Letters from the Way by Barbara V. Anderson

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're taking a stroll through Europe courtesy of our featured author.  This particular title came to my attention the end of last year but alas, I've not had a moment to add it to the review schedule.  I know, bad reader/reviewer.  Well after the week I've had and the promise of a day off tomorrow (technically today as this is posting on Sunday), I was in the mood for a wander.  Grab your walking shoes and your passport, we're heading overseas for a unique look countries most dream of backpacking through in today's book of choice...

A Walking Journey

It's just what it sounds like, a collection of letters that the author wrote/sent while making her way along the path of St-Jacques.  It's a pilgrimage route that many soul searchers and walking enthusiasts embark on for reasons of their own, crossing from France to Spain with few resting stops along the way.  If you're expecting tourist hangouts, five star restaurants, and big chain hotels...think again.  Having a roof over your head while you partake of a family's evening meal and sleep in a bed of any sort is a blessing bigger than you can imagine here, but it's not about the amenities; it's about the journey of the heart.

The author found more than just beauty in the scenery surrounding her, though that was abundant and clear thanks to the photographs included within, she discovered kindred spirits in those traveling the same road as well as her own inner strength.  Despite language barriers, getting lost along the way, and almost having to call it quits before it even began, she forged a path that would remain in her memories as well as her heart.  It was wonderful to see just what clarity the trip brought her as her letters revealed her innermost wonderings and thoughts.  To see priorities realign themselves and her determination set in once again, just reminds us to value what we hold dear and take nothing for granted.  It was an experience to be there first hand I'm sure, but the recollections shared certainly make you feel like one of the gang.

About the book...
Momo loves to hide—and you’ll love looking for him! In this follow-up to the New York Times best seller Find Momo, the canine Instagram superstar (and his best buddy, Andrew Knapp) travel across the United States and Canada, visiting iconic landmarks and unique off-the-map marvels. Look for Momo hiding in Grand Central Station, in front of the White House, and in the French Quarter of New Orleans . . . as well as at diners, bookstores, museums, and other locales that only a seasoned road-tripper like Andrew could find. It’s part game, part photography book, and a whole lot of fun.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Part photography book, part search-and-find, it's a read that works for all ages on multiple levels.  Paired with the pictures is a bit of a travel log from the duos time on the road, but as informative and insightful as they are, Momo steals the show!  With that in mind, here are a few that I felt needed highlighting...
Easiest to Spot:  In the North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama spread pg 51...it's just a dog and his tree.  A big one at that!
Most Unexpected Hiding Spot:  Washington, Skylark's Hidden Cafe - Momo just pops right out of the picture!  (pun intended...read it, you'll see)
Cutest Pic:  Too hard to pick!  If I can cheat though, I'll take the last page before you turn the back cover.  You get a full fledged image of Momo that is just TOO CUTE to resist!
Hardest to Spot:  There was one in the Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma spread (pg 67 specifically).  I actually had to use the reveal Momo key at the back of the book!
Loving the Scenery:  Buchart Gardens, Brentwood Bay, British Columbia - The greenery, flowers, and foliage is truly beautiful and Momo hiding among it all just adds to the charm.
Besties:  Momo and Andrew Knapp
...and the list could keep going, but I'd rather let you explore it more and add your own picks!  (Feel free to stop back by and share your top few too!)
Recommended read for all ages.  Whether you're a fan of unique photography, search-and-finds of the picture variety, or a dog lover, this book has something for you.  So, CAN you find Momo?  It's not always as easy as you might think, but the fun is all in the trying!
Okay, can I just say how much FUN this one was?  Because really, it was.
It’s the perfect picture search and find for readers of all ages.  There’s no questionable content.  There’s no exposures to worry little ones will get a full frontal of. ..unless you have some strange qualms about adorable  border collies in all there beauty, then you might have an objection.  *smirk*  There’s only curious photo ops in places ranging on beauty from the magnifique to the quirky, with a friendly and fun furry friend that is not only photogenic, but an AWESOME opponent in a game of hide-and-seek.  The true challenge here isn't simply seeing if you can find Momo as the title requests, but seeing just how many people you can share the fun with.  Let's see, right now I'm up to at least 10 in person and virtually.... *counts those reading....this means YOU*....
