Taste Testing Tuesdays

Good morning (or whatever time it is where you are), everyone!
Welcome to another installment of Taste Testing Tuesdays!
Taste Testing Tuesdays was inspired by 'Teaser Tuesdays', a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading

On the menu this week...one book I'm a little over halfway finished with that seems to hold more than meets the eye...and another that I'll be starting later tonight (hopefully), so we're BOTH getting a first taste.  Ready?  Time to tie the literary bib on...here come the teasers!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every person in the building, except Lahiri, was on their feet.  They knew they were seeing something never before witnessed.  Even the younger fighters who would be competing later stood mesmerized.
-- pg 46, Lifting the Wheel of Karma by Paul H Magid
So the author's love of a beautiful landscape is obvious as is his tendency to describe things in vivid detail...but answer me this; who is Lahiri?  What's with the GINORMOUS deer?  The dreams...prophetic?  I need answers!  Hopefully they are forth coming as this is the book I'm speeding through currently.  Watch for the blog tour to swing by next week...in the mean time, check out the sites on this week's itinerary!
This was no time to be choosy.  The monsters were so close I could hear the ragged breaths in their throats.  We reached the first of the round doors, skidding on to our knees beside it, twisting the lever and lifting the heavy hatch.
-- pg 50, Escape From Furnace, book 2:  Solitary by Alexander Gordon Smith (ARC)
O-O...umm, yeah.  I had actually won book 1 and an ARC of book 2 some time ago, so my cover is actually scarier looking than this one (if you can believe it).  Sounds like its gonna be just as good as (if not better than) the first book, which I finished this weekend and will be reviewing shortly (if I can finish re-reading the ending to a family member that I sorta read ahead of..hehe).  Stay tuned...and keep the lights on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
*Grab your current read
*Open to a random page
*Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title & author, too, so that other participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Until next time....happy reading!
Gina, I'm so glad that you're enjoying Paul's book. Thanks for featuring it as a teaser. You're right - you really do speed through wanting to find the answers.
