About the book...
Ayesha Shetty lost her brother seven years ago, the same time she lost everything else important to her: her dreams, her fierce independence, and the man she loved. Not wanting to see her mother hurt anymore, she put her wild self away and became the dutiful daughter her mother needed and took on her brother’s role in the family business.

Now her best friend’s big, fat Indian wedding is a chance to get away from her endless duties at the restaurant and maybe even have some fun (if she remembers how). But a setup arranged by her mother, with a doctor no less, is the last thing she needs. The fact that he checks all her mother’s boxes just makes everything better…and worse.

Then Emmitt Hughes shows up. Her brother’s best friend. The love she once chose over family duties and her responsibilities. The one she asked to leave, and who did. The one who knows the real Ayesha. Torn between a love from the past that could cost her the only person she has left and her sense of obligation to her mother, will Ayesha find the strength to stop thinking about what everyone else wants and finally put herself first? Or is the old Ayesha truly gone for good?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A tragedy in their shared past destroyed whatever heartfelt connection existed between Ayesha and Emmitt...or did it?  They say time heals all wounds, and absence makes the heart grow fonder, but what about when you're dealing with two REALLY stubborn people, a family that means well despite the annoyance they can cause, and friends that just what you to be the happier you you use to be?  Tough times, and tough choices...but does it really HAVE to be so tough?  Perhaps with a little forgiveness for themselves for something that was neither of their faults they could find their own happily-ever-after?  Then again, leaving things up to fate and chance was never really any interfering family's style...
Like I said, a short and semi-sweet read that gives us characters to love, and laugh at, a history to build upon, and a future to look towards, all in the span of time it takes to throw a wedding.  I love the secret involvement of other people in their overall scheme...something I wish I could tell you more about, but can't so I don't spoil the story.  I enjoyed getting to know Ayesha and what made her tick.  Her heart was broken, but still made of gold...and the feelings she didn't want to crop up from yesteryear prove that in a hurry.  I was skeptical of Emmitt at first because he came off as rather self assured, but in a I-know-you-better-than-you way.  It's not that it wasn't true, but a little more humility especially with what he had in mind might have taken him even further, faster.
All in all, it was certainly a wedding to remember with more than one happily-ever-after to speak of, and several to thank for it too!  If you like a quickie read that screams second chance romance with a healthy dash of friends and family thrown in for good measure, this is definitely a story you should check out post haste.
