About the book...
Join Itty Bitty Betty in this thrilling story as she tries to sneak a tasty treat without Mommy knowing!
Itty Bitty Betty was small as can be,
About as tall as her mom’s knee.
After a fun day out by the sea,
Itty Bitty wanted cookies for tea!

With wonderful full-color illustrations throughout, Itty Bitty Betty certainly makes a scrumptious impression! Her adventure began with a day out of doors, and led to her precariously stretching and reaching to get the coveted cookies she is craving after all that sunshine! Can she reach the tempting treat? Or will an unfortunate spill have her reconsidering the need to do this particular thing all by her self?
I love how independent Betty is. She definitely reflects the “though she be but little, she is fierce” attitude that we try to instill in our little ones today, but with genuine heart. She simply wants the cookies she can see, and doesn't want to bother her mom to get them. Her little brown kitty (who is adorable, by the way!) tries to help in her own way, but alas, she's not truly any taller than our wee star. I think the story speaks to the desire that kiddos have to do things by themselves, while gently reminding them why adults feel the need to “interfere” in the first place. It allows them the chance to see what they can do, but also the potential consequences that could follow, which are certainly not the easier more loving option of simply asking one's mom for assistance.
In the end, I think little ones will enjoy Betty's tries, and root for her to overcome the challenges, yet be more than happy when dear old mom sweeps in to save the day. It teaches early lessons on perseverance, but also that there is just as much might in asking for help when help is needed.
