Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their current tour starring a Women's Fiction title that's got one foot in reality and the other in show business. With an ambitious young leading lady and the pitfalls of Hollywood...what could POSSIBLY go wrong on the road to stardom? Well...let's just say plenty, but it provides for what sounds like fairly entertaining read! Ladies and gents, feast your eyes on today's title in the spotlight...
Production Values
A Monkey & Me novel
by
Liv Bartlet
About the book...
“Mornings like this I can understand the appeal of killer high heels. How they click with command down the sidewalk: Get out of my way, I’m in charge and I’ve got the footwear to prove it.”
At the age of 28, Kat Porter has become the it-girl of British TV Production. Gut, gumption, and artistry have carried her through a dozen impossible scenarios to arrive at her first run as Executive Producer, and now all three muses point to Ian Graham’s star power as the key to Los Angeles and golden statues.
But disaster looms as Ian twists Kat into a chameleon fit for success. Ian’s young daughter is thrown into the spotlight and Kat must face the consequences of her never-ending quest for acclaim.
Production Values takes a biting but fun look at Hollywood—from the way we interpret female ambition to the influence of the paparazzi on how TV shows and stars fail or succeed.

Sounds good, right?
That's what I said...what ye olde reading schedule was booked a bit too solid to entertain a review and while a spotlight is fine and dandy, sometimes you just want something a little bit MORE. Prepare for the MORE as we jump into a Q&A with the author team...

Q&A with Author Liv Bartlet
aka Becca McCulloch and Sarah McKnight
1) For those out there with less than no time, give us a glimpse of your novel in TEN WORDS OR LESS...
The consequences of placing ambition above loyalty or morality.
2) Writing a book with a partner has got to have its own set of rules. What has been your biggest challenge as a writing team? What about the biggest reward?
We have very different work rhythms, so there are a lot of times when one of us is gearing up for creativity and writing work as the other is winding down and just wants to go to bed. Right now that’s our biggest challenge — scheduling. The biggest reward is 2 published books that possibly wouldn’t exist if they had been attempted solo — that push-pull of our working styles also is an advantage. We complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
3) Authors write what they know and often base their characters off of those close at heart. Tell us, what character do you identify with most and why?
Becca: Tess. She’s the calm in the storm, always working for the good of those around her. But she’s also a storm of her own when her littles are at risk.
Sarah: Kat. Because she’s an insecure wreck beneath that brazen, selfish, assured exterior. And while I’m not nearly as selfish (I hope!) as she is, I completely understand needing to put on a front to hide anxiety and insecurity. Kat has imposter syndrome, she just hides it well.
4) If you didn’t go the writing route (and from your bios, I see it’s not either of your full time jobs), what would be your DREAM JOB?
Becca: I have my dream job. But if I could be anything, I’d be a doctor for international aid organizations.
Sarah: The dream job is full-time writer, but I would also love to be the music supervisor for a TV show, something along the lines of Grey’s Anatomy or Big Little Lies.
5) I gotta ask, given the choice...are you a stiletto or sneaker kind of person and why?
Becca: If I didn’t have cankles and a job that keeps me on my feet, I’d be 100% stilettos.
Sarah: Neither. Sneakers are ugly and stilettos are painful, give me boots in the winter and sandals in the summer.

About the author...
Liv Bartlet is the pseudonym for writing partners Becca McCulloch and Sarah McKnight, who have been building worlds and telling stories together for more than a decade. They’ve logged hours of behind-the-scenes movie and TV footage and challenged each other in a friendly Oscar guessing game every year this millennium. Lifelong Anglophiles, their Monkey & Me world sprang to vivid life on a trip to London that included divine pastries, sublime art, and a spectacular pratfall in the British Museum.
Becca is a professor, a scientist, and a secret romantic who insisted their first order of business in London was a meandering five-mile walk to see Big Ben. She lives with her husband, children, and an ever-expanding roster of pets in Logan, Utah.
Sarah is an Army brat, an Excel geek, and has a lot of opinions on the differences between science fiction and fantasy. She lives with her cat, Sir Jack—who is featured prominently on Liv’s Instagram —just outside Salt Lake City.
