trilogy!
After confronting the evil Hamelyn Piper, Patch Brightwater, his dracogriff
friend Barver, and an army of Pipers have been transported to a mysterious
island where they find themselves trapped with monstrous beasts. Meanwhile,
their shapeshifting friend, Wren, has been captured by the nefarious villain
and is working hard to escape a pair of magic-dampening manacles.
Clad in his suit of impenetrable black armor, with traitorous dragons on his
side, the Piper of Hamelyn hunts for a mythical amulet to achieve true
immortality. But Erner Whitlock, an apprentice in the Piper’s Custodian Elite,
is on the verge of discovering yet another foe with even more sinister plans .
. . Can Patch and friends reunite in time to prevent destruction from raining
on the world?
S.A. Patrick’s Songs of Magic trilogy is a brilliant retelling of one of the
darkest legends of all time, "The Piper of Hamelyn." Combining
folklore with the very best of modern storytelling, the books will delight
young fantasy fans who are hungry for perilous quests, friendships forged on
the road, and an inventive magic system that thrills the imagination.
S. A.
Patrick was born in Belfast. When he was a child, he wanted to write video
games, become and author, and have magical powers. The first two came true. If
he ever does get magical powers, he hopes people like dragons and griffins
because there will suddenly be a lot of them around. He lives in England.

AWARENESS TOUR: Nemesis and the Vault of Lost Time by P.J. Davis, Illustrated by Thomas Peacock - GUEST POST + GIVEAWAY!
What Would You Do With a Vault of “Lost Time?”
If you could add life to anyone’s life, who would it be and why?
In my book Nemesis and the Vault of Lost Time, invisible time bandits steal precious moments of our lives by sucking it directly out of our lungs and then storing the precious commodity in a secret location in a deep, dark netherworld. Abaddon, the overlord of Nemesis, has a grand plan for this stored energy, this life force, and it’s not a good one! But if that vault could be cracked, siphoned off, and distributed, just who would be the best recipient of that prana, that life-giving energy, that extension of life itself?
Philanthropy is all about giving money, but isn’t time itself what people really want? What if there was a philanthropy that could take all this stolen time and redistribute it? The Ministry of Time. After all, they say “time IS money!” So in this scenario, instead of a Brinks truck flipping over and spilling cash all over the highway, there would be a vast reservoir of life energy that someone, anyone, could drink in and extend their existence. Imagine the mayhem that would ensue in that instance. Everyone would be clamoring “Pick me! Pick me!”
In essence it would come down to this… who deserves to live? Or at least to live longer? My first thought would be to go to a children’s hospital. There’s something that just seems contrary to nature itself when children are imperiled. Older people will often say something to the effect of “I’ve lived a full life,” as if they’ve had their shot, their time on stage, their just desserts. But kids? Nah! I would definitely open the spigot on that one, give them all the more opportunity to live, laugh and eventually love.
The second group would be where it gets trickier. Who would benefit us all the most if they were given more time? The scientists and geniuses of the earth? The Elon Musks? Or the most deserving and giving amongst us, a mother Teresa of our time? Assuming this vault of time was not limitless, there would need to be some criteria, some priorities, to determine who gets their extra shot of time itself.
I think I would start with the “NO’s” first – that’s easy.
No politicians
No telemarketers
No lawyers or used car salesmen (unless they wrote a sincere letter of apology)
No mean teachers (see first chapter in my book…)
So after emptying all the children’s hospitals, I think I would put the next group of deserving people to a vote. (But then again, everyone would try to game the system, and celebrities and influencers would win.) Scratch that idea.
Hmmm…
I thought about having a writing contest and reading through all the letters to decide, but that would just make me spend all day crying. I’m a bit of a softie that way, especially if it’s kids doing the asking.
Maybe the best thing to do is to simply ask the question “If given more time, more life, what would you do with it?” In other words, from everything you’ve learned and experienced in life, what is your takeaway? What changes would you make? What would you do more of, or do differently? I think it’s a fair question, and the type we should ask on a regular basis, regardless of whether there is a time lottery or not.
In my case, I would hope to be more like Max, the main character in my book. I would want to be more present, more available, more “in the moment.” The irony of time is that in many ways it’s an illusion. We want more “time” but all we really have is now, and that now is pretty important stuff. It’s the thing that time happens in, and it’s all we got.
So until we can tap that time vault, I think we can all benefit from working with what we got, giving those around us our time and attention. Meanwhile, let’s hope all those creatures in Nemesis don’t get a hold of that time! Because if they do, our time may be up!
