In My Shopping Bag (68)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren.
Through her guidelines, your post does not actually have to be named the same and thus my post shall be..."In My Shopping Bag".  (just fits with the "foodie" theme a bit better in my humble opinion)
Let's take a peek inside my shopping bag this week....

Review

Possessions:  The Screaming Season by Nancy Holder
(courtesy of Erin, assistant to author Nancy Holder)
Is there any doubt that I was excited when she contacted me about this new release?  Let me squelch any there might have been then.  This being the third installment in the Possessions series, I was thrilled as I enjoyed the previous two (just search my reviews on the site for a glimpse) and can't wait to find out just what will happen to our little possessed "friends".  Scheduled release date for this little beauty is March 17th so mark your calendars!  Review coming next month...and there may even be a chance to win a copy too...stay tuned...

The Boy Who Cried Ninja by Alex Latimer
(courtesy of Peachtree Publishers)
Does this not look like the cutest and possibly funniest little story?  I can't help but smile at the title and look...a ninja...with cake!  Oooh...cake....hey you, ninja!  Hands off the cake!  Calendar at the ready?  Release date is set for April 2011.

Ghellow Road by T.H. Waters
(courtesy of the author herself)
You have to pause at a title like this at the very least to wonder what you are seeing.  Trust me though, a look inside the book and you'll be captured by the story....at least I was by the excerpt available at the author's website.  Look for the review of this title in the coming weeks, but in the mean time, click the link above to get a sample all your own.  Be prepared for an emotional trip....

Spinning Out by David Stahler
(ARC's courtesy of Lara at Chronicle Books and LibraryThing's Early Reviewers)
Okay, so I finally figured out how I ended up with TWO copies of this book.  I put in for one on the one site, and was offered one from the other.  Ironically enough BOTH showed up the same day.  Oh well..what ever will I do with an extra copy of a book?  *ponders*  This title is scheduled for release May 2011...is your calendar marked?

How I Stole Johnny Depp's Alien Girlfriend by Gary Ghislain
(ARC courtesy of Lara at Chronicle Books)
Admittedly, I did not request this one, so it was a complete surprise when it showed on on my doorstep.  Will I read it?  More than likely, yes.  Why?  Because I'm a sucker for books with interesting titles, it's here, and I've never really gone wrong with a Chronicle Books selection so far.  All systems go.  Scheduled release date is set for June 2011.
You may have also noticed the secondary "book" in the background of this picture and the last.  It's sort of a teaser booklet for the upcoming book Safari as a Way of Life by Dan Eldon.  There's a really interesting back story to this book's creation but I'll let you explore that on your own.  Suffice it to say that it shall be read as well...and well, who knows what will happen to those extra copies... ~whistles~

Father of Lies by Ann Turner
(courtesy of HarperCollins)
I confess, I haven't actually heard of this one prior to it arriving on my doorstep but you know sometimes the best reads are discovered out of the blue.  From what I gather, it deals with the Salem witch trials from a young girls perspective....someone who could end up on the inside of it all if she's not careful.   Looking forward to this unexpected read.  If you're curious about it as well, looks like it hit shelves earlier this month so look for it on a bookstore shelf near you!

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
(via contest from Penelope at The Reading Fever)
Okay...so I may be one of the last to get around to reading this series, but what can I say?  I have to wait until a book speaks to me and after all that I've heard about this series, it finally does.  *adds to Mount TBR*  Thanks for the great prize Penelope!  If you haven't checked out her site yet...I suggest you do.  Especially take note of the "Reading Fever Symptoms" list at the top.  I know I have the fever...how bout you?

That's it for this week.
So what do you think?  What did YOU get?
Do tell!

Until next time....happy reading!

I love The Iron King! The Iron Fey is a favorite series of mine. The Johnny Depp book sounds like it would be hilarious! I've been interested in Father of Lies, too. Love anything to do with Salem witch trials. My godmother has a relative who was accused of being a witch during that time and burned at the stake.

Julie: *adds more positive feedback on series to the list* Wow..really? Such a personal connection to it all..can definitely see the appeal. Have you read the lyrically written WICKED GIRLS?
