Happy BOOK BIRTHDAY to... Something Like Fate by Amy Lea!

Tuesdays bring the GOOD STUFF as far as readers are concerned, and today...is not Tuesday.  Hmm.  No it most certainly is not, HOWEVER, we're still celebrating a BOOK BIRTHDAY! That's right! Newly available TODAY from author Amy Lea (you may know her The Influencer series) via Skyscape is her latest New Adult Romantic Comedy filled with visions of the one, meet cutes, and learning to see what's right in front of you.  Curious?  Well then, let's get a little more involved...

About the book...
For generations, the fortune-telling women in Lo Zhao-Jensen’s family have foreseen The One―the great loves of their lives―before ever meeting them. Except for Lo, who has zero psychic abilities. Just memories of old rom-coms and a lot of poor judgment when it comes to love.

Until now.

When Lo finally has the vision she’s been waiting for, her delighted aunties are convinced she’ll meet The One on her backpacking trip in Italy. Vero amore, here she comes.

Along for the summer is Lo’s best friend and confidant, Teller Owens, her opposite in every way. Upon arrival in Venice, Lo is saved from a runaway trolley by Caleb, a fellow backpacker. It’s a meet-cute so swoony, it has to be fate. But with each destination, Lo’s complicated feelings for Teller are becoming harder to ignore. From the cobblestone streets of Rome to the rocky cliffs of Amalfi, Lo begins to wonder if fate has other plans.

About the author...

Amy Lea was inspired to write SOMETHING LIKE FATE by her passion for Italy’s culture, sights, history, beautiful beaches, and delicious food, and her delight is evident in this vibrant adventure along the windy, ancient roads of the Dolomites to the Amalfi Coast. When Amy is not writing, she can be found fan-girling over other romance books on Instagram, eating potato chips with reckless abandon, and snuggling with her husband and two goldendoodles in Ottawa, Canada.

About the book...
I’ve got ninety-nine problems and my brother’s snarky, smart-mouthed best friend Sam is tangled up in every last one of them.

When it comes to firefighter Sam O’Shea, absence—and a regime of tactical avoidance—has been working for me just fiiiine. But when the audition of a lifetime falls in my pathetically broke lap, and he’s the only one who can help me land the job, I’m willing to make a deal with the devil if it means I can kickstart my career as a narrator for audio books.

The problem? We’d have to actually do the job. Together. And then we’re told it’s for an erotic romance. Narrating steamy lines in a tiny studio with a man who lights a fire under your skin? An occupational hazard. Accidentally inciting a town scandal when your erotic audiobook clips wind up on the radio? A crisis. And falling for the one man I promised my brother—and my heart—I wouldn’t touch?

A disaster—and temptation—I can’t resist.

So, there are so many places to start, my thoughts keep scattering to the wind...but let me see if I can wrangle them into some sort of order.

First, the title...love the playful play on words, and it totally fits the story.  Yes, the novel they end up narrating is more erotica than romance, but their actual story, their dialogue outside the recording closet (not a typo!) is more flirty than downright dirty (whew!).  Second, the characters and the ginormous family surrounding them are absolutely precious!  I know, I know, how can I use THAT word right after the others I just typed seems confusing, and yet, it's so true!  The Bellini's are a force to reckoned with, for better or worse, and those they take into their confidence possess something extraordinary as well.  Whether it be strength of character, honesty, decision making capabilities, or physical attributes, there is something that calls to their overwhelming hearts and makes you one of them.  That's definitely a plus on Sam's side of things...not that he needed many pluses because he's certainly capable of getting those on his own.

I wasn't set to love Sam, but rather loathe him, at first, because HELLO...talk about a history hard to ignore for our leading lady, but once she came around, once the truth came out, once things were spoken that shoulda, coulda, woulda solved things so long ago, I was a big fan.  Sam isn't just looks, though those are certainly not lacking.  He's got a heart of gold, and good intentions to boot, and while some of that gets him into trouble, it's nothing that a little help from his friends can't help him set right...eventually.  As for our gal Piper, I could totally get behind her character's issues, dreams, dilemmas, and inability to say no to her family because she simply cares for them too much.  It's not a bad thing, until it becomes a bad thing, but I digress...it helps shed light on the fact that she shuts down instead of rocking the boat, something that comes in handy when the time is right.  Their friends and family are all memorable in their own ways, from her pain-in-the-you-know-where brother you definitely means well to her goddess of a mother with a brood big enough to make the lady in the how jealous...there's nary a one you won't come away feeling better having met.  Now on to that story...

It was definitely a his dream versus her dream plot that had all these monkey wrenches flying in to tear of the works.  Trust me, they DO tear up things something fierce, I mean billboards and radio spots taking aim at your "day job" while insinuating bad moral choices would do that to anyone, and yet through it all, it solidifies what each of them has found.  It shakes things up, but makes it clearer to both parties just what is most important.  I've never thought about the career of a voice actor, and while reading a story such as they encounter on your own is one thing, having to read it with someone else while playing those parts...OMG!  How in the hey-day do they do it?!  I get it, it's just a job, but whew...this story would have been enough to combust an audio track at times...I'm not certain I want to know how the story within the story would have turned out!

In the end, it definitely turns up the heat, but the heart of the story brings it all home.

RRR presents... ESCAPING DEMONS by Killian Wolf - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we've got another Rachel's Random Resources tour coming your way and with a title that'll definitely get you in the mood for the upcoming reading season.  Thing about it is, I had a SERIOUS case of deja vu when I started reading it. I couldn't quite put my finger on it at first.  I was thinking maybe I saw somethin similar on 'Supernatural' or maybe it's just similar to another reaper book I've read ...not that I've read THAT many with them as main characters.  At one point, I was seriously thinking something else entirely unpleasant so I did a little digging and...TADA!  Mystery solved.  Wanna know how it all panned out?  Great...READ ON!  *giggle*

About the book...
One phone call landed me the perfect job. Too bad it didn’t come with life insurance.

I didn’t think this job would be anything special. Sure, the first phone call was weird, and yeah, maybe it wasn’t the smartest idea to come to someone’s house before I met them in person, but Dax seemed nice. All he wanted was a caretaker for his sick father.

Oh, and an exorcist for the spirits haunting his family’s estate. Now he’s left me alone with his father, and the ghosts know my name. Caring for an old man with dementia, I can do. Fighting evil spirits? That’s way above my pay grade.

But Dax has disappeared so I have to learn on my own or both Orlando and I might not live to see tomorrow...

So, what's with the deja vu?  Well...
...I was surprised it took me so long to catch it actually...
...because an author name like that isn't very common.

I dug around in my GoodReads lists and my review history notes only to discover that YES, I had indeed read another work by this author...but it was in fact THIS work, under a different title (The Haunting at Paradise House).  You have NO IDEA how relieved I was!  No, really...I thought I was losing my reading mind...but anywho, now that the mystery was solved...I did indeed read this edition to see if things were as I remembered.  My results?  Yep...most definitely, but in the best ways possible!

It's creepy, spooky, spine tingling, mysterious, and all the other adjectives you can throw at a New Adult title that you just want to pick up and read from virtual cover to cover.  You can't help but wonder why Addison would take a job under such strange circumstances and with so many hair raising moments to stop you cold...but later on, we discover a bit of the reasons why and they weren't really in her control.  The sparks felt between her and Ambrose were certainly awkward to say the least, but that sorta goes with the whole "I'm-not-exactly-human" territory, right?  The curious events that seem to plague our girl from day one on the job are just frightening enough to make the suggestion of leaving a light on a little less far fetched (creepy room of dolls in a spooky mansion, anyone?).  The job she was hired for, at least on the surface, made sense with her background, but the care she takes and the trials she must go through to actually keep him in health go WAY above and beyond the call of normal duty.  It all eventually climaxes with what we perceive to be a showdown...but as with most things we've been exposed to along the way, I wouldn't take it at face value.  Just saying...

All in all, an enjoyable reading escape with much promise and potential for further installments to come!  If you're a YA lit fan who loves his/her reading with a paranormal twist, this might just be the perfect fit for you!
