THE PUNKYDOOS TAKE THE STAGE
By Jennifer Jackson
Illustrated by Dan Andreasen
Disney Publishing Worldwide
So, this post had a decidedly different flair to start as I thought I was going to have a chance to interview the illustrator, but no harm no foul, it wasn't in the cards. Cie la vie, jumping right into the review...
The Punkydoos are made up of several AWESOME characters, both human and non. Lexi-Lou and the whole Punkydoos crew are vibrant and joyful. You can feel their energy radiating straight off the page. Whether you play an instrument like one of them or merely enjoy celebrating musical talent from the sidelines, you're bound to be engaged with this read. I can totally see it working for a group read, allowing for all age participation while a one on one read would give the reader a chance to utilize both the sights and the sounds incorporated in the text and AUDIO disc. In the end, you'll be encouraged to reach for your dreams while being reminded of the fact anything really worth having is going to take some work on our part. Question is...how bad do you want it? Recommended read for all ages, shapes, and sizes.
