Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Okay, so I know it's April 1st, as in April Fool's Day but I'm too pooped to pull a fast one on you this year...okay, well maybe a little one. *snicker* Yep. It's been another busy week life and reading wise. Here's hoping you've found a moment to yourself amongst the chaos. As for me, I'm making my way through the pages as often as I can. Today, we're turning our attention to a title that celebrated it's book birthday last month via Simon & Schuster. It's a Contemporary Romance with a bit of a mystery mixed in giving readers something more to look forward to than a potential connection of the heart...not that something more would be needed, but it was a nice plus. Without further ado, I give you today's book of choice...

About the book...
The jury is out on whether this match is made in heaven—but with sexy Camden Whitman as lead counsel, they’ll surely find in this sizzling couple’s favor! You’ll want to see the ultra-sexy new Unexpected Heroes romance, based on New York Times bestselling author Melody Anne’s unmatched Billionaire Bachelors series, in chambers.
Growing up in a big adoptive family, gorgeous small-town attorney Cam has always had a life rich with love. But the one thing he’s missing is the perfect woman to grow old and raise a family with—and send sparks flying on those cold Montana nights! Still, Cam knows if it wasn’t for his caring parents and brothers, he wouldn’t be where he is today, so he tries to pay it forward whenever he can. And if the client happens to be a modern-day damsel in distress, he’ll happily don a suit of shining armor. This time, his sister-in-law’s best friend Grace is in serious trouble, and Cam’s determined to get his smart, beautiful client off the hook. But as attorney-client privilege brings Cam and Grace closer than they ever imagined, the sexual tension heats up. It’s clear before the gavel comes down that the verdict is going to be red hot!

Definitely not a book for the kiddos, this title is still much more than a mere romance. Allow me to explain the ins and outs, pluses and minuses, that I discovered on my reading journey. Taking a page from Sage's book, I'm organizing my thoughts on this read in a list format. After all, what's wrong with taking a little control now and then, right? *wink wink*
1. A lack of transitions...two places in particular. First, when Grace reveals her big dark secret to her bestie...she just blurts it out. Now, I'm fine with the idea of "getting it over with" but it just seemed like such an odd moment to share this never-before-told unfortunate truth. Second time around was after a fight/disagreement between our leading man and woman. One second, we've closed the door on the evening, the next we're declaring our intentions and back at it like rabbits in springtime. Grant it the second was just a matter of time seeing how these two fight each other and themselves when it comes to their connection, but it didn't settle right; it felt like I had missed something.
2. Once word, closure. We found it in many places, such as the old boyfriend, the bride-from-you-know-where with the groom that can go you-know-where, the parents (to some degree), the Whitman's, and even her sense of self. There were two (again with the number TWO!) that never quite reached an end. First up, Grace's little secret. I can't reveal what it is but I can say that I was thrilled for her and yet never saw it shared with others. I thought for sure in the Epilogue but nope. Nary a word. The second time was with the case against her. It was mentioned, talked about, fought around, and all together a big part of the story playing out behind the soul mates and yet...once the reveal occurs, it's a mere whisper of a delivery. There's no huffing, no puffing, no big GOTCHA or THIS IS IT moment. It just sorta happens and it's over. The end. Was I disappointed? A bit because HELLO, the build up....but in the end, it didn't kill the story for me.
3. Cam and Grace. Oh my word! The sparks these two throw throughout the novel is ridiculous and yet they manage to keep you guessing as to whether they'll actually end up anywhere but in bed together now and again. Seriously. It's not overkill in the actual act department but there are definitely some adult only scenes and how they manage to keep bungling up their potential couple status is infuriating....in the best way possible. Aside from their obvious connection that may or may not be realized (not spoiling it!), they are a great all by their lonesomes. Each character stands on their own two feet for better or worse. They've both stubborn, care deeply for those they allow into their circles, and are more than willing to take the bullet (perhaps literally) for one another. Though Grace is gun shy to give her heart after being burned several times over, Cam isn't without his own doubts...he's just muscled his way through them faster than her. OH and what those muscles can do.... *ahem* Anyway, where was I?
4. I adored the wedding scene! It's not what you think, but it does involve a wedding. Let's just say what starts out as a martyr fest on Grace's part quickly turns into a girl fighting, hair pulling, punch throwing, knock down event worthy of stares, gossip, and a fist pump of solidarity. The nerve of that Kitty girl! Ugh! I just want to throw something at her...and let's now even discuss the "mother". So not worthy of that love filled moniker despite actually giving birth to Grace.
To conclude, much more positives than negatives that combine to create a memorable read with characters you grow to love and a backstory you'll be itching to uncover. What's that? Oh, didn't you catch that? This is the THIRD book in the set and despite not having read the first two, it was grand on its own...though like I said, if you're like me, you'll be wanting to read the other two STAT. Get ready to add a few more book boyfriends to your list ladies because the Whitman's have definitely arrived!
