Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for PART FOUR of the Coming Home to Merriment Bay series from author Emily Harvale.  This time around we're setting our sights on the stars...for more reasons than one!  Ready or not, we're heading back to the bay in three...two...one...

Coming Home to Merriment Bay
PART FOUR:  Starry Skies
by
Emily Harvale

About the book...
Part Four of this heartwarming four-part serial about finding the strength to put the past behind you and to reach out for a future filled with happiness and love.

Cat is reeling from the unexpected events of Christmas and as Merriment Bay prepares to toast in the New Year, she’s facing choices she never thought she’d have to make. Her head and her heart are pulling her in very different directions.

Bailey is sitting by Viola’s bedside, regaling everyone with tales from the past but is there any chance he’ll get to see a smile on the lips of the woman he still loves?

Having realised she has made mistakes, will Mary finally tell Cat what she really wants to know?

And what will the New Year bring for Kyra? Will she fulfil the plans she made before she came to Merriment Bay?

When distressing events end more than one person’s dream, can Cat find the strength to fight for the Love she deserves? Sometimes it takes a crisis to make someone realise what they truly want. And Cat has decided what – and who – that really is. But is she too late?

Now this is the LAST INSTALLMENT of this particular work and I had my hopes set on HIGH.  I mean, there were all those unanswered questions about who would end up with whom, the secrets that were just starting to come to light and the potential fallout from them, and all other matters of the heart to be decided for young, old, and somewhere in-between.  Let me just go ahead and warn you now, we do lose some characters in one way or another this time around, so steel your heart, fair readers.  Some goodbyes are bitter sweet, while others are bid farewell with an open heart, but their absence is felt nonetheless.

I, for one, thought that this tied things up nicely enough.  We get our happy ending in several ways, including new love discovered, old flames rekindled, and long awaited reunions.  The secrets unleashed leave their mark, but not enough so as to be forever scarring.  Grudges are held, but not the the depth that true love lies buried.  Familial bonds are strengthened despite the less than fortunate circumstances they find themselves in, while a reaffirmation of following one's dreams and one's heart is reestablished, which goes a long way in reminding us that while there may always be tomorrow, it's best to not let the "present" of today pass us by.

All in all, a great pick for your reading list with a delivery style that favors our busy lives.  This novel-in-series approach makes it more "digestible" for those that find it SUPER hard to carve out some reading time in their day, while still delivering a story full of heart, drama, and charm.

RRR presents... COMING HOME TO MERRIMENT BAY: PART 3: CHRISTMAS by Emily Harvale

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for PART THREE of the Coming Home to Merriment Bay series from author Emily Harvale.  This time around it's the aptly named Christmas chapter that we're reading and let's just say that the holidays are not so jolly for this group with so many lies floating around, feelings left unshared, and yet more missteps in the love department.  Ready or not, we're heading back to the bay in three...two...one...

Coming Home to Merriment Bay
PART THREE:  Christmas
by
Emily Harvale

About the book...
Part Three of this heartwarming four-part serial about finding the strength to put the past behind you and to reach out for a future filled with happiness and love.

Cat and Kyra have finally traced the man in the photo they found in Viola’s trunk – thanks to Amias. But Bailey Mitchell lives thousands of miles away and is almost ninety-eight, so meeting him in person is never going to happen. Which is just as well. Exchanging Christmas cards and chatting on social media leads to revelations Cat had not expected.

At least Christmas is looking promising. It may be freezing outside but things have definitely thawed between Cat and her mum, Mary. They’re actually getting on, especially now that Mary is dating Jeremy Stone, the builder working on Viola’s house.

Cat’s also hopeful that Viola’s situation may improve. And when a surprise visitor brings more than just well wishes, Cat’s Christmas takes a delightful turn.

With the festivities in full swing, and snow falling on Merriment Bay, the future’s looking bright. Christmas is a time for miracles and Cat believes she may get one of her own this year if she’s prepared to put the past behind her and open her heart to Love once more.

I simply love how the author puts herself in the reader's shoes and reads our minds as to exactly what we're contemplating when we've reached the story's end.  I mean the questions she poses are RIGHT ON POINT!  I'm simply dying to know whether Cat and Amias will end up together or simply remain two ships passing ever so close in the night...but I'm also curious about the Ben situation as it plays quite heavily into everything else.  I love the progress made between mother and daughter...well, in both sets of mothers and daughters actually.  You can see it brings more peace to their hearts and contentment to their time shared.  I'm very interested to know if Viola will ever have her say in everything that's transpiring and what she'd think about this Jeremy fellow that has apparently hitched his wagon to Mary.

So, as part three's go, I'd say it's a winner...but really, give me part four already because, yeah, I need to know how this is all going to turn out!

RRR presents... COMING HOME TO MERRIMENT BAY: PART 2: SPARKS FLY by Emily Harvale

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining ranks with Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their four part tour featuring book one of the Coming Home to Merriment Bay series from author Emily Harvale.  Honestly guys, it's as sweet as the cover implies, but there's plenty of hardship, hard feelings, and missteps in love to go around too.  Ready or not, let's set out sights on today's ebook of choice...

Coming Home to Merriment Bay
PART TWO:  SPARKS FLY
Merriment Bay series
by
Emily Harvale

About the book...

Part Two of this heartwarming four-part serial about finding the strength to put the past behind you and to reach out for a future filled with happiness and love.
Cat Devon knew she couldn’t avoid Amias Wells for long. She also knew sparks would fly the moment they came face to face. They never did get on and nothing has changed in eighteen years – except that Amias is even more annoying. So why does Cat still catch her breath whenever he looks her way?

The fact he flies a vintage Spitfire for the Merriment Bay WWII Museum doesn’t interest Cat, but his knowledge of the former RAF pilots stationed there certainly does. She wants to find out all she can about the man in the photo in Viola’s trunk. And what with hospital visits, dealing with her mum, and sorting out problems with Viola’s house, Cat could use more than just Kyra’s help.

But Kyra makes it clear she thinks Cat and Amias should spend more time together. Which is ridiculous. Apart from the fact they don’t get on, Amias wasn’t interested in Cat before the accident that left the ugly scars on her face and body, so he definitely won’t be attracted to her now. Besides, Cat’s not looking for romance. She’s happy with her life just the way it is.

Ooohhhh!
Sounds like the groundwork has been laid for some sparks to REALLY start to fly!  I mean, it's beyond obvious to pretty much everyone that Cat's feelings are still there hiding barely below the surface, and it seems as if Amias may not have been so put off my her attention from their youth as she thought.  From the sound of things, the words of others got in the way of what might have been as well as a few well placed lies.  HOWEVER...all the secrets that are starting to come to the surface...will they we strong enough to survive whatever life may be about to throw at them AND embark on something long overdue?

I can honestly say that I like how this novel-in-series is shaping up and though different in delivery style, it works for today's moving and shaking lifestyle.  The characters are definitely leaving their marks, and one can't help but chuckle at the way Cat's daughter played her mom's not-so-hidden affections like a well tuned fiddle!  The look on Cat's face when "out of nowhere" Amias appears...priceless.

Now then, I've shared my latest update on this series with all of you, and am certainly recommending you continue to read along (or catch up, if you have yet to start!) as I take on part three for my next part in the tour.  :)

RRR presents... COMING HOME TO MERRIMENT BAY: PART 1: A REUNION by Emily Harvale

PART ONE:  A REUNION
Merriment Bay series
by
Emily Harvale

About the book...
After eighteen years apart, reclusive Cat Devon still recognises her mum’s handwriting. Plucking up the courage to open the letter, its contents send Cat racing to Merriment Bay, the seaside village where she grew up.

On arrival, Cat and her teenage daughter, Kyra are shocked to find the situation is worse than expected. But despite everything, Cat considers herself to be an optimist at heart and Kyra takes after her. Looking on the bright side may not improve the situation, but it definitely can’t make it worse.

When clearing out the house that, even now, Cat fondly thinks of as home, she stumbles upon more than just memories in the battered leather trunk in Granny Viola’s bedroom. She discovers a faded photo of an RAF pilot, a pile of unopened letters, and a mystery waiting to be solved. Who is the man in the – clearly treasured – photo? Cat didn’t know her grandad. Could this be him? A man even her mum never met.

Cat and Kyra are intent on finding out. But that’s not all Cat’s determined to do. It’s time she came to terms with the issues in her past, and made peace with her mum and her gran. All the while avoiding bumping into the one man she never quite got over … and keeping a few secrets of her own.

Honestly, this book was DELIGHTFUL and just the burst of sunshine I needed in my hectic reading world.  I mean, grant it, it's not all actual sunshine and roses because LIFE HAPPENS, but it's what we, or in this case they, do with it that makes it counts.  We've glimpses into the past of things that were and should have been.  Personal revelations are made that even the characters didn't know were coming with repercussions being totally unknown...for now.  Family dynamics to shy from and strive for are explored regarding all generations...and if all that wasn't enough, it's only part one!  There's still more to come!

I love how we're directly introduced to the key characters and yet there is a still build up of history to get the story on the right track.  I like the way the author poses the very questions at part one's end that are circling around in our own minds.  I adore the fact that I'm not going to have to wait to get started on the second installment because honestly...TORTURE!  We have to know what Kyra is playing at, what dear old Granny was holding so close to her heart, and just what is in store for our girl Cat!

So yes, I'm saying if you're a fan of Contemporary Fiction, Contemporary Romance, or Women's Fiction, this is a book you want to add to your reading list...and in the mean time while you're playing catch up, I'll start on the second installment!
