I don't know about you, but life can get pretty mucked up sometimes...and there's nothing better to turn a bad day around than a great read.  Am I right?  Of course I am...and this book definitely does its "job" well.

From start to finish, I really loved this one! I mean, I know I say that pretty much about EVERY Heartbreaker Bay book that I've read, but can I help it if they are amazing?  No, I can't, so I do what I can and shout it from the virtual rooftops.  THIS BOOK ROCKED!  Kylie was amazing...strong, independent, but with a past that she'd rather forget and memories she'd die to hold on too.  It's a tough break what happened, truly awful, but sometimes the truth we tell ourselves isn't really so.  Sometimes we need things shaken up, broken apart, made a mess of, to really see what's there...and it definitely doesn't hurt to have a very less-than-unfortunate looking guy by your side for the ride. Which brings us to Joe...

Joe was so much more than just a hot bod alpha...there is actually substance beneath the veneer of masculinity, sarcasm, and flirtatiousness (not that we're complaining about any of that either...*ahem*).  He too has lived a life that was harder than you might guess (MUCH harder), but despite the inner demons of unworthiness he faces, he truly is one of the good ones. The situation these two find themselves in forces their hand in more ways than one, but in the end, they find the missing pieces they didn't know they were looking for...and we get one heck of a story!

Don't believe me?

~~~ EXCERPT ~~~
Joe studied her. “I asked you once before, but now I’m going to ask you again. Is there something going
on between you two?”
She tossed up her hands. “Why do you both keep asking me that about each other?”
His eyes narrowed. “I thought nothing was going on.”
“And before today, I could’ve passed a lie detector test on that,” she said.
“What happened today?”
She paused. Not because she had anything to be ashamed of, but because she wasn’t quite sure what
had happened.
“Kylie.”
She sighed. “It’s nothing.”
“Try again,” Joe said and gave her the very male universal go on gesture.
She rolled her eyes. “Fine. He . . . finally made a move on me.”
Joe didn’t budge. Not a blink, not a muscle twitch, nothing, but she could’ve popped corn off the electric tension coming off him.
“Describe ‘made a move,’ ” he finally said.
She crossed her arms. “And again, how is this relevant to my case?”
He just gave her that careful stare again and she thought wow, those eyes of his should be registered as a lethal weapon, because she found herself opening her mouth and spilling her guts. “He kissed me.”
“He kissed you.”
“Yeah,” she said. “Do you know that you often repeat what I say?”
“What kind of a kiss?” he asked.
She was momentarily bewildered. “I don’t know. It was a kiss. A normal kiss. A nice kiss.” She cocked her head at him. “How many kinds of kisses are there?”
He just looked at her for a long moment before coming toward her. He backed her to the wall and pressed his big hands on either side of her head.
“There are many kinds of kisses,” he said.
Her breath had backed up in her throat, where her heart had lodged, pounding wildly. “S-s-such as?”
“Such as this one.” And then he leaned in and covered her mouth with his.
At the touch of Joe’s mouth, Kylie’s brain stopped being capable of rational thought. His tongue gave a knee-weakening stroke against hers and she let out a shockingly needy moan as she clutched at him, fisting her hands in the material of his shirt at his chest. Only when he’d thoroughly plundered and pillaged and left her boneless did he lift his head and
look into her eyes.
“Wow,” she whispered, fully aware she was still holding on to him like he was a lifeline, but the bones in her legs had liquefied. “I mean . . .” She shook her head. “Wow.”
He nodded. “Yeah. So to be clear, that wasn’t ‘a normal kiss’ or even ‘a nice kiss.’ It was a ‘wow’ kiss. Any questions?”
“Just one,” she said softly. “Can I have another?”
Joe didn’t have to be asked twice. His mouth immediately descended again, his fingers sliding into her hair to change the angle of the kiss to suit him. It was a controlled, alpha thing to do, but she had only one thought—nothing about the usually carefully, purposely leashed Joe was in control at the moment.
And she liked it.
She had no idea how long they went at it because she was in absolute heaven. Who knew that the man could use his preferred silent mode to communicate in a way that she finally approved of?
Only when she was completely breathless and about to strip him down to his birthday suit did she manage to pull back.
“Any more questions?” he asked, also a little bit breathless, which was more than slightly gratifying. Dumbly, she shook her head. His eyes softened and he gently he stroked his thumb over her bottom lip. “And FYI? Gib’s an idiot.”
STORYBOOK SUNDAY: Irate Pirates and Singing Dragons...
HI guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
We're celebrating another day of bookish fun with Storybook Sunday! For those not up to speed on the post, I read a lot of great storybooks and thought, why not give them their own day in the sun. Hence, Storybook Sunday! Feel free to join the fun and create a post on your own site with the same name. I'd love to see any linked up in the comments! Anywho...back to the matter at hand.
Today, we're exploring the Fantasy side of Storybooks with one title that reminds us to follow our passions not simply our past, and another that poetically employs those fiery winged beasts of our imagination.  Curious?  Good!  My job is done...and now to leave you with the duo gracing our virtual page today...
The Irate Pirate
Petie is a pirate in training, who wants to be anything but. His whole family had always been pirates...hook, peg-leg, and anchor...but Petie wants something more, something different, something of his own, and until that balance between doing what's desired and what he desires is achieved, I think you get where the title of the story comes from.
The message is clear...reach for YOUR dreams, not the dreams of others. Just because all those before you toted the jolly roger, doesn't mean YOU have to if that's not what's in your heart! The support Petie received from his family was heartwarming, the direction given from the Pirate-in-Principal illuminating, and the final course set by our leading young man, inspiring. A good story for youngsters to get their sea legs with in order to prepare for the sometimes rough seas ahead.
A wonderful little collection of clever rhyming prose that will delight the kiddos, while still enchanting adults with its witty wordy wonders. Hard pressed to pick a favorite, but I have to say, the imagery combined with the poem itself of IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN DRAGONS, definitely had me smiling.  It's a great way to introduce wee ones to the poetry genre, while allowing older readers to revel in their love of the fantastical in a whole new way.
Today, we're joining TLC Book Tours for a celebration already in progress starring a work of Women's Fiction that's ready to take you around the world and back again.  Filled with adventure, new places, and new someone's, it's got a lot going for it...and let's not forget the quirky (yet explainable!) title!  So, if you've been trying to ignore your own case of cabin fever, or simply tucked in bed battling an actual fever (so much flu and cold this season!), get ready for a travel expedition you can take right from your living room.  Here comes today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...
About the book...
Objectively, Sophie is a success: she’s got a coveted job at a top consulting firm, a Manhattan apartment, and a passport full of stamps. It isn’t quite what she dreamed of when she was a teenager dog-earing pages in exotic travel guides, but it’s secure. Then her best friend bails just hours after they arrive in Hong Kong for a girls’ trip, and Sophie meets Carson, a free-spirited, globetrotting American artist.
In the midst of their whirlwind vacation romance, Carson invites Sophie to join him on his haphazard journey around the world. While the brief international jaunts she sneaks in between business trips don’t feel like enough, Sophie is far too practical to throw away her five-year plan on a whim. Yet Carson’s offer forces her to question whether the reliable life she’s chosen is really what she wants–and she soon discovers that his feelings for her run deeper than she realized.
I gotta say...it's not all sunshine and roses, but I loved it all the more for it.
Picture it...Hong Kong, a girls only trip with your best friend (sorta), a city of new things to try, buy, and explore.  Sounds EXCITING, right?  Well it did...until that bestie decided her on again off again guy back home is on again and ditched her for the states.  (OMG!)  I know...it's okay...I was upset enough for the both of us.  What sort of friend DOES that?  I mean, hello...there's a reason One Tree Hill (dating myself here, I know...but hey, the leading lady is named SOPHIE...ring any fan bells there?) had the whole "hoe's before bro's" thing that has been retagged a hundred times since (sisters before misters, bellas before fellas, hens before mens...geez, I DID NOT realize how many variations there actually were!).  You don't just ditch your gal pal for a fella that may or may not stick (I won't even spoil the "surprise" for you on what the case was here...)...ESPECIALLY in a foreign country!  Okay, done ranting, back to the review....
Image result for see my soul
While we get to explore the great big world with Sophie, it's not the sites that she visits that really hold a candle of memory...it's with WHOM the adventures take place.  That's right.  Our gal doesn't stay solo for long when she makes an unexpected acquaintance, but that's all he is...a fling...right?  Sure...keep telling yourself that...in the mean time, I will say that I like what this new connection does for Sophie.  It grants her permission (in her own mind) to be her WHOLE self.  I don't know about you, but we humans are pretty multifaceted in regards to personality.  It's rare that someone gets to see our entire self, and I'm talking more exposure than simply biblical.  Bodies can be seen, but really getting someone or having someone get you...THAT'S truly scary territory...as Sophie finds out first hand...but once that connection is made and recognized, it's what follows that truly speaks volumes.
In the end, it was a story about traveling this great big world, and not simply uncovering the secrets of the past, but the secrets of our true selves.  It's about unlocking the passions of our hearts, following our dreams, and living in the moment...while still remembering tomorrow will come, it's just how we greet it that counts.  A great tale for those with a travelers soul, as well as fans of Women's Fiction in general.
