BOOK BLAST (& MORE!): It's In His Arms by Shelly Alexander

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

I'd not intended for today's posts to be the first ones of the year, but work has been extra busy and my reading schedule...well, let's just say it didn't take a holiday whereas the calendar did. No worries though because I was happily ensconced between the epages of today's featured title. HAPPILY. *wink*

Seriously though, my only hesitation at the start of this one was the length; a print book at 316 pages, I'm good...in eform, my eyes start to glaze over a bit. Thank heavens we had the likes of Lorenda, Mitchell (*sigh*), and friends (or supposed friends) to keep my eyes wide open as I devoured bytes and pixels at rapid speeds. Though it is the fourth book in a series, it reads perfectly well all on its own....HOWEVER, I think you'll agree with me, this is definitely a case of "bet-you-can't-read-just-one". So, if you're as ready as I am, let's get this party started! Today's ebook of choice is...

Lorenda is a stunning woman, a super mom, a wonderful friend, and a dazzling musician. She was widowed too young but left behind from the journey are two wonderful boys that fill her life with joy. So what if she doesn't really get out that much. Too bad she doesn't have time (or a desire, really) to date and find a connection after so much time has passed. Too bad indeed...or at least it was until Mitchell Lawson walked in on the scene, and then too bad turned into how convenient! Mitchell is 6'3" of solid, handsome, Ex-SEAL man and while formidable to the average Joe, three times as intimidating if you threaten the safety of those he loves...even if he isn't exactly ready to say the words. I would NOT want to be on the other end of that look he's perfected for evil doers; no thank you! OH, did I mention he's ALSO the twin brother of her husband who was KIA? No, I didn't, did I. Oops! (^-^) Things just got a little more complicated, but that's only the tip of the iceberg...

In one corner, we go from a loving widow caring for her two boys and seeking to enrich the lives of young ones every day through the gift of music to the object of more than one man's desires, both for better AND worse. We've a grown man who has paid his dues in spades and THEN SOME, seeking to mend bridges before it's too late. Neither was looking for the other and still fate conceded to throw them time and again into each other's paths, building on the already ginormous spark bouncing between them, so that when trouble came a knockin', we were there with bells on. Their heated glances, shiver inducing brushes, and breathy whispers, all add up to an attraction that simmers right off the page. I swear, you'll want to read this one on a cold winter night because these two will have you warm and toasty in no time flat (hence my ADULT READERS ONLY recommendation).

In the end, I was thoroughly impressed, so much so that I will have to add the print editions of the series to my wish list (correction, make that the print copies of book 3 and 4 because I TOTALLY just ordered the first two over on Amazon ^-^). The writing is smart and witty, and while story certainly doesn't lack in the steam department, it also has A LOT of heart. So take a chance on an alpha male that truly is one of the good guys, even if his outward appearance will have you thinking thoughts more along the lines of naughty.
