RRR presents... THE COLOUR OF SUMMER by Victoria Connelly - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're back with Rachel's Random Resources as we get between the epages of the latest release from author Victoria Connelly. You might recognize the name from your own reading, or from my site as it seems I've read quite a few of her works (and enjoyed them thoroughly!), but I digress...this isn't about the past, but the present...and yet, it is, in the story. Ladies and gents, let's take a trip back to Winfield Hall and discover just what the future has in store for us with today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

The Colour of Summer
by
Victoria Connelly

About the book...
How long can you hide your past from the one you love?

When Abigail and Edward became co-owners of historic Winfield Hall in the beautiful Sussex countryside, they had little idea what the future held. But, as the days of summer lengthen, their feelings towards one another grow and love begins to blossom.

Harry and Aura have been a couple for a year now and, with the summer solstice approaching, Harry hatches a very special plan. He just hopes that the sun, moon and the stars are all in alignment.

But not everything is going to plan. Life has a way of catching up with you and it isn’t long before Abi discovers that Edward’s been lying about his past, and the family secrets he’s been hiding now threaten their future happiness. Can Edward make amends for his mistakes and will Abi ever be able to forgive and trust him again?

Heartwarming and uplifting, The Colour of Summer is the final book in The House in the Clouds trilogy by bestselling author Victoria Connelly.

Once upon a time, there was a house on a hill that appeared to be among the clouds. It drew artists and hurting souls with its melancholy aire, and yet promised new beginnings, and second chances, if only it too was given one. That chance was given by Abigail and Edward...and the house had yet the chance to bestow its promise on them, until now.

A lovely return to Winfield Hall, if ever there was...except, things aren't just as they were. Well, okay, Abigail and Edward's stagnant non-relationship is...for the moment...but the housemates are up in arms, family is proving more tedious than loving, and change seems to be in the air, for better or worse. The last part on the better end includes a proposal on the horizon for two you couldn't be more surprised about, nor happy for....but the later features the last days for a few souls, some of which were harder to see leave this earthly plain. Your heart will ache, right alongside Abigail's (as well as a few others), but the memories gifted, the lessons learned will stay within their hearts.

I admit, I was thrilled for the potential couple, but absolutely livid with Edward. I mean, he knows what truth, and honesty mean to Abigail. She's had enough secrets in her life to last someone else's lifetime, and he pulls a stunt like that?! I'll say this, her reaction was nothing to what was going on in my own head. Good thing she has a way about her that can overcome things other dwell on, and while I see her point, it didn't make the initial hurt inflicted, hurt any less. Speaking of hurts, there is definitely some heartache to be shared from Abigail and her sister's past as it comes back to haunt them, but the haunt is short lived when they finally face the truth head on. That ending though, well...I have to say, it was just the perfect way to call it a day on this series. It left your heart smiling, and your eyes filled with hope for brighter tomorrow's come what may.

All in all, a trilogy where the books truly work hand in hand. With every release, the connections grow from building upon the initial world created to the characters we've come to love, and the relationships between everyone that surrounds. There are different personalities represented, life paths followed, beliefs explored, making the book feel more inclusive, as if it was inviting readers from all backgrounds to come in for a spell, and find your home within. It was a community you'll feel lucky to be a part of and sad to say goodbye too...at least until you choose to do a reread!

RRR presents... HIGH BLUE SKY by Victoria Connelly - REVIEW!

HI guys!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're got another double header of Rachel's Random Resources goodness with not one, but TWO blog tours to sink your reading teeth into! Up first, the latest from author Victoria Connelly, which can most certainly be read as a stand alone, but pairs up perfectly well with her previous release, The House in the Clouds. This time around, Abi and Edward tentatively move forward in achingly slow steps, and we get involved in the lives of the latest residents of this beautiful mansion, Aura and Harry. Ready, set, get ready to catch a glimpse of my adventure between the pages of today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

High Blue Sky
by
Victoria Connelly

About the book...
What would you sacrifice to be with the person you love?

Summer has arrived and it’s over a year since strangers Abigail and Edward bought Winfield Hall at auction and restored it together. Now, two new tenants are about to join them at their beautiful Georgian home.

Workaholic Harry Freeman has forgotten what it is to relax so when he meets healer, Aura Arden, and learns to meditate with her, he can’t believe how good he feels and he soon finds himself falling for her. But, with her bare feet and crystal beads, Aura’s not a big hit with Harry’s old-fashioned parents, and he finds himself torn between the people he loves most in the world.

It isn’t just Harry and Aura finding love. Summer has woven its spell over Edward and his brother Oscar, and both are making a play for Abi. But Abi isn’t happy at having to choose between these two very different men and, when Oscar’s behavior spirals out of control, she realizes that some decisions can have devastating consequences.

High Blue Sky is the second novel in the heart-warming trilogy from the bestselling author of The Rose Girls and The Book Lovers series.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was wonderful to pick up right where we left off....Abi and Edward having both comfortably moved in, moving forward with their renovations of the gorgeous mansion, and continuing to build that bridge towards each other one tiny step at a time. There are obstacles thrown in the mix, such as their uncertainty of the other's feelings, their shared desire not to mess us their blossoming friendship and living arrangments, and a particular brother with a dangerous streak. Yes, things will be far from boring and by the time the story comes to a close, you'll be rooting for them all the more! As for our new duo...
Aura was MADE to be at the mansion. I mean, her artistic nature, her creativity, her pursuit of healing endeavors that stem from crystal usage versus medicines, and her wonderfully kind heart all simply SCREAM this is where she belongs. I really loved her outlook on life, and her ability to simply BREATHE.  Sounds like a simple think, but think about your own day to day life...it really isn't!  Lucky for her, the opportunity presents itself when she is looking for something exactly like it. Even more lucky for her that she meets Harry because they are two souls who never knew how much they needed one another, until they did and now that they do, being apart is the furthest thing from either of their hearts. Insert dramatic problem here....the family. Harry has always been straight laced with an eye on the prize and a mind lost to the business. Since he's met Aura, his mind has been opened to so much more...and for some, that's hard to handle! It takes an event of unfortunate proportions for certain parties to see that just because they don't understand something, doesn't make it any less effective, less important, less real, less worthy of pursuit.
The coming together of everyone was a balm for the soul, but don't worry, I've revealed nothing of true consequence. The how, and the way are anything other than clear, and the journey on those winding roads to it are riddled with many forks and alternatives that will keep you glued to the page as you work out just what life has in store for everyone involved. A great follow-up to the prior release, giving you just that much more to love about the growing trilogy, and a desire to know what the conclusion will bring.
RRR presents... THE HOUSE IN THE CLOUDS by Victoria Connelly - REVIEW!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're pleased to welcome back Rachel's Random Resources and author Victoria Connelly as we shine a great big spotlight on her latest release! It reads as a standalone, but from the ending...there appears to be a book two still to come (*fingers crossed*), so yeah; more reading to look forward too! But enough of the future, let's talk about the present, and today's "gift" is front and center as we focus in on our ebook of choice...
The House in the Clouds
by
Victoria Connelly
About the book...
Artist Abigail Carey has always dreamed of a life in the country and, when Winfield Hall comes up at auction, she’s desperate to make the place her home. The only trouble is that businessman, Edward Townsend, has exactly the same idea.
With its position high on the Sussex Downs, Winfield is a stunning house, but it hasn’t been a home for a long time and there’s a lot of work to do to restore it to its former glory. It’s going to take a lot of time and money, so Edward and Abi decide to take a risk and share the house, each living in their own wing.
But can these two strangers agree on a vision that suits them both? And will free-spirited Abi ever get the rather reserved Edward to reveal the secret he’s been hiding for so long?
The House in the Clouds is the first novel in a brand new trilogy from the bestselling author of The Rose Girls and The Book Lovers series.
I've read a few of the author's other works, and she has such a wonderful writing style.  She builds the worlds of the characters around YOU, making you feel like an integral part of the story.  You can see the gorgeous downs, feel the wind ruffle your hair as it blows through the trees, and dances around the unkept garden.  The magic and majesty of the Winfield house itself is certainly not lost either, despite it needing a bit more than TLC in order to get her ready as a living space once again.  You can feel the life the house has left in it to share, the desire it has to be a place of rest, repair, and dreams.  That's what it brings to the initial homebuyer, and eventually his estate partner.
Edward and Abigail were both drawn to the house for their own reasons, but it worked it's magic on them equally...and continues to do so well after the papers are signed.  She is settling into a new life and he is trying to find his footing once again, but in the end, they both make headway towards a future that while not laid out plain as day, is certainly coming more into focus...and that whisper of a promise at a better tomorrow is more than enough for them both.
All in all, it was a beautiful story that introduced us to two souls in search of something even they don't understand, but they know that Winfield is the place to be to achieve that internal peace they crave, while uncovering more about themselves than they ever realized possible.  The only downside was the ending...but that was BEFORE I realized it was the FIRST IN A NEW TRILOGY!  Now, I'm more than settled with where things were left because there's MORE TO COME!  (*fist pump*)
RRR presents... THE BEAUTY OF BROKEN THINGS By Victoria Connelly - REVIEW!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their current tour featuring another work from author Victoria Connelly.  You may remember that we featured her Book Lovers series a few weeks back, and though a new to me author at the time, I fell in love with her writing.  So, when this opportunity came round, I was more than happy to throw my name in for a chance to participate because I was quite honestly anticipating another fabulous read.  Did I get what I was hoping for?  Let's see, shall we?  Ready, set, let's read all about today's title in the spotlight and ebook of choice...
The Beauty of Broken Things
by
Victoria Connelly
About the book...
United by tragedy, can two broken souls make each other whole?
 After the tragic loss of his wife, Helen, Luke Hansard is desperate to keep her memory alive. In an effort to stay close to her, he reaches out to an online friend Helen often mentioned: a reclusive photographer with a curious interest in beautiful but broken objects. But first he must find her—and she doesn’t want to be found.
Orla Kendrick lives alone in the ruins of a remote Suffolk castle, hiding from the haunting past that has left her physically and emotionally scarred. In her fortress, she can keep a safe distance from prying eyes, surrounded by her broken treasures and insulated from the world outside.
When Luke tracks Orla down, he is determined to help her in the way Helen wanted to: by encouraging her out of her isolation and back into the world. But Orla has never seen her refuge as a prison and, when painful secrets and dangerous threats begin to resurface, Luke’s good deed is turned on its head.
As they work through their grief for Helen in very different ways, will these two broken souls be able to heal?
Okay, so I started and stopped, typed and backspaced so many times when I started writing this review, I honestly wasn't sure what I was going to be left with.  I couldn't seem to (and still can't to some degree) quite express the level of beauty that is captured within this work.  It truly takes us through the landscape of the heart with all its pitfalls, and passions, letting us be guided by the characters themselves as they attempt to find a level of balance in their lives once again.
My heart broke for Helen, Luke, and Orla, equally in turn.  The first for the lack of life she'd have, the second for the heartbreak he experienced along with the what ifs, and the third for her tenuous connection to life that was lost, but also the horrors she still needed to face in her own life.  There was so much hurt, so much pain, so much brokenness that one didn't quite know where to look to find some semblance of joy, some light of hope in these very dark times.  They say that people come into our lives at exactly the moment they were meant to...no sooner, no later.  Well a definite case can be made for that here because for as much sadness as there was to go around, these two broken souls were able to pull each other through to the other side of their great losses, and while they both still have a ways to go, steps forward are still a win toward discovering happiness once again.
So take a chance on this beautiful novel full of broken "things"...and I think you'll discover just how truly human those experiences that made the cracks, and created the chips, really are.
RRR presents... SCENES FROM A COUNTRY BOOKSHOP by Victoria Connelly - REVIEW!
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're settling in for the final installment (well, thus far at least) of The Book Lovers series by Victoria Connelly.  We've had the pleasure of watching several Nightingales fall in love, and this time around...it's time for the unconquerable to fall (in the best way possible!)...but just as his heart seemed the hardest to reach, his story is going to take some unexpected turns before happily ever after is found.  So, if you're ready, grab your rose colored glasses and a steaming cup of tea, as we settle in for today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest via Rachel's Random Resources...
The Book Lovers series, Book 4
by
Victoria Connelly
About the book...
Josh Nightingale has always been married to his books. Happy to run his bookshop in the small town of Castle Clare, he’s never really had time for romance and truly believes that he’s never going to fall in love. But, when April Channing opens a new shop opposite his, everything changes.
Sweet and attentive one moment, abrupt and aloof the next, Josh really can’t understand April at all. What exactly is going on? Josh is pretty sure that the answer can’t be found in a book.
Book Love Love Books Love Reading Love Story Heart Shape Pages ...
I'm sorry, but last stop or not I've simply GOT to comment one more time on these BEAUTIFUL COVERS!  I mean, seriously...they are gorgeous and really make the whole set something to look at.  *happy sigh*  Anywho...
Today's tale takes us back to Castle Clare, nary a month after the last book's events...which, if you were wondering, makes the stories blend seamlessly together, and yet still totally workable as standalone titles.  Josh has always been there in the background with a kind word, a hearty laugh, and a bookshop fully stocked...except with a certain risqué type title that was all the rage that he stoutly refused to have on his store shelves.  (*giggle*)  Despite not having much of a love life of which to speak, he was happy, content, and well versed in entertaining himself with his literary entourage...at least until now.  April Channing walks through his door and right into his heart...but what to do about it all?  Now that, my friends, is an interesting question.
It was such a joy watching things unfold for Josh, and yet such a struggle at times too!  I couldn't help but wonder what surprise was in store for him next between unexpected "months" (that'll make sense when you read it), her less than traditional family life, and her penchant for living her brightest, most color filled life possible.  Then, the BIG ONE drops and it seemed like our hearts were to be left broken.  I got where she was coming from, and yet...not.  Ultimately, the things April was concerned with were not in her hands.  You can try to control everything you want, but it's not always your choice to make...and once again, the heart wants what the heart wants.
A wonderful conclusion (?) to this heart warming series that was filled with life, laughter, suspense, and most of all...LOVE.  A definite recommendation for Contemporary Romance and Women's Fiction fans.  If you've not scheduled your "trip" to Castle Clare, it's high time you do!
5 Ways to Heal From a Broken Heart | Power of Positivity
Six years ago, he walked away.
Six years ago, her heart broke into a million pieces.
Six years ago, truths weren't spoken and heart's weren't bared.
They say time heals all wounds...and yet, does it?
Could YOU forgive the one you hold dear for walking away?
Could YOU start again where you left off all that time ago?
Would you even want to?
Oh so many questions and yet, only so many epages to explore them!
I actually had a harder time getting into this one initially...and I can tell you precisely why.  In a word, BEN.  In a few more words...I was totally with Byrony on the exasperation of her family welcoming the little troll back into the fold with nary a care for how she would feel.  What of the broken heart they helped pick up the pieces of over the years?  What of her desires or lack thereof now?  I get that they are just that kind of family and he was an honorary member, but my word!  I was beside myself with wanting to smack the man upside the head for how he left things...and no, the added news of her lack of response to his writing while they were apart, made not a bit of difference.  I too could only see that if he truly loved her, he would have kept writing, or hey, novel idea, visited for crying out loud!  (*silent scream*)  That being said...
When all was said and done, she had her moment of payback, sadly it wasn't what it should have been because other events took a piece of his heart already, but it is what it is.  No, I'm not saying it was right of her, but I can't say I wouldn't have supported her regardless.  Anywho...suffice it to say that the baker sticks with the flour he knows and Ben....MIGHT...just have his day.  Side note...Flo and her nephew actually have a bit of a big story line here too!  The nasty piece of work that is known as Mitch, certainly deserves all our loathing and more, but with a little help from Byrony, and a lot of heart from the effervescent Flo, things turn out as right as they can in the end.
To sum, another great add to this series, even if the fella is still someone I'm not a huge fan of...and a definite build up to the next installment where Josh may just finally meet his heart's desire that doesn't have pages to turn!
