This story was charming!
Little Memo lives with his grandmother, some distance from others, but they have a cozy life. She's takes care of him, and he helps her in all the little things. Problem is the distance from others means he doesn't really have a lot of friends, and as there's a generous age gap between caretaker and protégé, their fun times, active times doing kids love doing is often cut short. That feeling of being separate, being on your own, can work for some for a while, but humans tend to seek out others like themselves to work, play, and grow, and Memo felt alone. At least until he stumbled upon a little kitty in need...
Grant it, the kitty is the UNEXPECTED GIFT in a lot of ways because he gives Memo someone to play with, to take care of, and spend time with... but he also GIVES an unexpected gift later on after all the kindness, care, and love he was shown. Memo learns that taking care of someone, loving someone, means more than simply what they can provide you with, but he also learns just how wonderful family can be... especially when they can see what they're doing!
A great story filled with imagination and heart, Memo deserves a place in your family and on your bookshelf!
