AWARENESS TOUR: Sylvia Locke's Cinderella and the Evil Fairy Godmother by David Horn, Illustrated by Judit Tondora - REVIEW + GIVEAWAY!

Once upon a time, there was a blog, and the blogger behind same said blog enjoyed bringing great reads to those in her readerdom.  That blog is this site, and the blogger is myself...happy to meet you!  Our second tour of the day is coming in hot like the faked report cards that Sylvia constructs to enable her plans to proceed.  That's right.  It's AWARENESS TOUR time with The Children's Book Review, and we're getting our twisted fairytale on as Cinderella takes on another look that's still decidedly fun!  Ready or not, here comes today's ebook of choice and blog tour guest...

About the book...
Fairytale Land’s baddest girl is about to head to a prince’s ball. A modern, twisted retelling of Cinderella.

Once upon a time in Fairytale Land, there lived Sylvia Locke—the baddest girl around. So bad that her grandparents have shipped her off to live with her uptight Aunt Marjorie and two goody-two-shoes step-cousins. When an invitation to the prince’s ball arrives, Sylvia is determined to attend at any cost, even if it means enlisting the help of an evil fairy godmother (against Fairytale Land laws, but has that ever stopped her?). Along this chaotic quest, Sylvia stumbles into some unexpectedly imperfect friends. But will she also learn to appreciate those who truly care for her?

The second book in the Tairy Fails series of modern, twisted retelling that puts a hilarious, rebellious, new spin on the classic fairy tales. Perfect for elementary school kids and early chapter book readers.

Middle Grade readers rejoice! Sylvia Locke is at it again, and this time the trouble she's getting into (*cough* causing *cough*) is all done up Cinderella style.  She's been sent to live with extended family to try to teach her some manners, and goodness...things she's not exactly picking up.  When that fated invitation comes for the prince's ball, she's determined to not only go, but be the belle of it all...just her way, hence the evil fairy godmother enlisted.  Hey, she's done her own misdeeds in the past, including the current story and those poor step-cousins that thought they were failing their classes all of a sudden, so getting someone else to up the power behind the intentions wasn't that much of a stretch.  What she didn't count on was driving away at midnight in a Merkury Sable formerly known as a bicycle, and trying to escape the revelation of what her shimmery tracksuit was just a few hours before.  Yes, things get quite sticky in a hurry, but if there's one thing you can count on, it's Sylvia getting out of a jam in the least likely means possible.

By book's end, the prince has seen the light, Sylvia has some new friends in high places, and Farmington is getting another chance, along with Gram Gram and Gramps.  It turns out that happily ever afters come in all shapes and sizes...even ones befitting a Fairytale Land resident with a tendency towards badness.  If you like your fairytales with a bit of a twist, you've found the right series for you!
