About the book...
Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list—dealing with Madi’s temporary dog sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.

Ethan thought he was used to chaos, until he met Madi—how can one tiny dog cause such mayhem? To Ethan, the solution is simple—he will pay Harriet to share his New York apartment and provide twenty-four-hour care. But there’s nothing simple about how Harriet makes him feel.

Ethan’s kisses make Harriet shine brighter than the stars over moonlit Manhattan. But when his dog-sitting duties are over and Harriet returns to her own home, will she dare to take the biggest challenge of all—letting Ethan know he has her heart for life, not just for Christmas?

First things first, a little bit of COVER LOVE!
I gotta say, this series has an AWESOME set of covers from start to well, where we're at in the series because I definitely hope this isn't the last installment.  I just couldn't bare it!  Anywho, again...cover love?  Definite YES!  Now, on to the story...or rather my thoughts and comments about/to our leading lady.

Oh Harriett...you are ONE LUCKY LADY!
How so?  Well, let's see...let me illuminate the ways...

* First of all, YOU ARE AMAZING...and watching you come to know that fact and in how many WONDERFUL ways it applies to you was outstanding.  Seriously, I wanted to clap wildly, jump for joy, give you a hug, and celebrate with a cup of hot cocoa (borrowing Dr. Hot's recipe, of course!) and a puppy by our side.  Speaking of which...

* Second reason...you ADORE ANIMALS, which automatically makes us besties.  The care you show for mankind's best friend, the level of concern, the connections you forge, let's us know from the start, YOU are most definitely one of the good ones.

* Third...you're not afraid to try new things.  Okay, so maybe you are...and some of them with obviously good reasons...but you don't let that fear stop you.  From bad first dates to conversing with strangers to taking a chance on dog sitting (overnight...at Dr. Hot's house...PURELY for the dog's comfort and safety...NO LIE!), you already had your own version of a "bad girl card" without you ever realizing it.

* Fourthly...your caring ways don't merely extend to fur babies or their owners but those that harbor a kind soul themselves, hidden or not.  You show them through gestures...taking care of them (sick Doc, anyone?), cooking for them, etcetera...let alone your kindness.

Image result for book love

Obviously I could keep going, but short of writing a biography myself, I'll let readers discover more about you on their own.  Suffice it to say that I actually saw a lot of myself in you...no, I'm not glorifying myself either, I mean in some of your kindness but also your challenges.  No one's lot is as easy in life as it may seem from the outside looking in...some just hide the hurt better than others.  What better way to help the healing along than with your very own doctor?  *wink wink*

Before you go imaging all sorts of "healing", let me warn you...Ethan has his own issues too.  Does it make him any less of a "Dr. Hot"?  Visually, no...but remember, this is Harriett; looks are great, but HEART is required.  (LOVE YOU FOR THAT!  SERIOUSLY!)  Guess that proves Ethan wrong from the start then about his lack of heart since knowing out leading lady, she'd never bother with him at all if he actually lacked one.

In the end, it was a WONDERFULL addition to a growing series that I love and adore.  The characters are memorable, the stories heart filled, and the romance is steamy but not over the top.  Each book builds off the others but not so much so that if it's your first venture into the series, you'll be lost...so stand alone status is YES but then again with a set like this, WHY STOP AT ONE?  Oh, and that image above?  It was me taking notes for this review when inspiration struck.  I thought it was rather ironic that the notepad I happened to grab said, well...you see it there.  ^-^

About the book...
The perfect summer escape?

Professional dog-walker Felicity Knight loves everything about New York…until her ex-husband starts working at her local vet clinic. She hasn’t seen Seth Carlyle in ten years, but one glimpse of him—too gorgeous, and still too good for her—and Fliss’s heart hurts like their whirlwind marriage ended yesterday. So when her grandmother in the Hamptons needs help for the summer, it seems the ideal way to escape her past.

Their relationship might have lasted only a few scorching months, but vet Seth knows Fliss—if she’s run away to the Hamptons, it’s because she still feels their connection and it terrifies her. He let her go once before, when he didn’t know any better, but not this summer! With the help of his adorable dog, Lulu, and a sprinkling of beachside magic, Seth is determined to make Fliss see that he’s never stopped loving her…

This is the story of Fliss and Seth...what was, has been, and might be.  Once upon a time, they fell madly in love and though their teenage hearts beat true, their pasts colored their futures and what might have been happily-ever-after turned into a nightmare neither could cope with.  It's true what they say, communication is one of the keys to a successful relationship and while physically they spoke volumes, mentally they weren't on the same page.  Flash forward ten long lonely years and let's just say that the potential for awkwardness is there in spades.  How does one handle THAT meeting?  In Fliss' case, she doesn't...avoidance is her tactic and she's sticking to it...at least, she's gonna try to, but it seems as much as she curses the fates, they have a new ending in mind for her story and while HEAs are favored, sometimes they need a little attitude to make it fit just right.

At first, I wasn't as involved in this story.  I know, it shocked the hey out of me too....however, once the ball got rolling, the deception started, and I realized that not only was Seth not as bad as I had him pegged from his cameo in 'New York, Actually', but he was pretty darn smart too, I was reading with new eyes.  Fliss is a unique character in that she takes no prisoners in pretty much anything she does and her protective streak runs straight to her marrow.  True, it started in childhood as a way to combat her father (don't even get me started on that man!), but in adulthood, it's her way of showing how much she cares. The fact that she couldn't apply that same fierceness to her own heart hurt MY heart...but I had a feeling she'd find her way.  Seth is truly one of the good guys.  No, here's not perfect...as witnessed by that scene in his new home where the words "goodbye" were uttered (bonehead!)...but he's come to terms with what he wants in life and won't stop until she realizes that it's her.  Seeing how in tune they were with each other despite the years that have passed warmed my heart, as did his patient pursuit of her as he sidestepped her defenses without her guard ever realizing.

Image result for life story

All in all, it was a wonderful trip to the Hamptons with characters you won't easily forget.  The story was filled with personal discovery, and understanding of both the mind and the heart.  When the final page is turned, we are left with the knowledge that while showing our true selves can be scary, it's the only way to build those bonds that last, and discover the love that was meant to be.  Recommended for adult Contemporary Romance fans for a bit of steaminess and spark.

Whether you've been there or merely dreamed of it, it's a well known fact that New York is fast paced, taking the world by storm every day, hour, and minute...so I'm celebrating this title by a few of its moments that lingered, stuck, or struck me for whatever reason (of which I will divulge).  Sound good?  Let's get to it!

In a New York minute...

1. The opening tease aka Bedroom Eyes
If you're a fan of her work (and you've read the 'Dear Reader' letter from the author in the front of the book), you know right where this scene is going...if you don't or haven't, you're in for a sultry surprise.  (*giggle*)  I mean, come on!  With sentences like... "The body on the bed didn't stir, but that wasn't surprising given the amount of exercise they'd both had the day before." ...or..."She allowed her gaze to linger on the perfect lines of his athletic body, before returning her attention to her email."  ...one can't help but be "in the mood".  (Nice job, Ms. Morgan!)

2. Valentine is sick aka Knight in Suit not Armor
My heart was in my mouth, my stomach churning, and the tears ready to roll when this moment came along.  All I could think was NO!  NOT VALENTINE!  NO NO NO!  Total freak out moment...good thing there were calmer heads lending a hand, not that Molly couldn't handle it, but it never hurts to have a shoulder to lean on...especially when they are part of an even better package!  Let's just say that cracks in mister "I'm-not-a-dog-person"s suit armor begin to appear at this point, but as a dog lover, I totally get it, respect it, and swoon over it.  *sigh*

3. That kiss aka THAT KISS!
I'll set the scene.  Molly and Daniel bantering/getting to know each other in the park.  The sky gently parts, allowing a few drops of rain to pitter patter to the ground...until Mother Nature decides to perk this gathering up a bit and turn into a total deluge that they need shelter from.  Hark!  Pray tell is that a sturdy willow tree over yonder under which shelter can perhaps be found?  It is!  It is indeed...although it can only shelter from the storm OUTSIDE...the one brewing INSIDE of these two won't be so easy to escape.  *sigh*  Such a good scene!

4. The office aka Surprising "Daddy"
When Molly finds out about Daniel borrowing Brutus (aka Ruffles) just as a way to meet her, the fireworks start exploding.  This memory (Molly showing up at this office with Brutus in tow) was a total payback moment that sorta kinda got turned on its head.  Molly still got to stick it to him in the end because the questions (a girlfriend?  him?) and raised eyebrows (think that high pitched voice we use when we talk to our pets) followed him not her, but Daniel did manage to score a few points of his own with that kiss (whew!).

5.  The meltdown aka Gather the Wagons
We learn early on that Molly is hiding from something, but just how bad it was or exactly what happened remains a mystery...until it doesn't and all her carefully crafted walls start crumbling down.  True, there was an equally scalding reveal moment that just barely preceded THE BIG ONE, but when the cards were down, it wasn't the past that hit me; it was the actions and reactions of her friends (aka chosen family) that really struck my heart.  It just goes to show you that even in a place like the Big Apple, personal connections can be found.

Image result for man and woman silhouette

6.  The moment aka It All Comes Down to This
This one actually encompasses THREE moments to be precise, but the one I'll mention is the grand finale.  The forlorn man with a broken heart...but not simply for the obvious reasons.  The equally broken woman desperately trying to find the truth in her heart.  The lost loved one twisted up in the mix.  The lone hero that comes through in the end.  My heart was once again on standby as to whether the next beat should take place or not...but does that mean all live happily ever after?  One would hope...but that's an ending you're meant to discover on your own.  ^-^

Image result for book love

This is just a handful of the moments that are ready and waiting for you to discover, explore, and share like the book-crazy-fan-girl-or-boy you are upon finishing this wonderful addition to the From Manhattan with Love series.  Author Sarah Morgan does a wonderful job of bringing new characters into the fold without losing touch with those that came before, showcasing the beauty of the city that never sleeps that can be overlooked, and making you fall in love all over again.  Can't wait for the next in the series...which is in my reading stack as we speak and happens to release to the world at large AUGUST 29th, 2017, Holiday in the Hamptons.  You're welcome...now go out there and don't let another moment of summer reading pass you by!
