RRR presents... The Fixer Upper by Phoebe Macleod - REVIEW!

Today we welcome Rachel's Random Resources and the latest release from author Phoebe MacLeod. She's penned many works that are heartwarming, uplifting, and smile inducing, and this latest is no exception.  Ladies and gents, let's take a closer look at today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...

The Fixer Upper
by
Phoebe MacLeod

About the book...
Finding a man is like buying a house: sometimes you have to look beyond the exterior to see the potential underneath.

As an estate agent, Alex’s job is to create happy-ever-afters. It’s just a shame she can’t work the same magic on her own life. Her long-term boyfriend Thomas still lives with his mother, and her hopes of them taking the next step are dashed when he announces he’s spending all his savings (savings she’d quite hoped he’d want to put towards their future home) on an ‘artist retreat’ in San Francisco.

With Thomas thousands of miles away, getting a little too friendly with his fellow artistes, Alex strikes up a friendship with her new neighbour, Callum. Taciturn, grumpy and nerdy, Callum couldn’t be more different to Alex’s bubbly personality.... So why is he the one she wakes up wanting to talk to?

As they get to know each other, Alex starts to wonder if the answer to all her problems might be closer to home than she thinks…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What begins as an adventure in friendship turns into a potential double love affair!
It was great watching the meet cute moments between Alex's bestie and their new neighbour, especially when the one at the Cafe went so well! Tongue tied is a real condition, and usually eats rears it's head just when you're trying to keep your cool. Such is the case here, but the heart knew what it wanted even when the mouth couldn't form the words. One connection down, that left one friend flatmate-less and one bestie (Alex) in the same situation. A swap of a sort happens, and while it might have been made out of logical convenience, it might just end with hearts a flutter.
It was cute to see the comings together actually come together. There were moments of laughter along the way, moments of growth, self realization, and change, but perhaps most importantly... love of both the soul mate variety and the friend.  A great pick for Contemporary Romance fans as well as light Romcom and Women's Fiction fans.
RRR presents... An Un Romantic Comedy by Phoebe MacLeod - REVIEW!
Oh my goodness, I SO needed a read like this!  I just, ugh...I'm going to get into it because I don't want to color this post in any direction but the best way possible, but rest assured this dose of laughter, human struggles, reassurances, and love is just what the doctor ordered!  I've read this author's work before and remembered it fondly, so when this one came around on a Rachel's Random Resources tour, I knew I had to take part!  Ladies and gents, let's get between the pages of today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...
An Un Romantic Comedy
by
Phobe MacLeod
About the book...
The course of true love never did run smooth, but with Phoebe MacLeod it always gets a chance. Perfect for fans of Jo Watson, Mhairi McFarlane and Portia MacIntosh.
The black sheep is coming home for her sister’s wedding.
One week with the whole family in one house.
What could possibly go wrong?
Poppy is a therapist. You’d think her parents would be proud. But Poppy is the type of therapist that makes her mother cringe - she helps people with their, ahem, bedroom problems…
Normally Poppy deals with her difficult family - two parents, one brother, a couple sisters and an assortment of nieces and nephews - by keeping a county or two between her and them. But with her little sister about to get married there’s no avoiding the week-long family holiday in Cornwall.
The trip was always going to be a catastrophe, but Poppy never imagined how much her family needed her professional skills… Nor did she expect to meet a sexy surfer on what was supposed to be the most unromantic holiday ever.
Can a nightmare holiday lead to the love of a lifetime?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I really had a lot of fun with this one!

From the awkward meet cute (because everyone assumes the hot surfer guy hitting on you only wants to get in your wet suit without proper provocation) to the potentially happy-NEVER-after (don't ask, JUST READ!), there were miles and miles between the epages that I traveled with a happy smile on my face.

Poppy wasn't a problem child (now woman); she just knew at a rather young age that she wanted to learn more about certain things. Things that it's not always seen as "right" for a woman to know, have control over, have researched, or maybe even a degree in. She's a sex therapist, and despite what some people think the role might be (TOO FUNNY even though it caused some major divisions), it's actually more about getting down to the nitty gritty of the emotional problems/issues behind the ways it is manifesting. Though a small set of readers may shy away from the conversations Poppy has with a few clients and, eventually, family members (again, don't ask...just know that they are truly eye opening and helpful,and just read the book!), I found them tastefully done, entertaining, AND educational.

That being said, it wasn't all about THAT (LOL!). It had a huge amount to do with familial relationships, potential romantic connections, bridemaid-zillas (OMG the nerve of that girl!), the importance of being true to yourself and allowing others to see that truth. We all know the ones worth knowing, the ones worth keeping, the ones worth calling family, friend, or partner will take us just as we are...it may be hard to remember at times, but it shouldn't send us into a talespin to conform to someone else's idea of us. In the end, we'd just end up unhappy which would rub off on those around us, and the ripple effect goes on and on. So, come for the romantic potential, stay for the hard talks and education, and leave with a smile on your face and hearts in your eyes because I SO TOTALLY CALLED THAT ENDING!

RRR presents... SOMEONE ELSE'S HONEYMOON by Phoebe MacLeod - REVIEW!

Hi guys!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're back with Rachel's Random Resources and another tour starring a book that will melt any Rom Com lover's heart. It's funny, it's sweet, it gives you a story that is just far enough out there to remove you from your every day, but not so far as to be completely unbelievable. What? A girl can dream, right? Anywho, let's get between the pages of today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

Someone Else’s Honeymoon
by
Phoebe MacLeod
Boldwood Books

About the book...
When Charley finds herself suddenly single on Christmas Day it feels like her world has fallen apart.

Forced to move back in with her parents, she embarks on a journey of re-invention. When she meets Ed, who is on honeymoon alone after being jilted at the altar by a bride he's never met, it looks like her life may be taking a turn for the better.

Fate, however, has other ideas, and she and Ed are forced apart.

Will she find her way back to him, or are they just not meant to be?

Go ahead.
Admit it.
You watch reality tv...and you're not ashamed of it.

Don't worry, we all do now and then.  Personally, I like the shows that are talent based, makeovers, or saying yes to a certain dress, but that's as far as my love affair with them go.  Still, whether you watch them or not, you know you've thought about it at some point...what happens behind the camera?  What moments are left on the cutting room floor?  What type of people sign up to DO these types of shows, and why?  Yeah, there's a motherload of questions that come up with that topic, but now we get the chance to find out in the most amazing way possible!

Charley's character had been hurt by an earth-loving a**hole that couldn't keep it in his pants despite the fact they had been together for TEN YEARS!  He had the audacity to suggest a "break" on Christmas of all days, and while he used their gift swap spat as a catalyst (but seriously WHO would give someone a toothbrush as a present?!), he had already been on Santa's naughty list well before the holiday.  I felt for Charley, but I also loved how she handled things because that confrontation was PRICELESS, and SO deserved!  Life changed on a dime for her, but as they say, when a door closes, a window opens, and her window led to a trip to Antigua (OMG!) where she meets Ed...and takes a spot on his honeymoon in lieu of his wife.  *gasp*  Now, before you get started, it's not what you're thinking, though it sounds sordid, and things development naturally between them as they spend more and more time together, but all is not smooth sailing, or windsurfing, in paradise!  There are more obstacles to overcome just like any other potential couple, between over eager cameramen, spontaneous trips out of pocket, and cell phone mishaps that start the ball rolling on six months of akwardness...to say the very least.  In the end, all's well that ends well, but if you want to know if they reach their very own HEA...you'll have to read it to find out!

Come for the curious title, but stay for the AMAZING story filled with characters and situations you won't want to miss.  Your heart will be warmed (all the lovely moments!), and your stomach muscles tested (from laughing!), but you'll be one satisfied reader.
