While the other post today featured ZOMBIES...this time around, we're dealing with the CRAFT-ier side of things with those pointy hat wearing, black cat attracting, broomstick riding WITCHES...but it's not exactly what you think. You see, it's not just about those that practice or are gifted with powers, but rather those that PROTECT these women from the darkness that abounds. I know, I know...what darkness...which screams for a bit of story history, but let's get through the introductions first. Today's blog tour guest and book of choice is....

Okay, so I've read this author's work before, so I was familiar with his writing style, and his penchant for writing about the paranormal...after all, it's not every author that gives us a twisted version of Jurassic Park where HIS version of the dinosaurs actually SHOW up. Here, he crafts a curious tale and unique tale once again, filled with witches, magic, and those that would protect them.

Once upon a time, there were Willas and Davinas...two rival witch factions with different intentions for their crafts at heart. The Willas were all about helping others, and causing no harm; the Davinas were more focused on self achievement, and power. Think Salem Witch Trials...the more earthy, foul looking the witch....Willa! The more put together, yet magically touched accuser/witness...Davina! Of course, we all know where THAT fiasco led...but place it in modern day, and it doesn't seem to fly as well. Good thing they changed with the times, or maybe not, because the bigger and badder the witch, the more powerful and ambitious they grew, and that made keeping them down THAT much harder. It's easier to hide in plain sight than you might think, but then again...they don't plan on hiding for that much longer...at least not all of them. Thing is...no matter the sect, there's always going to be those that just don't want to go with the flow...WITH GOOD REASON...and in this story, it just goes to show you that you can't keep a good witch down!

Overall, I enjoyed the story, the twists and turns, the unexpected allies and the uber-evil adversaries that would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. Though I wasn't a fan of Mr. Rockville...he was too cynical for my taste...I was feeling his awakening to the magic that surrounded him. At story's end, we were left with promising room for additional releases, allowing us that chance to get to know everyone (that's left!) and their diabolical plans (or not). My only real critique would be a wish for more time to go in-depth or more deeply detailed in a few areas.

Paranormal fan? Have your favorite creature or critter picked out against all the others? Know just who would win in a showdown between vampires and werewolves, zombies and semi-intelligent gelatinous material, or any other mischievous match-up? Yeah...think again. It's a whole other deck of cards when the IMAGINED becomes reality...and this book is sorta like Jurassic World versus the original...because it DEFINITELY has more teeth, even if they are figurative.

Wyatt and friends are recovering from their ULTIMATE TRIP, or what I like to call Monsterland Meltdown, and while it seems that enough time has passed for the world to start turning properly again, you might want to hold that train of thought at the station because the world as they knew it is pretty much over. Yep...we're talking the Wild West all over again with people going off the deep end, government takeovers, food shortages, misinformation in the tiny tidbits they DO get, and oh yeah...did I fail to mention something WEIRD is STILL going on? How and why are good questions to start with because Vincent DIED in the last book...didn't he? I mean we SAW the body decimated by werewolves, head torn from its original resting place and cast into the great beyond. That's pretty much the end of any one of us...right? Right... 🙄

Sequels can be fickle beasts, and although I was ready to relinquish it to the land of part two's, I held on...I mean, this author's work has surprised me before, so yeah...I had high hopes. Was it worth it? In my opinion, yes because where he could have copped out and rode the same paranormal influenced train into the ground, he didn't. He introduced NEW characters who were certainly worth their weight in proverbial gold. He brought to light OLD characters we thought long lost and made them shine again. He made new connections between those we thought we knew so well, but discovered we were only scratching the surface of. In short, he reopened the gates of Monsterland for a new audience as well as the original fans, giving us a new perspective on just what could happen if those characters we THINK we know so well actually came to life...

Recommended for Young Adult Paranormal fans from teens through adults. There's magic, mayhem, and science running a muck within these pages along with a few other SURPRISES you won't see coming...

About the author...

Michael Okon is an award-winning and best-selling author of multiple genres including paranormal, thriller, horror, action/adventure and self-help. He graduated from Long Island University with a degree in English, and then later received his MBA in business and finance. Coming from a family of writers, he has storytelling in his DNA.
