RB Listening Circle: #RESORT CRUSH by Samantha Chase, Published by Dreamscape - REVIEW!

Hi readers!
Time for another bookish escape, and today's selection is a digital Audiobook that felt like the perfect summer escape...

#Resort Crush
Lakeview Harbor Resort, Book 4
by
Publisher: Dreamscape Media

About the book...

A small town, opposites attract, workplace romance from NY Times Best Selling Author Samantha Chase.

He lives by schedules, spreadsheet and always knowing what’s next.
She lives for trails, takeoffs, and the thrill of what comes next.

Nora Wilder is always looking for her next thrill, so when she lands a job as an adventure guide at the Lakeview Harbor Resort, it finally feels like she’s found a place where she belongs. Except what seemed like a dream job quickly goes south after a series of run-ins with one of the resort’s owners threatens the future she’s building.

Investing in the resort where he met his closest friends made perfect sense to Milo Keene. But for someone who lives for spreadsheets, participating in any of the resort’s outdoor activities is more than a little outside his comfort zone. And that’s not even counting the resort’s newest adventure guide who seems determined to terrorize him.

Milo’s survival instincts are screaming at him to stay away from Nora. But when she unexpectedly comes to his rescue—and Milo admits that he maybe, possibly has feelings for her—what started as a crush might turn into the adventure neither saw coming.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Opposites attract INDEED in this FUN-tabulous read from author Samantha Chase. I got a chance to listen to it via my participation in the RB Listening Circle (thank you RB Media Team!), and let me tell you it was a BLAST!
The narrator puts you right there in the moment with all the feels, all the miscommunication, all the anticipation (*wink wink*), and all the best yet to come moments that the author created. You feel like you're dancing on air from chapter to chapter because you're right on point; there's never a question as to whom is speaking, nor chance of getting lost in the story. I loved Nora and Milo equally, even when their start was more than a little rocky. Seriously, between the drone incident, the water ski washout, and the dunk in the lake...I didn't know whether to gasp or giggle! It was too much, but only in the best ways possible, and it only went up from there.
All in all, a GREAT STORY with WONDERFUL CHARACTERS, and enough heart to carry you through. I'm definitely gonna have to check out more of the series, but it read perfectly well on its own as well, so don't be afraid to take the plunge!
Special thanks to the RB Media team for the audiobook to listen and share with you. (THANKS!) For more information, click on through the links above, and be sure to snag your copy to experience it for yourself!
WHAT'S THE BUZZ?: Romance Edition 💗
Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.
Today, we're answering the bookish cry of WHAT'S THE BUZZ with a special ROMANCE EDITION.  That's right!  Who doesn't love a good romance?  Am I right?  The titles on the docket today are spread throughout the genre that quite literally has something for everyone.  A few have been released, while a few others are coming up fast, but one other thing they all have in common...I would highly recommend them all!  Ready to add to your TBR?  Here we go!
Townsend Harbor, Book 3
by
Kerrigan Byrne & Cynthia St. Aubin
Release Date:  08/29/23
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
As much as I've enjoyed getting to know this series, I can honestly say that I think THIS ONE was my favorite thus far!  Grant it in book one, we have a bookstore owner getting it on (eventually) with a mysterious recluse that seems to have nothing but her best interests in mind, and yes, they make a damaged (who isn't?), yet mind blowing couple...all making it memorable for certain.  Book two gave us the story of the newcomer in town selling hot double cups of...joe with a side of snappy sarcasm, whit, and wonder, all while equally ticking off and intriguing the local man with a badge that was recently made single (after book one!), until hot under the collar becomes more hot, and sans collar (and then some!), granting us an unexpected couple, but a great fit all the same.  Now, book three, we have opposites attract with the story of the best friend meeting the less than blue collar man of her never dreamed dreams...and while he may be a lot to handle, so is she, in her own way, and remarkably they GET one another...not just get it on.  The layers that are peeled back on each of them, revealing how much more they BOTH are despite the way they get pigeonholed by people, really speaks to embracing your true self, learning to love you first, and not being afraid of letting someone in, nor letting them back out again!  It's just as hot as the others, but it didn't feel like quite as much focus was on ONLY that, giving me more of the story aspect that I love and adore!
Melissa Ferguson
Narrated by: Talon David, Kayla Jackson
Release Date:  09/26/23
In this double novella from Thomas Nelson, you get two GORGEOUS Christmas stories in one fabulous package...or in this case, audio book!  That's right!  I listened to this one through NetGalley (did you know that was a thing?!), and quite honestly fell in love with it!  As opposed to the prior novel featured, this one is squeaky clean, but that doesn't mean there aren't moments of sparkage, moments of closeness, or moments that will make you wear a silly grin and sigh (yes, I totally did this!).  Dashing Through the Snow .... gives us a woman on the romantic holiday trip of a lifetime, having to go it solo thanks to her now ex-boyfriend pulling the plug on the most wonderful time of the year.  Willow seizes the day, thanks to her pushy but loving friend, and not only revels in the spirit of the season, but finds that while her heart may be wounded, it doesn't mean she won't love again...perhaps sooner than she thinks!  Pining for You... delivers the story of Skye and Theo which takes place on a Christmas tree farm.  Old wounds are healed, recreated, and potentially healed once again, but a lot of old truths are brought into a clarifying light, allowing these two matched at heart to find a start in the here and now.  Of the two, I gotta play favorites with the first, but I have no regrets in listening to the second.
Beachside Kisses with My Bodyguard
Hallmark Beach Small Town Romance, Book 1
by
Release Date:  10/11/23
Alright guys and gals, so we're back on track with this one where I'm getting the scoop out to you before the release (woo hoo!).  This time, we're heading to Hallmark Beach as we read and share the first novel in the new series...much love to the author for the chance to be a part of the ARC team!  I loved the setting.  I loved the characters.  I loved how the Princess was so much more than just royalty, even when many kept trying to label her for past mistakes.  I loved that she was eventually able to put that behind her, and discover what she truly wanted in both love and life so that following her dreams was simply the next most logical step, even if she did have to sort out exactly what they were in order to take that step.  I loved our fearless Muscles (obvious nickname, but cute nonetheless!), and his noble desire to keep HIS desire off the table, and under lock and key.  The back and forth between them was a little torture, but sweet and as it eventually leads to a HEA that we readers love with all our hearts; it was totally worth it.  The other story line running through it, regarding her brother's "normal" wedding, was a spectacular way to keep things moving along, build a little tension, and also capitalize on creating a memorable setting with notable side characters that (if rumors are true) will be getting their own stories in the future!
Perfect Imperfections
🔥🔥🔥
Last, but certainly not least, we have the forthcoming release from an author whose work I've read several times, and the love for those stories just keeps growing!  This particular title is near and dear to the author's heart because it features a character with OCD. You may know what it is, heck you might even have it or know someone who does, but a few important things to remember...it varies from person to person, the compulsions or rituals they perform are specific to them and not something that can simply be turned off, and a person with OCD is just that a PERSON with ocd...they are not their diagnosis; they are themselves.  Unique, original, and with their own idiosyncrasies, just like the next person.  No one is exactly the same as the next, but all deserve love, kindness, and acceptance.  In this story, the characters are true to themselves.  There are no magical turn of events that solves their problems.  There are no potions or amount of attention that removes their symptoms, or diagnosis...and that is SIMPLY PERFECT.
I adored Ellie for everything she did, and everything she was.  From her problems to her solutions, her witty wardrobe (so would wear those shirts!) to her care of others, the way she interacted with the animals to how she handles Sullivan...and now I'm getting off track.  (LOL!)  There is not a moment that I felt a disconnect from her character, or a falsity in her personality.  She was simply her, and eventually learns to love that even more about herself.  Sullivan was a perfectly imperfect specimen of a man that most woman and their mother's would go gaga for..but for me, though his outer beauty can't be denied, his inner beauty is a real heart breaker.  He adores his little girl (who wouldn't?  Charlotte is a doll!), cares for all of his patients beyond the clinical aspect of medicine, takes the white coat off at home but leaves the amount of care and understanding that he has remains because it's simple him.  Watching these two come together was PURE MAGIC.  I laughed, I gasped, I blushed, and grinned like a lovelorn schoolgirl, and by book's end the HEA was in the bag!
Book REVIEW Spotlight on... ROMCOMS!
We all need a little bit of laughter in our lives (*Can I get an AMEN?!*), and today's BOOK REVIEW SPOTLIGHT is bringing the laughter, the tears (of joy!), the smiles, the sorrows (misunderstandings that work out!), and ultimately bookish enjoyment through and through.  So, if you're ready to add to your SUMMER READING list, let's get this party started!
Precio Brothers, Book 2
by
Gigi Blume
AUDIOBOOK
About the book...
I have a secret bigger than my restaurant's burrito grande.
IGNACIO
That woman everyone saw me fake kissing is not my girlfriend. Somehow, a small favor turns into a recipe for disaster and the only way to fix it is to add a little spice, let it simmer, and serve it hot. We might be cooking up a fake relationship, but even pretend kissing Olive is muy delicioso.
OLIVE
You know your massive crush on your boss is getting out of hand when you enthusiastically volunteer to be his fake girlfriend. Yup. That’s what I did. But only because his grandma caught us stirring up some salsa, if you know what I mean. Is it my fault he’s hotter than sizzling fajitas? I’m talking super caliente, my friend.
Now we’re deep in this ruse and those fake kisses are starting to feel all too real.
I need to remember that Nacho is not my boyfriend before I get burned.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Alright guys, so this one I LISTENED to.  Yup, that's right.  LISTENED, as in Audiobook edition, and let me tell you, while I had a little case of deja vu at the start (the voice actors are the same ones that narrated the FIRST audiobook in this series, which I also listened to), once I placed them in their new "roles", I was hooked!
How can you NOT like a hottie with a good heart like "Nacho"?  How can you not like an accident prone sweetheart with a heart of gold like Olive?  I mean really, you've checked your own pulse recently, right?  It's still clocking a steady beat, pumping the blood around your person and through that muscle that we all associate with love...the heart?  Okay, good...then once you have a listen (OR a read!), you'll totally know where I'm coming from with my love for this series!  The characters are relatable, the meet-cutes memorable (fake kissing in the drive to show an old flame just what they're missing, anyone?), the moments that take your breath away remarkable, the laugher contagious, and the overall effect just what the romcom doctor ordered!  It's not a story you'll want to put down, and it's definitely one that's hard to stop listening to, for all the right reasons...I did most of it while mowing the lawn, and it made the time FLY BY despite sweating bullets!  😅
So, if you like stories with the fake relationship trope that go from fake to not to fake again to something else altogether that you simply have to read (or listen) to, this is the one for you!
About the book...
Bryce Barrett has disappeared off the face of the earth. Well, technically she’s just temporarily hiding out in a teeny Midwest town, away from her ruined marriage and professional demise…at least until she can figure out her next steps. But when she bumps into her ex—dressed in what could be only described as “dumpster chic”—she does the only reasonable thing a woman can do: panics and pretends the cute security guard on the scene is her new boyfriend.
Free-spirited nomad Jake Warner knew returning to his hometown was a bad idea. It’s bad enough that his family’s pressuring him to step into his dad’s hypercompetitive shoes and settle down, but when a complete stranger (cute, though possibly unbalanced) enlists him as her fake boyfriend, Jake knows he’s making some questionable choices…especially when he inexplicably goes along with it.
Now these two mismatched misfits are temporary allies against a town filled with happy, normal, and annoyingly stable people. Fake dating keeps everyone off their back while they plot their respective escapes. But nothing botches a plan more than unexpected chemistry…
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Okay, I gotta be honest here guys, I didn't not love this one, but I didn't love it either.  Let me explain....
In the beginning, I was getting way too much deja vu...curious how I mentioned that same thing in my first review, but this one is of another sort.  I could have sworn I read an opening sequence, or setup, very similar to the way this one starts out with our girl needing a break from life because it generally sucked, and being caught up in an apparently somewhat indecent ice cream eating scene on the streets of her new temporary home sweet home.  Did I really?  Yes...because I hadn't read that other title so long ago, but they weren't exactly the same, and had I not already read one similar, I wouldn't have been as perplexed, merely entertained by the whole fiasco, but I digress.
The story moves forward with two hearts seeking places, times, and people other than that which is in their current surroundings.  A fake relationship later, and while the heat is off them for the moment from others, it doesn't help their future plans when they actually start catching feelings.  There's definitely more than enough sparks for them to develop into something more than a passing fancy, and there's a ton of heart that goes along with all the family drama they are each dealing with.
So if you're in the mood for snark, humor, and potentially a bit of romance, take your shot at this reading escape, and see if you don't fall under its spell!
If you're like me, you're run off your feet. Between work, home, and life in general, you've got all you can do to get things checked off your to-do list, and maybe snatch a little time for yourself...am I right? No worries, we're sharing the boat, but one thing I've discovered this year more than those past, I'm loving me some audiobooks! Okay, so the ignore the bad grammar there, it was purely for show, but SERIOUSLY! The right story isn't hard to find because let's face it, there are SO MANY on my TBR that it rivals Santa's infamous list, but when it comes to audiobooks, the right narrator is a subject I am hard pressed to put to rest...and the title in the review spotlight today hits the mark dead center!
Ladies and gents, join me as we welcome Rachel's Random Resources and today's blog tour guest/title of choice...
Somebody Like You
Donna Alward
Aiden's now one of Darling's Finest, but the memory of how he hurt Laurel back in high school has stuck to his conscience. Helping her get back on her feet is the least he can do to make it up to her. And as time goes on, he realizes how much he cares for the woman she's become: strong, resilient, and compassionate.
Laurel's willing to forgive Aiden's past transgressions, and before long it's clear the old attraction between them still sizzles. Ever accommodating, Laurel has kept things amicable, but attending the wedding has all her resentments and disappointments bubbling to the surface. Aiden tries to be supportive, but what Laurel needs most is to stand on her own two feet, and she pushes Aiden away.
When their friend George meets with trouble, Laurel and Aiden must work together to get him back on his feet. Is this the opportunity for them to salvage their relationship, or is it goodbye for good?
What's that?
Oh, that's my luggage.
What am I doing?
Packing my bags for Darling, Vermont...
...and if you take a chance on this story, I bet you'll be joining me soon!
Seriously guys, this one is a total knockout from start to finish.  We have the second chance romance aspect combined with a little bit of frenemies to lovers to satisfy trope readers, but for those that need a little something more than the romance, there's the common goal part of the story to help George (he's a homeless man in town that's really no bother at all, but definitely needs a helping hand, and maybe a way out!).  If you heart doesn't melt from one topic, it will from the others, not to mention "the moments".  Oh, you know the ones...where they get caught up in memory lane and have to push the thoughts causing their shared blush away, or when a moment of close conversation becomes a little too close, or when an offer of help turns into an impromptu water fight slash wet T-shirt contest with Aiden as the contestant...*sigh*...wait, where was I going with this?  Oh, yes...
The story holds oodles of sweetness from the town's marketing photo of old and kissing bridge to the way they care for each other while still managing to step on toes since everyone knows everyone's business, the injustice of their past to the potential for a shared future (maybe...possibly...stay tuned), the relationships they hold close and those they need help severing more completely.  There's a helping hand somewhere, a shoulder to cry on at the ready, and a six-pack of manliness with a smirky smile and heart of gold that would pair really well with our leading lady who is a natural beauty on the outside, but even more so on the inside.
Come for the story, stay for the connections, and thoroughly enjoy being "read" to once again with a narrator that really makes things come to life, infusing the emotions from the text right into your ears,  making it a memorable and enjoyable experience!
About the author...
While bestselling author Donna Alward was busy studying Austen, Eliot and Shakespeare, she was also losing herself in the breathtaking stories created by romance novelists like LaVyrle Spencer and Judith McNaught. Several years after completing her degree she decided to write a romance of her own and it was true love! Five years and ten manuscripts later she sold her first book and launched a new career. While her heartwarming stories of love, hope, and homecoming have been translated into several languages, hit bestseller lists and won awards, her very favorite thing is when she hears from happy readers.
Donna lives on Canada’s east coast. When she’s not writing she enjoys reading (of course!), knitting, gardening, cooking…and is a Masterpiece addict. You can visit her on the web at www.DonnaAlward.com and join her mailing list at www.DonnaAlward.com/newsletter .
AUDIOBOOK REVIEW starring... Wake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne
Wake the BonesWake the Bones by Elizabeth Kilcoyne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I'm newer to audiobooks, but I was building a few bookcases this Halloween, and wanted to listen to something SCARY while I worked. A search on my Libby app for Halloween titles, and this popped up as a suggestion. Sounded interesting, and so my listening journey began...
I can honestly say, I don't generally finish a novel in a sitting. It's not that I don't want to , but I usually get interrupted so many times, it breaks my concentration. Listening to this one though, I was akin to "whistling while you work"; I could get what else I need done, while enjoying the story...and what a story it was! We start in a small town where most youth dream of escape to other parts. The group of friends we tag along with are not different for the most part, and all for various reasons...but that's where the small town mindset stops. Strange things are occurring around the town, and it all seems to have started once our leading lady came back. Coincidence? I think not...and am proven right as things progress...but the who (or what) and why are murky, still needing time to be uncovered before it's too late. Too late for whom? Ah, now that is a tricky question with a slippery answer...but you'll have to read (or listen to) it to find out.
Watch for the AH HA moments throughout the story, and the twists and turns that lead up to a remarkable ending. I admit to thinking I missed something closer to the end, but then THAT was cleared up...even if the results were a bit on the spooky side!
AUDIO SOAP REVIEW + GIVEAWAY starring... Riverside by Ian Skillicorn and Glenda Young
So, we're reviewing a first today, as well as a less than tenth.  Confused?  Hang on, I'm getting to it.  😏 The first refers to the fact that today's featured title is an AUDIO SOAP.  That's right, an audio soap meaning it's an episode type audio release that performs more like the old radio shows of old, but also sort of like a traditional audiobook that's broken up into chapters.  In this case, there's not just speaking parts, but back and forth conversations with a myriad of vocal cast members, plus music and sound effects to add to the experience.  The "less than tenth" comment, refers to my small list of audiobook listens and reviews...but, though the list is small, I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of them, including this one!  Ladies and gents, on tour with Rachel's Random Resources, and on the blog today, our LISTEN of choice...
Riverside
by
Ian Skillicorn and Glenda Young
About the story...
The feel-good, life-affirming story of love, friendship, family and new beginnings
Changes are coming to the riverside town of Ryemouth, and while some of the community are excited by new beginnings, others are finding it hard to let go of the past.
A new 14-episode audio soap with a cast of loveable characters you'll want to laugh and cry along with.
Susan and her boyfriend Dave can't wait to open their new café and deli, The Old Engine Room. But Susan's dad, George, is not so thrilled. He's never approved of Dave, who used to hang out with the wrong crowd. Can the happy young couple win George round?
Mary and Ruby have been friends since the first day of infant school, even though their lives have turned out very differently. Mary has a contented family life with husband George and daughter Susan. Poor Ruby has never been so lucky in love. Then she meets her teenage crush in surprising circumstances. Mary has her doubts about the charming Paul. Will Ruby finally get her own happy ever after?
Dave wants to put his past behind him. His dream is to make a success of the business, and one day be a good husband and father, like his own dad, Mike. Yet, he's forced to keep a secret from everyone he loves. Who should he turn to for help out of a tricky situation?
When the community comes under threat from developers, can everyone put their differences to one side to defend the town they love?
Riverside is full of romance, heartbreak and secrets, as well as gentle wit and humour.
The Riverside audiobook drama is based on the popular weekly magazine serial written and created by Glenda Young.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The distinction between your everyday audiobook and this audio soap is quite noticeable, but definitely in a GOOD way.  The added audio features help to fully immerse you in the story.  If you have an active imagination like I do, the whole story will unfold right before your eyes, but with the added benefit of the sounds, and the variety of voice actors and actresses, they truly bring it to life.  Whether you stone cold remember every character name after finishing a book, or the names get a little fuzzy, but the story is embedded in your brain (*raises hand*), you won't be able to forget this cast!

We've got several storylines running about that all merge by tale's end.  Our young couple (Susan and Dave) just starting out, one with a grand background, but the other more seedy, more questionable one, raising the question regarding their intentions, and a father that just wants to protect his daughter from the woes of life...even if it means exposing whatever the young lad is clearly hiding.  I get why he wants to keep things separate, but that's not the way to build trust, that's not the way to a lasting relationship!  However, he's not the only one taking someone for a walk with blinders on.  Our lovely gal Ruby is about to make a love connection she never saw coming...but love is often blind, and things may not be exactly what they seem.  When everything comes to a head, hearts are stepped on, but spirits are not destroyed.  I gotta hand it to her, she was quite the formidable woman, and while even she needed a helping hand to pull herself again, she managed to show the world just what she was made of.  Back to dear old dad we mentioned up there...he may seem hard to like with his hard to change opinions about Dave, but he has his reasons...and in the end, he's the one that makes some changes SERIOUSLY happen that you won't expect!

There's not a bad part in the bunch, and I was riveted throughout.  I actually listened to this entire show as I was building the bookcases for my in-home library, and kept entertaining my family with my outbursts of no they didn't and that dirty rotten scoundrel and of course don't do it...he's hiding something!  Let's just say if you have a tendency to talk back to your audiobooks or shows, you might want to listen to this one on your own!  🤣

Legacy

Deadly Curiosities Book 5

by Gail Z. Martin

Genre: Supernatural Mystery Adventure

A dark witch dynasty.

A malicious, immortal undersea place-spirit.

Eternal guardians who wagered their souls to protect Charleston.

Omens of impending disaster have the city of Charleston on edge. Tremors warn of earthquake risk, while a potentially catastrophic storm gathers strength over the ocean and heads for land.

A last-man-standing promise among elderly veterans creates a dangerous inheritance involving an imprisoned, wish-granting goblin. A sea captain and a swashbuckler worked blood magic to protect Charleston from an ancient evil with a spell that bound their souls and their descendants to the task, but danger looms as its power fades. The head of a witch family wants artifacts and secrets—and he'll do anything to get them.

Cassidy Kincaide runs Trifles and Folly, an antique and curio store where her touch magic helps get cursed and haunted objects out of the wrong hands. More than once, she and her allies have saved the world from supernatural threats.

The clock is ticking for Cassidy and her friends to stop the dark warlock, capture the goblin, and restore the guardian spell before a malevolent ancient entity takes its vengeance on Charleston and the coast. It's going to take all the magic, courage, and quick thinking they can muster—and for once, that might not be enough.

Celebrating National Audiobook Month with FORGIVE US By E.T. Gunnarsson - SPOTLIGHT!

Hi there!
Welcome back to Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers.

Did you know that June is National Audiobook Month? Yeah, seriously! So let’s LISTEN all about today’s title in the spotlight as we focus in on a NEW AUDIOBOOK that just hit ear-waves this May. It sets us in post-apocalyptic times where survival is definitely for the fittest of mind, body, and heart. Ready or not, HEAR...I mean, here comes today’s featured title...

Forgive Us
by
E.T. Gunnarsson

About the book...
Earth Has Become Asphyxiated by Man’s Drive for Energy and Technology

In this page-turning post-apocalyptic thriller, the fight for survival is tantamount as characters dodge mutant creatures, armed militant groups and earth-scouring Doomstorms ...

Set nearly 100 years into the future, the earth has been decimated by pollution and civilization has fallen into ruin. The war between nature and humanity has no winner. Humanity's drive for energy and technology was its downfall. In this polluted world, survivors fight on and endure the world destroyed by their ancestors. From what was left, they will rebuild and struggle to make a better place for their descendants.

Four characters in three intertwining time periods fight for survival on a toxic planet:
2099: Oliver: A lone survivor, raising civilization from the ashes.
2154: London and Rose: Nomads caught between warring factions.
2185: Simon: A space station technician initiating a revolution.
Together they may be the last hope for humanity.

A compelling and action-packed novel where nothing less than humanity is at stake. For those who have read The Gunslinger and Mad Max, Forgive Us presents a similar ride that spans three generations of a destroyed earth.
