RRR presents... An Un Romantic Comedy by Phoebe MacLeod - REVIEW!

Oh my goodness, I SO needed a read like this!  I just, ugh...I'm going to get into it because I don't want to color this post in any direction but the best way possible, but rest assured this dose of laughter, human struggles, reassurances, and love is just what the doctor ordered!  I've read this author's work before and remembered it fondly, so when this one came around on a Rachel's Random Resources tour, I knew I had to take part!  Ladies and gents, let's get between the pages of today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...

An Un Romantic Comedy
by
Phobe MacLeod

About the book...
The course of true love never did run smooth, but with Phoebe MacLeod it always gets a chance. Perfect for fans of Jo Watson, Mhairi McFarlane and Portia MacIntosh.

The black sheep is coming home for her sister’s wedding.

One week with the whole family in one house.

What could possibly go wrong?

Poppy is a therapist. You’d think her parents would be proud. But Poppy is the type of therapist that makes her mother cringe - she helps people with their, ahem, bedroom problems…

Normally Poppy deals with her difficult family - two parents, one brother, a couple sisters and an assortment of nieces and nephews - by keeping a county or two between her and them. But with her little sister about to get married there’s no avoiding the week-long family holiday in Cornwall.

The trip was always going to be a catastrophe, but Poppy never imagined how much her family needed her professional skills… Nor did she expect to meet a sexy surfer on what was supposed to be the most unromantic holiday ever.

Can a nightmare holiday lead to the love of a lifetime?

I really had a lot of fun with this one!

From the awkward meet cute (because everyone assumes the hot surfer guy hitting on you only wants to get in your wet suit without proper provocation) to the potentially happy-NEVER-after (don't ask, JUST READ!), there were miles and miles between the epages that I traveled with a happy smile on my face.

Poppy wasn't a problem child (now woman); she just knew at a rather young age that she wanted to learn more about certain things. Things that it's not always seen as "right" for a woman to know, have control over, have researched, or maybe even a degree in. She's a sex therapist, and despite what some people think the role might be (TOO FUNNY even though it caused some major divisions), it's actually more about getting down to the nitty gritty of the emotional problems/issues behind the ways it is manifesting. Though a small set of readers may shy away from the conversations Poppy has with a few clients and, eventually, family members (again, don't ask...just know that they are truly eye opening and helpful, and just read the book!), I found them tastefully done, entertaining, AND educational.

That being said, it wasn't all about THAT (LOL!). It had a huge amount to do with familial relationships, potential romantic connections, bridemaid-zillas (OMG the nerve of that girl!), the importance of being true to yourself and allowing others to see that truth. We all know the ones worth knowing, the ones worth keeping, the ones worth calling family, friend, or partner will take us just as we are...it may be hard to remember at times, but it shouldn't send us into a talespin to conform to someone else's idea of us. In the end, we'd just end up unhappy which would rub off on those around us, and the ripple effect goes on and on. So, come for the romantic potential, stay for the hard talks and education, and leave with a smile on your face and hearts in your eyes because I SO TOTALLY CALLED THAT ENDING!

Its great when you find such a book. In need of something the doctor ordered myself, I rather like the sound of this.
