RRR presents... THE SUMMER OF GOING TOPLESS by Liz Davies - REVIEW!

HI there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Today's post may cause you to have a case of deja vu...or at least those of you that frequent my site.  Yes, you have seen this title here before.  Yes, it was with the same tour group....Rachel's Random Resources (woot woot!).  Yes, the cover is JUST AS FABULOUS as when we featured it the first time around...but today's post takes you BEYOND the visual and into the story because we're diving between the pages for a review!  So, if you're ready, let's take this puppy for a spin as we welcome today's blog tour guest and ebook of choice...

Liz Davies

About the book...
Candice Summerville is invisible. No one seems to notice her - not really. Heck, she often doesn’t notice herself, except for her monthly scrutiny in the mirror to check on her body’s steady slide towards middle age.

But when her ancient, practical estate car is consigned to the scrap heap, Candice falls in love with a cute, purple convertible, and from that moment on her life begins to take on a whole new meaning. Strangers wave at her and people stop to talk, and suddenly she isn’t invisible any longer.

Life seems to be looking up, especially when she meets silver fox and handy-man, Paul. There’s just one fly in the ointment, one thing she that has her second-guessing herself.

Is it the car that Paul sees - or is it her?

In a nutshell...
...a (barely) middle-aged woman learns to live, love, and laugh again...
...all thanks to a brightly colored, button cute automobile...
...or is it?

Honestly, I was all on board with this one.  From the beginning with the wobbly bit discussion straight through to the oh-so-good-despite-the-circumstances ending, Candice and I were like THAT.  No, I'm not her age, which for some people really jangles their bells especially in Chick-Lit type novels (what...like they're only for the younger set?), but you can't tell me there's not a woman out there that hasn't had self-doubt, a passing (or not so passing) curiosity about WHAT IF, the desire for reinvention, and the unexpected discovery of love when it was least expected...perhaps it was even YOU?  They are LIFE concepts, and the fact that our book loving leading lady has had some life experience under her belt, only made the happiness she found in everything "new" that much sweeter...at least for this reader.

So yes, I was rooting for Candice all the way as she was bolstered by the new attention, found her way through the makeover jungle (and it did get a little "hairy" and costly!), and welcomed the changes in her life that SHE wanted for herself, and no one else.  When love seemed to be on the table again, my heart sang for her, or rather them...and when grasses were no longer viewed as green enough, I couldn't help myself from humming the old school En Vogue song "Never Gonna Get It" WITH RELISH!  There's happiness and sadness, times of triumph and confusion, but you know what...that's life...and Candice does a rather fine job of finding not only her own way through it, but herself, once again.

A great add to your end of summer reading list for Chick-Lit and Women's Fiction fans alike!

About the author...

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.

She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat - she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.

She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
