About the book...
Even wedding planners struggle to get it right…
Jason is the best wedding planner around, known as the Fairy Godfather to the couples whose special days he plans. But coming up against workplace prejudice is taking a toll on his love for his job.
His mother-in-law, Mel, has just discovered her husband has been cheating on her with a younger woman. Nearing fifty, jobless and struggling, she needs to work out who she is aside from a mum and a wife, and get her life back on track.
Meanwhile, up-tight wedding planner Harriet is struggling to find her own true love – if such a thing exists. Between liars, married men, and disaster dates, she thinks she may never find the one. And her outdated attitude toward LGBT marriages make her even more bitter.
When Jason starts Extra Weddings – helping people marry whoever they like, in whatever way they want – he, Mel and Harriet find themselves coming together to help couples make memories to last a lifetime. But can they bridge their gaps, and be a unit when others need them most?
Fans of Casey McQuiston, Lindsey Kelk and Justin Myers are invited to the most heart-warming and extravagant wedding event of 2022.

I enjoyed this book even more than I thought I would! Why? Well, quite honestly, it was the number of characters that feature that gave me a little hesitation. From my own reading experience, it can definitely be a case of took many chefs in the kitchen, meaning the story gets lost under all the characters...but that is SO not the case here!
I loved Jason and his fantastically fun weddings. He strove for what was right...and that meant meeting the demands of his clients. Why, what did you think it meant? No, he wasn't leading a one man crusade against the close-minded people of the world...he was just being him. Problem was, some took great offence to that, including Harriet. Funny thing about this character, you initially love to hate her, but by book's end she has some rather eye-opening experiences, and such moments growth, you'll be glad Jason had the foresight not to write her off completely. Then there's Mel, Pete's mom (partner to Jason), and her midlife unwarranted crisis...thanks to a cheating spouse...and while she feels her world falling apart, she's about to learn just how wonderful a mother, great a friend, and lovely of wife she truly is, and eventually get what's coming to her tenfold (it the best and most beautiful ways possible!).
SO you see, there's three viewpoints at the very least, with individual stories that occasionally overlap, but that just makes them THAT much better. You get to see the ugly side of humanity, but also the great big beating heart full of love that exists to counterbalance it. There are meet-cute moments, weddings to die for, conversations to gasp at the absurdity of, and a whole lot of love to go around when all is said and done. Come for the weddings, but stay for the HEAs because you know everyone wants there own in their own time, in their own way.
