About the book...
There’s a new Laird in town
Will he leave with a wife?
Angus MacDonald has just arrived in London to reclaim his land when he rescues Lady Isabella Wood from a cattle stampede! Their instant attraction is undeniable, but Isabella must wed this Season and Angus isn’t looking for a bride. His wild Hebridean home is a world away from London Society, so Isabella is completely out-of-bounds. Even if their connection is unlike anything he’s felt before.

First things first because I know you're staring heart-eyed at the cover duo above. It's not often that the UK and US edition are so VERY close! Usually there is a more dramatic difference, either the entire scene is changed, or a close-up versus zoomed out situation occurs...but with this one, well...it appears no one wanted to back away from his charming good looks, or lose the view of his tartan plaid. Can't say I blame them either! 😉 Now, on to that review...
Chòrd an leabhar seo rium!
Leis a h-uile teine, losgadh, agus toileachas a dh ’fhaodadh tu a bhith ag iarraidh, agus toradh a tha thu dha-rìribh ag iarraidh, tha an rud as ùire aig Catherine Tinley gu math iomchaidh airson luchd-leantainn Romance Eachdraidheil!
Seeing as many of you probably don't read nor speak Scottish Gaelic, which I don't either, but Google translate was kind enough to assist, here's the English version of my statement above.
I loved this book!
With all the fire, burn, and allure you could want, and an outcome you truly desire, Catherine Tinley's latest is a perfect fit for Historical Romance fans!
...and I stand by that statement in ANY language!
This was a great example of a clean romance that really delivers on not only the story, but the love side of things as well. For those readers that prefer "more" in their novels, I respect that, and I've read some as well, but I love a good "less" story too because I can get lost in the characters, follow their lives, see their heart's desires, and experience their fresh wonder and awe as things change, surface, and realizations take place. It's got all the anticipation with the payout being more for the heart.
I honestly haven't read a lot of books featuring Scotland, or those from it's isles, but I DID read the first book in this series, and while they stand alone perfectly well, it gave me a wee bit of backstory to put two and two together, and I'm definitely a reader that likes to find the answer still equals four! Isabella was a wonder, her brother Max equally so, her other brother Freddy...a pompous a**. Hey, the apple CAN fall far from the tree sometimes, and other times it simply can't see the forest it's ACTUALLY in. I was so glad to meet the first two, and see their genuine love for each other, as a family should be. The same can be said for Angus and his sister, Eilidh. They are thick as thieves, but so genuine and open not only with each other, but those they meet. It's not a performance you'll get when encountering them, but the real deal. I was sorry to see how they were treated by many for a heritage that wasn't anything worse than the people doing the talking, but so happy to see them fall into the right sort of acquaintances, and by book's end, make the right moves for all involved.
A wonderful story with characters not easy to forget, though some you'd rather because honestly...ugh...but I digress, the GOOD bits are what stick most with you, and I say to heck with the ton and their jabber jaws! Following your heart never goes out of fashion, and is always the better option when it comes to love.
