I gotta say, it's another win for this amazing author, at least in my humble opinion. She has a knack for writing stirring tales that warm the heart, quicken the pulse, and leave you with the happily-ever-after you crave from a time gone by kept accessible thanks to the well worded passages. Now, there's something a little different about this one though that begged mentioning...the leads are beyond the usual twenty and four age range.
No, stop it.
Seriously though, THINK ABOUT IT.
How often do you get a tale that stars anyone beyond the twenty something set? It's almost as if people think love stops after that age, and women simply shrivel up to a prune-ish version of their former selves, never to have their heart beat with passion again. Yeah, so not that case. Grant it, I'm not speaking from experience...I'm older than the twenty-something, but not that old...but I am speaking from the viewpoint of a reader that has posed this question before. Why can't we have stories featuring older characters? Are their feelings any less warranted? Are their entanglements any less entangled? There once was a series that I dearly adored (okay, still do) and there was a particular character that always had their hands in EVERYTHING and was there for EVERYONE, so the natural course of things had me wondering...where was THIS person's story? The answer to said question from the author was this...no one wants to read a story featuring older characters. Well, I begged to differ then and I stand by those feelings now.
Lilian and Pietro were filled with FIRE, with PASSION, and shared so much heart that mine was filled to bursting too. Seeing them get a second chance not only with each other, but at love in general, no matter how unexpected, was wonderful, just as their story was beautiful, and filled with just enough blush worthy scenes to remind you that hey...experience can definitely be sexy. Recommended read for fans of the author and adult Historical Romance fans...for those same said blush causing scenes.

About the author...
When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
