Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Well, today is EARTH DAY, and what better time than now to celebrate a book that features...a librarian? Wait, wait, I haven't actually lost my mind. There was a method to my supposed madness. You see, while it IS in fact about an evil librarian (book 2, nonetheless), it takes place at a theater camp in the summertime, thus there's LOTS of flora, fauna, and general Mother Earth to take in, revel with, and....run through while trying to keep your breath in your body. Um, okay, so the last part is less earthy but you see my connection, right? Great! I knew I could count on you. Now, without further ado, let's dive into today's book of choice...

About the book...
Last fall, Cynthia Rothschild saved her best friend, as well as the entire student body, from the demon librarian, Mr. Gabriel, all while executing the most awesome set design for the school musical, Sweeney Todd. But now that all that demon stuff is behind her, Cyn is looking forward to the best summer ever at theater camp with her former-crush-and-now-boyfriend, Ryan Halsey. Once she gets to camp, though, Cyn realizes this summer might not be all she’s been hoping for. First, Ryan’s best camp friend is a girl (which Ryan had never mentioned to Cyn), and she just happens to be ridiculously pretty. Plus, it seems the demon stuff is not entirely over as Cyn had hoped. At least any new demons that show up to ruin her summer can't possibly be as evil as Mr. Gabriel. It's not like he could somehow come back to life to seek his terrible revenge or something. Best-selling author Michelle Knudsen brings back all the hilarity and horror (not to mention hot guys) in this sizzling sequel to Evil Librarian.
The stage is set for a fiendishly dramatic summer at theater camp for Cynthia and her boyfriend, Ryan. With no demons at all. Right?

All is fair in love and war...or is it?
Guess it depends on which side of the demon divide you're on.
Here we have book two in the Evil Librarian series (for a refresher on book one, check out my review), and we're right back where we left off, well sorta. Summer has arrived, the demon sightings have been next to none, and Cyn is set for a fun summer with Ryan (her BOYFRIEND!) while they explore their more dramatic side at theater camp. It's the PERFECT SET UP, right? Wrong. As it seems, Cyn is not destined to simply go through the rest of her days marked as a "cockroach" (you have to read book one to fully understand, but basically she's an oddity to demon-kind), but lending, and using those talents to keep everyone where they need to be. Too bad she had a tag-along on her last trip back from down below. Too bad the new ruler of that under realm called in one of her favors dragging Cyn to places she REALLY doesn't want to be. Too bad the new theater camp guy whose play she is stationed on is REALLY hot...but maybe not in all the normal ways. What's a girl to do? Let's just say that it's a good thing it all unfolds at theater camp because the drama is about to raise to award worthy levels.
Don't you love when you're reading a series and can step back into things without having to reread the first installment to reorient? That's exactly the case here...not that you don't want to read the first, just that it's easier to move forward instead of looking back. That's all Cyn wanted to do this summer and I was more than happy to watch her do it, but the complications that arise, whew! Let's just say despite the white lies, half truths, and cover ups, she does a bang up job of managing the lot of it on her own...no help from the boyfriend. *humpf* Seriously, he needed a good wake up call and boy does he have one coming. *-* I loved seeing the characters we came to know in book 1 show up again in book 2, though whether they were loved or loathed depends on the person...or demon. The new guys (or demons!) added to the mix were exciting, humorous, and...potential love interests? Uh-oh. Well, all things taken into account, you really can't blame her...much. Anyway...
I certainly enjoyed my time at camp and having never actually been to one, that's saying...okay, not a lot but I'm imaging the normal experience wouldn't be nearly as exciting. Curious to see what's next for those that survived this round (dun dun dunnnn!) and if the possibly last book in the set (gasp!) will tie things up neatly like the stacks in our beloved library, or open the door for something more. Guess we'll have to wait and see...
