Ellie-May and Her Toy Dragon, Ben
by
Genna Rowbotham

About the book...

Feeling so excited for a new day ahead, Ellie-May struggles to sleep. So when her toy dragon, Ben grows into a real-life dragon, they take to the starry skies and embark on a night-time adventure together, where they visit Ben’s castle and enjoy a dragon party.

But as the sun begins to rise and the stars fade, will Ellie-May be able to stay awake?

This was a charming picture book filled with the power of imagination, and the importance of a good night's sleep!

Ellie Mae is a sweetheart, but her excitement is getting the best of her.  You remember those days, right?  You couldn't wait for the sun to rise, the clock to tick over, so you could get the next best day of your life started.  When did all that change?  Probably somewhere along the way in our run run run sort of world, but I digress...Ellie Mae brings that spark of enthusiasm back, and reminds readers all the promises that tomorrow can bring without ever saying a word.  All that energy is not conducive to a restful night, and we ALL know what happens when we don't get enough sleep, so it has to go SOMEWHERE, and what better place than a magical land reached only by a dragon's wings, where bedtime is just a memory, and FUN time is now.  I mean, it sounds like a good time, and certainly looked like it in the colorful illustrations, but even great fun cannot replace that urgent downtime because eventually, our internal batteries run down, leaving us in less than optimal condition for the day we were so eagerly anticipating.  Thank goodness little Ellie Mae had such a wonderful friend in Ben because as happy as he was to have her share his adventure, he was just as happy to see her home to her own bed.

A great bedtime story for youngsters that are clearly not tired *YAWN* at all *YAWN* and certainly aren't *YAWN* ready for bed.  *Zzzzzzzzzzzzz*
