Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today, we're spreading some pre book birthday BUZZ about a NEW Picture Book title coming to you NEXT WEEK via Two Lions! It's a beautiful story about a young girl, her family, and her culture that truly SHINES. Let's take a closer like at today's book of choice...

Namita Moolani Mehra
Illustrated by
Kamala Nair
Two Lions
Release Date: September 26th, 2023

This GORGEOUSLY illustrated story tells the tale of young Diya 🪔 and her trip to India to celebrate Diwali with her family, but especially her grandma Nani. The two of them share a special bond that's withstood the distance that normally separates them, making this coming together all the more memorable. The lights, the colors, the friends, and food, all go into making this time the celebration that it truly is... but her time with Nani is something she treasures most. She has such a wonderful time that the weeks pass too quickly, leaving her in a quandary as to how life will be when they have to leave once again... leave it to grandma to know just what to say to make everything okay.

This was such a charming book from start to finish. The illustrations are beyond beautiful as they radiate right off the page, emitting their own glow despite having no actual power source or reflective material used. No, it seems the illustrator managed to infuse that light of which the story speaks right into the colors we see so that it is that much more vivid, that much easier to relate what Diya learns to our own lives. Along the way, we not only experience the love between a grandma and her granddaughter, but the vibrancy of a culture and the celebrations that exist within it, plus the importance of carrying those traditions into future generations.

Come for the beauty, stay for the story, and walk away with a broadened world view with messages that can speak to any heart.
