfy the reader in you, for a little while at least. Today we play guest to a book tour once again, rounding out the week that shall be forever more known as “book-tours-running-wild” here at the site, but today’s post is a little different than most others. How so? Read on my friend read on…
The featured title today is not a book I’ve read, but one that I will be reading in the future (as in some time early next year…date is to be determined)…so why did I choose to participate in a tour you may ask? (Go ahead, ask it…you know you want to…) Simple…because when I read the press release and story behind the book, it brought tears to my eyes. Yes my friends, this one is not going to be all rainbows and sunshine as it deals with the true story of a life lost too soon…and yet….at the same time, it IS that bright and sunny gem because of its aim. The words of wisdom shared by Ruthe Rosen from her daughter Karla are simple, yet touching….profound beyond her years…and full of hope. Let’s have a peek at it, shall we? Our guest of the day and featured title is…
Never Give Up:
How to Find Hope and Purpose in Adversity
By
About the book….
When Ruthe Rosen’s fourteen-year-old daughter, Karla, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and given only a year to live, Ruthe and her entire family did more than cope with the unimaginable—they embraced it. In their love and faith they found the strength to be there for Karla in every way as she endured chemotherapy and radiation treatments. And when, after a year of hopes lifted and hopes dashed, Karla lost her fight with cancer, they created The Let It Be Foundation in her honor, turning their memory of her courage and unwavering optimism into a legacy of community service. Throughout her ordeal, Karla never succumbed to self-pity or despair, and despite their grievous loss, neither did her loved ones.
The Let It Be Foundation helps families with children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses or medical conditions. It provides such services as housekeeping, grocery shopping and meals, opportunities for family recreation, and help in meeting the needs of siblings. This caring assistance allows the children and their families to maintain a sense of normalcy in their lives and sustain hope as they battle the most serious illnesses. Ruthe Rosen’s experience and the lessons she learned will inspire, educate, and provide readers the tools to make a difference in the lives of others.
Proceeds from the sale of this book will benefit The Let It Be Foundation

I'd rate this one a two-tissue-box minimum.
I volunteer at Give Kids the World, which is an organization here in Central Florida that brings down families who have children battling life-threatening illnesses and gives them a stress-free week of fun away from doctors and hospitals.
For the Parents Night Out events, we volunteers watch over the kids for the night, playing with them, making sure they eat, accompanying them to whatever the evening's entertainment is (magician, kids' comedian, etc), and just being a friend to them.
The first time I was brought to GKtW, I thought I'd be a sobbing mess, crying over all these sick and dying children. But the thing is, these kids were so excited to be here, going to the theme parks, getting away from doctors and hospitals, that they didn't have time to feel bad for themselves. And likewise, I didn't either. I had so much fun just hanging out with these kids, there was no room for tears.
To this day, it still amazes me how optimistic kids like these and Karla are in the face of such overwhelming darkness.
Smiles!
Lori
