Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to the site that knows the value of a good read and recommends it as a past time to others day and night...Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're playing host to a blog tour that celebrates the written word not in stories per se, but from your heart to your hand to the page...more specifically, pen pals and journaling! Perhaps you had one as a child, I know I did in school, or kept your thoughts and passions in leather or spiral bounds pages, or maybe you STILL have one or do the other...whether they are a part of your past, or your present, this author makes a case for it being intertwined with your future. With the widespread use of all things online and "smart" now, it seems handwritten tokens of affection or passing thoughts are part of a bygone era...but they don't HAVE to be. It may not be instant gratification but the connections you build and the anticipation of when the next note will arrive or even having the chance to revisit your "old self" many years down the road, make for a lifetime of memories.
Ready to greet today's site guest? Grab your favorite pen, a stack of stationary or a journal of your choosing, it's time to introduce today's book of choice....

About the book...
Are you looking for a way to meet new people from all over the world, make new friends, and help others? The solution is simple and affordable—become a pen pal. In Dear Friend, author Cheri DeGroot shares the joys and rewards of becoming a pen pal and provides tips on sharing friendships through handwritten letters.
Based on fifty-three years of personal experience as a pen pal, DeGroot details how her lifelong passion for pen palling began and how her friendships with people from all over the United States have helped her through life’s good and bad times. This guide demonstrates the positive aspects of pen palling—from sharing news of family, hobbies and emotions to expanding their knowledge by learning about different cultures and different people.
Stressing the importance of communication, Dear Friend reveals how becoming a pen pal can help those who are lonely to find friendship, love, and happiness through the power of the written word.

Oh my goodness, this sounds good. I had loads of penpals through an international penpal organisation when I was a girl though sadly I'm no longer in touch with any of them. Seemingly a dying art which is a shame as I still enjoy sending and receiving proper letters.
