Spring at the Little Duck Cafe
by
Rosie Green
RELEASE DATE:  03/22/18

About the book...
Fleeing from a romance gone wrong, Ellie Farmer arrives in the pretty little village of Sunnybrook, hoping for a brand new start that most definitely does not include love! Following an unscheduled soak in the village duck pond, she meets Sylvia, who runs the nearby Duck Pond Café. Renting the little flat above the café seems like the answer to Ellie’s prayers. It’s only for six months, which will give her time to sort out her life, far away from cheating fiancé Richard.

But is running away from your past ever really the answer?

Clashing with the mysterious and brooding Zak Chamberlain, an author with a bad case of writer’s block, is definitely not what Ellie needs right now. And then there’s Sylvia, who’s clinging so hard to her past, she’s in danger of losing the quaint but run-down Duck Pond Café altogether.

Can Ellie find the answers she desperately needs in Sunnybrook? And will she be able to help save Sylvia’s little Duck Pond Café from closure?

🌟  GREAT NEWS!  🌟
This novella is part of a trilogy...
Spring at The Little Duck Pond Café
Summer at The Little Duck Pond Café
Winter at The Little Duck Pond Café

About the author...

Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. The first, Spring at the Little Duck Pond Café, is out on March 22nd 2018.

COVER REVEAL: Neon Dreams: Missing Dixie by Caisey Quinn + GIVEAWAY!

Hi guys and gals!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're helping to spread the word throughout the blogosphere about a soon to be released title coming to a bookstore shelf near you!  It's the THIRD and FINAL addition to the Neon Dreams trilogy from author Caisey Quinn and if you've been following along so far, you know things get PRETTY DARN STEAMY.  *ahem*  Yes, this is not one for the kiddos; no siree.

Nope...that's not the cover!

Now the book is scheduled for release this OCTOBER but what would a book be without its cover?  Well okay, it'd still be a BOOK just coverless and therefore probably spending its days alone on the shelf until someone happened upon it.  ~tear~  Don't worry readers, there's no chance of that happening with what they've selected.  BUT...before we get to the actual reveal, let's take a look back at the first two releases....

Book 1

In the introduction to the series, we get up close and personal with Dixie Lark and Gavin Garrison.  She's the "little sister" and fiddle wiz that was untouchable; he's the bad boy drummer with a past and a promise to keep his hands off no matter what.  Let's just say that boundaries are definitely tested.  To read my complete review, just click HERE.
Now, on to book two...

Book 2

The second installment finds us following Dallas Lark as he strikes out on his own.  Why?  You'll have to read the first book to find out but along the way his identity gets lost, choices are questioned, and pasts crop up that he would rather not forget regardless of what he might say.  While the story line was enjoyable, I had a hard time with the crassness of the story, but it didn't keep me from getting to book's end for the BIG SURPRISE.  Check out my full review, right HERE.
Now, let's talk about book three...

Nope...still not the cover you are looking for! ^-^

About the book...

Fighting for redemption…
I’ve lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and addictions. The
last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I’d ever loved—the one who brought
me into the light. In my entire life I’d made one promise—a promise I’d intended to keep.
I’ve broken that promise and now I have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I
have to tell her that I love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.
Can she love me even if she can’t forgive me?

Learning to move on…
Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in the process. I
may never love anyone the way I’ve loved him, but at least I won’t spend my life wondering
what if. We had our one night and he walked away. I’m finally beginning to move on when
my brother’s wedding and a battle of the bands brings us back together.
Our band is getting a second chance, but I don’t know if I can give him one. How do you
hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?

Oh wait a second...you wanted to see the cover now didn't you?
Hehe...just seeing if you were paying attention.
Drumroll for the big COVER REVEAL if you please....

Yes, THIS is the actual cover for book 3!

Is it all you were hoping for?
Personally, I'm pro-ing and con-ing.

Pros:  consistency in font, catchy title choice, and imagery...it's great to see the same cover model portraying Dixie.
Cons:  don't get me wrong, the male pictured is definitely easy on the eyes, but he didn't fit my mind's eye image of Gavin.  I was thinking scruffier, more of an edge....he looks like he just got done working at a swanky office or finishing his serving shift.

The real question is though, WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Does it make you even more excited for the upcoming release?
Are you pinning it as we speak to your cover love board on Pinterest?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you may know from visiting my site (which hopefully you do on the regular....right?  *-*), I'm not one to dabble in the Sci-fi genre that often.  Something about the whole world, language, society, etc creation just boggles my mind a smidge and creates a broken junction between my reading enjoyment and the actual story.  This time around, the results were much less dismal...in fact, I dare say they were enjoyable!
While it certainly wouldn't make me a convert to the genre (sorry, just not my thing), I was intrigued enough with the plot and characters to scurry along through the pages like the avid reader I am.  True, if asked I couldn't necessarily tell you which planet whom was from and where they were going, planning to take over, or plotting against (none of which is the fault of the author), but I got the gist of it all and for someone not at home in this particular reading box, that's saying a lot.  Now, regarding the story...
The opening reveals some disturbing information about the travels of particular otherworldly beings to areas in which they aren't to be as well as some bricks that are missing.  What's important about a few bricks?  Ah, good question.  They aren't your ordinary mud and mortar type but clear housings for cy-sects...nasty little things that carry poison and can multiply faster than you can say bunny.  Just where they went is a mystery, as is the why, but things start to become a little clearer as the story progresses.  Jump forward a bit and we've moved the spotlight to Guy Erma, a talented orphan child held back by his lack of parents but not for long if he has any say in the matter, and Prince Teodor, a child of similar age yet different circumstances....from the outside at least (one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" moments).  These two may be at odds even they don't understand but I have a feeling they share more than they know.  However, during the course of this story, one will loose his freedom while the other fights to see through the allusions presented them.
It's a tough nut to crack, but thankfully Regent Sayginn (Teodor's mother) is more than up to the task (at least in my opinion).  Oh, did I mention the Emperor is demanding her hand in marriage?  Yes, yes...it seems it would be better for all involved and truly set their worlds at peace.  (*cough cough*  Yeah right!  *cough cough*)  Let's just say that there is certainly more going on behind his doors than just peace treatys and frankly, he gives off a Darth Vadar vibe (before he sorta showed his heart).  ~shudders~  His intentions are less than honorable and the fact that he is hiding something doesn't escape the Regent nor an unexpected ally, Karl Valavanchi.  The plot thickens and things come to a head only to...end.
The only true drawback I could see was the ending...or rather the EPIC cliffhanger that leaves you wondering WTH!  HOW could you leave us this way!  What's going to happen to...and what about...and I think that maybe Guy is really...and, and, and....well, you get the picture.  There are A LOT of unanswered questions and the groundwork has certainly been laid to lead readers right into book 2.  I know it's on my wish list.
So in conclusion, whether you're a steadfast star gazing reader content to search for other worlds within the pages, or merely a sampler of reading delights that catch your eye, this one could certainly be for you.  It has a little bit of everything yet not enough of any to overwhelm.  The writing flows nicely, allowing the reader to be a part of the adventure without inundating us with detail.  I'd definitely call it a win win for all.
Fantasy Friday with... The Scholar, the Sphinx, and the Fang of Fenrir by A.R. Cook!
Hi gang!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, I'm flying high thanks to a few wonderful authors I've recently conversed with (you know who you are) and the day's selected title.  It comes to us from an author who cut her teeth on books from a young age, even becoming a bookseller for a while in a chain store that I've very familiar with, and is bringing true Fantasy reads to the Young Adult genre.  Take it from me, the self proclaimed reader-of-many-things-but-high-fantasy-generally-isn't-one-of-them, it's reach is much wider than the niche group the cover and/or title may speak to.  Without further adieu, ladies and gents, today's book of choice is....
About the book...
Two years after saving Acacia, the last living sphinx, from the night goddess Nyx, David Sandoval is happily married and settled down to a quiet life in Paris. But soon new monsters are after him from the other side of the Curtain, which separates the human world from the world of myth and legend. David discovers that a world-devouring creature, Fenrir, has broken free of his prison and is hunting Acacia for something she possesses and if he gets it, he can finally fulfill his fate to consume all existence. Reluctantly leaving behind his loving wife, David heads off in search of Acacia and his friend Gullin, the Master Huntsman who is trained to slay the most dangerous beasts ever known. But there is great evil afoot. Madness itself wants to claim David, for what purpose, no one knows. And there is rumor than an old adversary has returned, quite different from the last time David and Acacia saw him... Those enemies are nothing, however, compared to the new incarnation of Nyx, whose desire for the most prized gift of all--Fenrir’s ability to destroy any world--will make him stop at nothing to attain it. The new god also knows what to do to ensure David will not interfere with his plans, as the young man did with the previous Night goddess. Old friends and new allies band together in this continuing adventure of the Scholar and the Sphinx, as both their worlds could soon come to an end.
Being book 2 of a soon to be trilogy, it is HIGHLY recommended by this reader that you suck it up and READ BOOK 1 FIRST!  That's not to say you won't enjoy this one on its own, but everything makes much more sense if one has the background created from the first adventure.  Now, moving forward....
David "the Scholar" is BACK...and so are the baddies out to get him.  And his friends.  And his wife.  Oh, and pretty much ANYONE that tries to help him put an end to the proposed end of days occurring right now on BOTH sides of the Curtain.  Yep.  It's pretty dire.  Thank goodness David has a good head on his shoulders, a heart that beats true, and friends that would see him through to the end....even if some of them barely give that impression (more on that later).  It also helps that he saved the little wedding gift that Acacia left for him at the end of book 1 (< - see why it's important to read the first installment?).  They are definitely going to come in handy now not to mention the fact that they are actually much more than they seem; a statement that can be applied to almost everyone and everything in the story.  Things turn pretty bleak for David and company, but just when all seems lost, a ray of hope dawns like a new day.  Will it be enough to release both the magical and human realms from the fate that's been woven for them?  It might be....but that doesn't mean it's time to call it a WIN.  (Oh, you sneaky author you....that ending!  Ugh!  Where is book 3?  I NEED book 3, STAT!)  Suffice it to say that the story line will enchant, ensnare, and leave you ready for more.
The darkness and light BOTH have roles in this story, as do many legends, fables, and myths.  It's one of those surprising reads that you not only enjoy for pure entertainment value, but you also learn a little something along the way.  From Nyx to the sphinx, spirit guides to the legend of Odin, there is something to pick up for every reader.  Speaking of those fabled persona though, I gotta say it...Baba Yaga was a hoot!  I mean, okay...she's a witch of fabled legends that's suppose to be responsible for all sorts of tomfoolery and dark deeds, but you know what?  Actions speak louder than words and right here, right now, she's ACE in my book.  She had me laughing with her off the cuff remarks, cringing at her outbursts, and rooting for her to actually be one of the good one's when the final page of the book was turned.  Did it turn out that way?  My lips are sealed but trust me, you're gonna LOVE her character...as well as that of her cat.
Continuing in the vein of characters, the usual suspects show up including Acacia (as beautiful and strong as ever), Gullin (a drink happy chap but with strength of body AND heart), and Tanuki (as feisty as ever).  There are a few that are unable to make an appearance thanks to the evil taking hold of the world beyond the Curtain.  Oh, that evil wears many a familiar face too, my friends.  From the new face of Nyx to Nico, and of course the world thirsty beast Fenrir out for revenge and more.  They are certainly shudder worthy.
So, although 'Geras, Elli, and Baba Yaga sat down to play a hand of Bastra' may sound like the beginnings of a rather odd joke, it's actually one of many moments of mirth that are sprinkled throughout a wonderful YA Fantasy read I would highly recommend.  It has danger (giant, scary, rip-your-heart out Fenrir!).  It has love, both returned and unrequited.  It has unexpected friendships and uncommon strength found in the most unlikely places.  It'll keep you turning pages well into the night and leave you holding your breath as the last one turns.  My only dislike would be the cover.  I know, I know; we don't judge a book by its cover.  I totally adhere to that but I have to be honest, whereas Book 1 caught my attention, the same could not be said for this one.  Since I am not normally a pure fantasy reader, had I not known the author's work previously, I probably wouldn't have picked it up.  Sad but true.  That's one of many things I love about the book blogging community.  You can get to know reads that you might not have considered otherwise simply because a site you frequent or heard about, happened to feature it.  Recommended read for YA and Fantasy fans alike.  There's nothing to stop you here, except your own imagination.
About the Author
Christina George has worked in publishing for twenty years (give or take). Here’s what this book isn't. It’s not a slam against publishing (though it is broken) and it’s not a slam against authors (though some of them are crazy). This book is not autobiographical though many of the stories are true. No you won’t know which ones, cause it’s more fun to guess, right? George continues to work in publicity and helps authors because at the end of the day she does love books, she loves publishing, and she loves authors. She hopes you’ll enjoy this romp through Kate’s world as much as she enjoyed creating it.
About the book....
The Forge School is the most prestigious arts school in the country. The secret to its success: every moment of the students' lives is televised as part of the insanely popular Forge Show, and the students' schedule includes twelve hours of induced sleep meant to enhance creativity. But when first year student Rosie Sinclair skips her sleeping pill, she discovers there is something off about Forge. In fact, she suspects that there are sinister things going on deep below the reaches of the cameras. What's worse is, she starts to notice that the edges of her consciousness do not feel quite right. And soon, she unearths the ghastly secret that the Forge School is hiding — and what it truly means to dream there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I must admit, I was intrigued!
Just when I thought I knew exactly who was who, what was what, and where things were heading....BAM!  The author side swiped me with another idea....in the best way possible.

Here we have the story of a young girl given an opportunity to achieve her dreams...with about 50 MILLION (maybe more) people watching her...every...move.  That's not even counting the ones on campus that orchestrate everything....and I do mean EVERYTHING (< - yes, feel free to read that in a sinister tone).  Rosie is a smart girl with a creative eye to become a mogul of the film world should she choose, but she also has integrity, determination, and a desire to do the right thing, even if it means to the detriment of her own self.  All those traits are wonderful, but not in a school that has something to hide (possibly).

What am I vaguely dancing around here?  Well, the sinister goings on at night at the school for starters....I mean just where ARE they taking the cells and for what purpose?  Why do they need them pretty much knocked out in order to do whatever they are doing?  Hmmm...one mystery to solve leads to another and another because as all spiders weave webs, this one is ESPECIALLY sticky because there are SO many players!  Thing is...you don't really know who is playing and who is being real.  I mean, I want to trust Linus because really, who WOULDN'T want to?  But...he DOES work at the school?  How much does he really know versus is pretending to NOT know?  Then there's Burnham who acts like a complete butt one moment, depends entirely too much on the opinion of his brother who isn't even there, and yet still comes through like a knight in slightly shiny armor.  Odd mix?  Yes, but still appealing.  The gal pals she makes at the school all seem genuine enough (interesting split between the way the teens were written...on purpose or just a byproduct of the story?  *ponders*)...those that are simply preening for the cameras are easily spotted while those that really want to perfect their craft, do.

In conclusion, an intriguing start to a trilogy that promises to explore ideas you may not have considered but at the same time seem remarkably possible (Scary!).  I love the precarious role given to Rosie and yet the strength of character she shows.  I love how other characters both side and main surprised me time and again.  I love the sinister twist given to those who genuinely believe they are doing good as well as the conundrum it places the reader in to decide how THEY feel in spite of the events transpiring.  It explores the power of the mind to both provide us with the here and now as well as a world just beyond this plane while showing us that not only are our dreams attainable....they may be a way out.
(Dun dun dunnnnnn....)  So, skip your nightly routine (you know...sleeping) and join the fandom already in progress...

SPECIAL EXCERPT FROM

Ten years ago, one devastating night changed everything for
Austin, Hunter and Alex. Now they must each play their part in
the revenge against the one man who ruined it all.
Read Maisey Yates’s dazzling debut of the Fifth Avenue trilogy:

AVENGE ME

* * *

KATY let out a long breath and started walking back down the
empty corridor, back to the party.
Back toward Jason Treffen.
Talking to him had just about made her lose her mind. It had
taken everything in her not to grab his glass from his hand and
pour it over his head. Then break the glass on his face.
She considered the man as good as her sister’s murderer, so
she was short on charitable feelings where he was concerned.
The door to the ballroom opened, and she froze.
Oh. Her breath left her in a rush, a current of electricity washing
over her skin.
It was him.
The man whose eyes were like an endless black hole, drawing
her in, a force she couldn’t deny or control. When he had looked
at her, she’d felt as if she were grounded to the spot. She’d felt
like he had looked and seen her.
Seen everything. More than that, she’d looked back and she’d
seen him.
Had seen a grief in him. An anger.
It had been, in some ways, like looking into a mirror.
“It’s you,” he said, his voice deep, smooth. Like really good
chocolate. “I was hoping to run into you.”
“Wh-why were you hoping to run into me?” she asked.
“Because you’re the most beautiful woman here. Why wouldn’t
I want to see you?”
“You’re a flirt.”
“That’s the thing, I’m not really.” He put his hands in his pockets,
a wicked half smile curling that sinful mouth.
“I have to get back.”
She started to walk past him and he took her arm, stopped her
progress. She looked up and met cold, dark eyes.
“To who?” he asked, his voice gentle, an opposing force to the
hold he had on her.
There was something about that grip. Commanding. It spoke
to every secret fantasy that lived in the dark shadows inside her.
The parts of herself that had looked at every man she’d even tried
to date and found them lacking.
But not him. He wouldn’t be lacking. Something shivered inside
her, a whisper.
He would know what you wanted.
