Meet Whisper, Frannie, Sophie, Gemma, and Zuzu, five friends who tell eerie tales by night and navigate middle school drama by day.
MISERY FALLS, OREGON, IS ABUZZ AS the 100th anniversary of the electrocution of
the town’s most infamous killer, Silas Hoke, approaches. When a mysterious text
message leads the girls to the cemetery—where Silas Hoke is buried!—life can’t
get any creepier. Except, yes, it can thanks to the surprise storyteller who
meets them at the cemetery, inspires the first-ever meeting of the Graveyard
Girls, and sets the stage for a terrifying tale from Whisper that they’ll never
forget.
This slightly scary, extremely addictive story is the first in a five-book
series by New York Times bestselling authors Lisi Harrison and
Daniel Kraus.

Reviews
“The humor is strong throughout, and the story is strongest
when keeping readers guessing about what’s real—both in the interpersonal
conflicts and the seemingly supernatural happenings.... A good blend of spooky
and silly.” — Kirkus Reviews
“This clever, fast-paced story is filled with thrills that will have readers
flipping pages into the night.…The town of Misery Falls gives an eerie feeling
resembling that of Fear Street’s Shadyside.... A strong first title for
fans of scary stories, horror movies, and things that go bump in the
night.” — Booklist
😧 😨 😱
What starts off as an eerily creepy Children's Fiction story, turns into a story about friendship, bullying, looking at things from another's point of view, challenges, and...oh yeah, still the creepy dead guy's spirit who may be lingering about looking for his next victim!
The Graveyard Girls were once known as the Grim Sleepers...an equally cool name, but the change makes sense as things progress...but what once was a gathering of gals celebrating their friendship as well as their love for a GOOD spooky tale, has turned into more sleep, and less creepy. The last gathering gained one of them the title of most moan worthy tale yet! They need to up their game, or it may be the end of their secret club, which on a larger scale could mean the breaking up of their friendship! In a town like Misery Falls, there should be an endless supply of scary things to inspire, and yet it seems that the scary bits of life are what's getting the girls, and their imaginations, down. Enter...a new friend, a spooky anonymous text message, and four girls daring to do things they've never done before. It's a test of their friendship as much as a test of themselves as they each face down their own demons, while working towards facing the evil from their town's own past. Can they do it, or will fear get the best of them? Surprisingly, I'd put my bet on them...
I loved our leading ladies, and all their perceived flaws. Each one was relateable, and had something they had to overcome either physically, or emotionally, which made it that much more real. Readers can easily find themselves in any one of them. My favorite moment was when the new stand-in drama teacher shows Miranda what's for, giving Frannie a moment to shine. My favorite voice in the story was actually that of Silas Hoke. Oh yes, he's the evil one that was killed many many moons ago for reasons revealed in the story...but his chapters were UBER CREEPY, and seriously brought the atmosphere to the book I was looking for. The ending...well, we know it's a series, and we know some can tie things up at the end of each installment, but while some things are solved, the BIG ONE is not, and within the final moments, the ground will be taken right out from under you....so hold on tight!
A great read for the season, and a great start to a series I know I'll be on the lookout for!
