RRR presents... WHEN POLLY MET OLLY by Zoe May - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for TWICE the fun as we host yet another of her fabulous tours (seriously, if you're an author/publisher/blogger and haven't checked her out yet, you're missing out!).  This time around it's a Contemporary Romance that's a match made in heaven!  It definitely "gets" today's dating scene, but with a bit of a twist.  Curious?  Great!  Now, let's get to it.  Today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest is...

Why Polly Met Olly
by
Zoe May
HQ Digital

About the book...
Polly and Olly were never supposed to meet…

Polly might spend her days searching for eligible matches for her elite list of clients at her New York dating agency, but her own love life is starting to go up in smoke.

Even worse, she can’t stop thinking about the very person she’s meant to be setting her latest client up with… surely it can’t get any worse!

But then Polly bumps into oh-so-handsome Olly, who heads up a rival agency, and realizes that perhaps all really is fair in love and dating war…

Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Debbie Viggiano.

This story was rather fun in so many unexpected ways!

Polly was a struggling photographer.  Having graduated from college and chasing her dream, she still hadn't hooked her professional HEA...so what better way to make a living in the mean time then by helping others find theirs?  Enter, Polly the Matchmaker!  Grant it, she was successful in her own personal life, but she definitely seemed to hit her stride when she was pretending to be someone else.  There was a certain about of moral questions brought up regarding her temporary profession, but I mean really...I bet that's how it's done for the higher ups nowadays!  I wouldn't know, never tried an agency, or even online for that matter, but with the real world tie-ins to Tinder, and good old social media, young adult to middle-age-ish folks will feel right at home, while laughing their bums off at some of the antics that follow.  Anywho, back on track...

So as much as Polly was my girl, I gotta say...I liked Olly.  Even when he was being his slick, charismatic, check box checking self, I liked him.  There was something there that felt genuine and non-scripted.  Of course, I may have been reading more into the situations/character than intended (or not, considering the ending!), but I didn't think he was a too good to be true type person...only a person that had been through some changes, perhaps wasn't taken for more than his "pretty face", and needing a chance at something real himself.  When the tentative sparks flew, I was totally on-board...and then when the fizzle began, I was begging Polly to investigate further, not jump to conclusions, and simply give him a chance.  Totally unlike me, but...there you have it.

In the end, it was a sweet, funny, romance in the making, starring a few cupid wannabees, that while making it happen for others, needed to learn a thing or two about love themselves.  It definitely provided an entertaining story with all the feels, so "swipe right" on this one for your future reading list!

RRR presents... THE WORD-KEEPER by Veronica Del Valle - REVIEW!

Hello, hello!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're got not one but TWO tours with Rachel's Random Resources stopping by, so once you're done reading about the title featured in this post, prepare for the next to follow suit!  Anywho, two tours with the same group...YES!  Same type of books...NOPE!  This time around, we're got a Middle Grade Fantasy that mixes a bit of Fairy-tale magic into the mix to create a unique story all about the power, the beauty, and responsibility of WORDS.  Ready or not, here comes today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...

The Word-Keeper
by
Veronica Del Valle

About the book...
What would happen if words disappeared forever?

Set in a whimsical town called Inkwell, a place with an ancient secret history, this fairytale-like adventure will uncover the key to the power hidden within words.

The Word-Keeper is a tale about a savvy bookmark named Ben that unwillingly becomes an evil imp with only one objective: follow the orders of his master and destroy the words that live inside books.

Only one girl can stop him. Her name is Florence Ibbot. She is eleven years old, oddly eloquent and a quiet observer of the world. But above all, Florence is a keen logophile and is willing to sacrifice everything to protect the words.

She sets out to discover who is behind all this. The journey will take her to the origins of writing and inspiration. But she’ll also have to face the most treacherous adversary, Zyler, a ruthless sorceress whose sole mission is to ruin one of humankind’s most precious possessions: the gift of language.

As the final battle approaches, Florence will have to learn how to wield words instead of the sword. Is Florence brave enough to become who she was born to be?

A young girl misunderstood by her classmates.  A holiday vacation that couldn't come soon enough.  Mysterious towns, magic bookmarks, long kept secrets, a destiny unknown, and the possibility of a tomorrow without the best words of all...yes, my friends, you've found the right story to sink your teeth into and with a healthy dose of imagination, you won't soon forget it either!

Florence is certainly a one of a kind leading lady, but so is this story, so one befits the other.  I found her strong of heart with an iron will, despite the unknown weighing heavily upon her.  The magic she unknowingly poured into a little bookmark simply goes to show the depths to which she feels, knows, and loves.  The responsibility she felt for not only the townspeople, but ALL the words in general, revealed her caring nature and proved that the genies of old knew a thing or two about who they were leaving the fate of the written word to.  When dark times struck, she didn't run away, merely investigated to try and solve a seemingly unsolvable problem, and provide a solution to which she could leads the others.  She may not have felt herself to be a born leader, or rightful bearer of the power of words, but with a good place keeper by her side, and a town (or two!) full of people that believe, there's nothing she can't do.

So, if you're in the mood for a magical tale that celebrates the power of words to change others, mold situations, stimulate innovation, and just plain rule the day, this adventure is definitely for you!

RRR presents... THE COTTAGE ON WILDFLOWER LANE by Liz Davies - REVIEW!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're joining Rachel's Random Resources for a stop along their current promotion featuring the latest release from author Liz Davies.  It's a wonderfully titled novel with a cover that will have you dreaming of Spring and a story that will warm your heart.  Ladies and gents, today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice is...

The Cottage on Wildflower Lane
by
Liz Davies

About the book...
Esther's life isn’t perfect (whose is?) – but she’s happy enough living in her little flat with her boyfriend, Josh.

 But that’s about to change.

Bored out of her mind in work, she wishes that something, anything, would happen to liven her life up.

Unfortunately, her wish comes true when Josh calls her from the airport to tell her he’s going to work in a bar in Spain, and she’s not invited, Esther is devastated, and her unhappiness is compounded when she discovers she can actually view the bar via a webcam link and watch him chatting up other girls.

But when she inadvertently clicks on a link to another webcam which shows a pretty cottage and the rather hunky man who lives in it, her interest is piqued and she wishes she could get to know him.

Wishes don’t really come true, though – do they...?

First, let's just take another look at that cover because honestly, it's heavenly and really puts you in the right frame of mind for the cottage we eventually encounter.  Now, more about that eventually...

The story is split between two viewpoints...that of Esther, and that of Kit.  Honestly, I was SO MUCH closer with Esther's story, I was having a very hard time initially connecting with Kit.  I think because his chapters were so few and far between with seemingly no connection to Esther at all...at least, until there was a tenuous thread spun, a tiny seed of potential planted, and the rains of change started pouring down making what lay mostly dormant, truly blossom.  Now don't go getting all googoo eyed and sighing because there are more chances to laugh, more chances to feel bad for, and more chances to cross your fingers at, than there are moments to swoon.  After all, Esther is dealing with the a**hat ex boyfriend, or rather NOT dealing with him and yet refuses to fully cut the connection, and Kit has his own set of issues he's dealing with, so no one is really in a place to seek true romance...at least yet...and as the heart wants what it wants, eventually they just might make it to the same place at the same time emotionally AND physically.

So, in short, an interesting novel with heart that has a meet cute you definitely haven't seen, and a HEA that may seem a step off center, but totally works.  It will also seriously have you wondering just what "big brother"-esque avenues you travel in your daily life...but I mean, really...if that's all someone has to look forward to in their daily life, though not inviting the attention, I suppose I feel sorrier for them than anything else.  The message...love waits for no one, nor does life, so get out there and live it!

About the author...

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.

She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat - she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.

She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
