Right from the start… 

...I knew this was going to be a TOUGH one. 

Not the reaction you were expecting, right? 

Well, for those who know the characters, you’ll probably have guessed why right from the start. 

Sam is celebrating her recent engagement, or well at least she should be, but those she wants to share the news with seem to be keeping her at more than arm’s length, and a text message seemed so impersonal, until it wasn’t, and the outcome seemed catastrophic. Okay, so Chloe’s arrival wasn’t purely prompted by the news being delivered so, but it definitely seems to ignite a chain of events that spiral into a long boxed up memory being dredged up from the depths, a potential separation that may be longer than expected, and a surprising twist of events that you won’t quite see coming. 

I loved catching up with Sam and friends, as well as the familiarity of the setting.  It makes it feel like old friends you're catching up with every time you pick up the next installment.  Honestly though, I’m in the same boat with Chloe as I have been throughout the series...I just don’t like the woman. I understand her more now, and I’m glad to see some change, but all the backstabbing, big drama, and hate that’s been spewed have left their mark and I’m afraid it’s fairly indelible for me. That being said, I still enjoyed this story and her character’s growth, and being the soft hearted individual that I am, still feel bad for the past that has haunted her, and the future that she’s uncovered. Here’s hoping all turns to right. I was expecting a GIANT TWIST of events by story’s end, but not the one we received! I really saw that whole connection thing going another way, not that I’m disappointed in the least, but still...the nerve! Sorry, I’ve said too much, but you’ll have to read it to see...just cross your fingers that our gal Sam can pull through this one! 

All in all, all is not well a Hedgehog Hollow...but with time, patience, and a whole lot of heart, it’s definitely on its way to happier times once again (minus that ending...OMG, that ending!). I know I’ll be staying tuned for our next visit to see just how it all unfolds...

We begin as we ended...and grow to so much more.

No time has truly passed since we said goodbye to our new found friends from Finding Love at Hedgehog Hollow, and we're all the better for it!  (QUICK NOTE:  If you haven't read the first, I definitely recommend it, but the author has you covered with a quickie catchup portion at the start of the book!) Sam and Josh are getting the grand opening underway with the help of the community that had embraced them...but that doesn't mean everything will be a bed of roses minus the thorns.  In fact, they are in for some severe growing pains both personally and professionally as the charity comes under attack (several gruesome acts, but they are given less than detailed moments to help avoid total heartbreak), family ties thought severed attempt to be rebuilt, new friends are added to the brood, and life choices are altered by new understandings.  It's a prickly ride full of heart that, yes, has its moments, but that's life!  They're all the more REAL for it.  One small thing though...I've still not warmed to Chloe.  Honestly, I know Sam is saint-like in patience, but between Chloe and the mom?  Ugh!  I'd have ended that LONG ago.  Perhaps we'll (or I'll in case I'm in the minority here) get a better relationship built with her in the next installment because it looks like there'll definitely be some drama!

All in all, a lovely addition to a series that has captured my heart.  If you're a fan of Contemporary, or Women's Fiction, I highly recommend this charming series for a reading escape you just might not want to come back from...

This story had me by the heartstrings the entire time.

Sam had more than a little bit of ups and downs, but with the kind words of her Gramps ringing in her ears, she never truly gave up.  She had a wonderfully giving nature, always thinking of others before herself, and yes, sometimes it was to her own detriment, but there's never a wrong time to be nice.  There's never a bad moment to show compassion, turn the other cheek, or even if it means a happier heart in the end, cutting ties.  She gave up so much in her life, unknowingly of course, and in the time we get to know her, she still loses even more, but we also get to see the blessings her good nature eventually returns to her.  Everyone gauges riches differently, but to me, she was top notch.  She may have wanted different things from her life, yet by book's end, she can see the forest for the trees, or perhaps better put, the meadow for the flowers.  The lives she touched and was touched by, the friendships she lost, gained, and rebuilt anew along the way, the familial connections that gained new strength as she added new members to the clan by choice versus blood, and finally, yes finally, her chance at true, meaningful love.

I had a wonderful time in Hedgehog Hollow and despite the bad times she experienced, the good always won out.  Take a trip to a place overflowing with character and characters. A place where good people look out for each other, and there's always room for one more at the table.  A place where home truly is where the heart is.

A story of one woman's fairy tale come true...or is it?

This one had me in stitches, so yes....Romantic Comedy DEFINITELY fits the bill!  From Auntie Kay's meddling to Sarah's friends with conflicting personalities, her quest for THE Steven to her antics at the shop, I had a BLAST with this one from ecover to ecover.  

I loved how the author instilled Sarah with both a somewhat practical nature as well as that of a hopeless romantic.  She could see the forest for the trees, or rather the dating pool for the Stevens and the non, but couldn't quite bring herself to let that predicted fairy tale slip away.  Who could really blame her either?  The fantasy was so sweet and her reality thus far hadn't exactly been a bed of roses, at least not without many thorns.  

Can I say something though?  I was totally TEAM NICK from the moment we set eyes on him in Flowers.  (Auntie Kay...you've got good taste!)  I mean, come on!  The looks with the personality, the kind heart with the sincere flirting....as much as I loved the idea of the clairvoyant's "story" coming true, I couldn't help but wish she'd left The One nameless to give our girl a bigger pond to swim in.  Does she end up with said love interest?  Sorry...can't say as she is bound and determined to catch her Steven...but if you check out the story on your own, you'll find out, but trust me when I say, it's well worth the read.  

In the end, I gotta say, LOVED IT!  I mean, where else are you going to watch a 30 year old woman play a modern day flip version of  Desperately Seeking Susan...only it's Steven...and make eyes with pretty much every one that crosses her path (well, every Steven that is), sometimes to the point of subtle embarrassment, and yet try try again?  Oh, and let's not forget the wonderfully quirky friends because guess what...their stories are books 2 and 3!  Exactly....so make room on your ereader or in your app because it's time to take a trip to Whitsborough Bay that you won't soon forget!

About the author...

Jessica [Redland] had never considered writing as a career until a former manager kept telling her that her business reports read more like stories and she should write a book. She loved writing but had no plot ideas. Then something happened to her that prompted the premise for her debut novel, Searching for Steven. She put fingers to keyboard and soon realised she had a trilogy and a novella!

She lives on the stunning North Yorkshire Coast – the inspiration for the settings in her books – with her husband, daughter, cat, Sprocker Spaniel, and an ever-growing collection of collectible teddy bears. Although if the dog has her way, the collection will be reduced to a pile of stuffing and chewed limbs!

Jessica tries to balance her time – usually unsuccessfully – between being an HR tutor and writing.
