About the book...
When Jess Thornton’s dad was lost at sea, the family coped in different ways, alone in their grief. Now, her mum seems to be going off the rails and her sister, Isla, who moved to France, is now back and determined to get their old family home on the market. And to make things worse, Isla appears to have hired the most obnoxious builder in the world to do the work. Jess could ignore the fact that women seem to be putty in his hands. As soon as I started this one, I knew I was in for a treat. I mean, come on....Jess is a WRITER who is freelancing for The Bookbinder Inn...can you imagine? Okay, so maybe it was just me LOVING the name of the inn, as well as her chosen profession, but I digress...I still stick with my gut reaction, I was gonna like this one, and I was not disappointed.
Jess was my girl, through and through. All the awkwardness, the nervous flirtations, the desire to hold on to hope, yet inner conflict of what actually makes sense...it all played into making her character someone I could relate to, as well as someone I'd like to know. Her sister, Isla, was...well, I'll be nice and say "a piece of work". Don't get me wrong, she had some drama going on in her life (and some inflicted on her that did make me come around a LITTLE bit), but the way she handled things, and how she imposed herself on everyone around her, didn't exactly place her in my good graces. Their mother, on the other hand, had my heart hurting for her. The way she held on to the memory of her husband, the painful depth to which it seated itself in everything she did...it was touching, yet heartbreaking. I get it, the lack of closure put a worse spin on even just losing someone, but wow...I just wanted to give her a hug. Now, someone else I wanted to hug, but umm, yeah...not in as comforting a way...*ahem*...the newest handyman-type in town, Seb. He's definitely handy to have around, and the family focus is heartwarming, but the added hurdles is something our gal Jess doesn't really need. Then again, the heart wants what it wants...
All in all, it was a story that delighted and surprised (did not see ending coming! ) which means another great add to your holiday reading list! I mean at this point, the more the merrier, am I right?

About the author...
Rosie [Green] has been scribbling stories ever since she was little.
Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by 'the baddies'.
Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all - unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.
Rosie's brand new series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. The latest, 'Bonfires & Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Cafe', is out now.
Watch out for 'A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Cafe', which will be published Christmas 2019.
Rosie is also writing a full-length, standalone book for Christmas 2019, entitled 'Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage'.
